Hi Chris, Seeing as you are a guru with all things electrical in Skylines can you tell me how the door locking feature should work when operated with the doors closed in a GTR33 Series1,at the moment if I lock both doors from the inside whilst in the car you can still open the drivers side door from the outside,I assume something was not connected properly when the compliancing was done,I am fairly sure the locking knob on the drivers door does not close when the lock is electrically activated however central locking works properly locking both doors when the key activator is used when outside the car.Cheers GREYPEARL.

Hi All, I just decided to change my plugs for the first time on my GTR33 and owing to the confusion of comments about plugs, and not being able to get the ones that were already in it , I settled on the recommended stock plugs for a GTR which are platinum, as I thought mine was fairly stock, however it appears that it's not,as these plugs did not handle the boost at all well I only did about 50kms with them and took them out,I think the boost was too much for the 1.1 gap and I didn't want to chip or crack the platinum by re-gapping to .8 to try that so I bought some Iridiums instead gapped to ,8,anyway these brand new plugs,PFR6A11 are for sale cheap,I paid $146 for them and will sell them for $80.00,so if you have a bog standard GTR and you don't want the expense or hassle of multiple changes with coppers these are a good buy, they will last around 80,000kms,ring me on 0417032732.Cheers GREYPEARL.

Hi All,I need a couple of very minor bits for my GTR33,they are the small grey coloured clips on the firewall that hold one of the bigger dia steel lines that run along there, not sure what the line does,if no one has a shell they don't mind losing these clips from,of course will have to try and buy new ones.Cheers GREYPEARL.

Yes the R is a standard marking for many NGK plugs but these had only one other number on the other side of the plug and that was an 8,no listing for those in Australia so I can only assume that they were bought and installed in Japan and represent the heat range??Cheers GREYPEARL.

Standard boost 1 bar,but they are the plugs that the manufacturer supplied with the GTR so the ngk book says, thanks for the reply.GREYPEARL

How Do You Remove Spark Plug Cover From Rb26
Robert Knight replied to Robert Knight's topic in General Maintenance

Hi all,Firstly I have read all the threads I can find on GTR plug choices and I ended up confused,I bought my 95 33gtr about 2 yrs ago and it has never had a plug change ,although it has only done about 6000kms since I've had it mostly highway use,it now has 80,000km on the clock, so today I attempted to pull the plugs out and have a look at them and to my surprise they were a type I haven't seen mentioned on the forum but definitely not stock as I had expected them to be, they are NGK R and the heat range seems to be 8 which is written on the opposite side to the R does anyone know those plugs and what recommendations do you have as to replacement new ones??or should I just get a new set of them if they are still available,as they have given me no trouble and only the fine electrode has burned down to about a 2mm gap. Does anyone know what metal they are made with as I would preferrably like to replace them with iridium or platinum as it is not a job I want to do too soon as it is not that easy,my car has only 245awkw as I have the dyno sheet from the previous owner so I don't think the motor has been worked in any way only the boost restrictor removed I think, any help greatly appreciated.Cheers GREYPEARL

Hi All,I've looked everywhere on the forum before posting this but I need to know how to properly remove the spark plug cover on my 33 GTR it's not as easy as it looks mainly the back allen screws and the coil pack on the back of the cover any help especially on how to disconnect the coilpack or whether you even have to much appreciated.GREYPEARL.

Hi all, I have recently upgraded my R33Gtr gearbox internals to series 3 spec and therefore have all the original parts to sell, input shaft, synchros, etc there was nothing really wrong with the box except a notchy feel into 2nd but I am a perfectionist so did the refit, whatever comes out to make it series 3 is there, if you need to know what that is ring Terry at Award gearboxes in Sydney as he did the job, open to sensible offers, also I have a Nismo clutch pedal box bracket which I imported from Japan for my 95 R33 GTR which unfortunately was the wrong one,but I'm sure it would fit one of the model Gtr's brand new in box offers over $120 for that part no:46550-RS590 also one brand new Nismo heavy duty clutch pivot ball joint should suit Gtr 33 but wasn't fitted for some reason when the gearbox was put back in I bought it from Unique Auto sports so I think they only advertise one type of these for GTR so should be able to find out what it fits ok $50.00 for that thanx.0417032732.

Hi Again Eug, Thanks for the reply,I have decided to do the job the way you did but would like to keep the speakers straight in the back not rotated ,to fit better as you did, is this possible?? I really like the look of the stock speaker grills in the back can they be used over the new speakers?? Can you tell me how to remove the seats properly and how to take the stock grills off without breaking them, also did you screw the mdf shelf into the steel parcel shelf or just let the seats and the snug fit hold it in?? How thick was the carpet you used to cover it or what type was it??Cheers Rob.

Is There Such Thing As A Bassy 6.5inch Speaker
Robert Knight replied to LatinR33's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
Hi Guys, Been reading the forum and enjoying the info, and it seems like some of you know audio very well. I unfortunately read this forum after purchasing the 6x9's for the rear parcel shelf of my 33GTR and have lost the receipt so taking them back is not an option. So now I have just bought and installed a set of Alpine 6.5" R series 100 RMS no splits in the front doors and want to put the Pioneer TS-A6972E'S 80 RMS 400 watt max power in the back parcel shelf, what amp would best suit to power this combination running off a Sony MEX BT 2500 head unit and where could I mount the amp, most of the 4 channel amps I've seen are about 350mm x 250mm in size and heat will build up if they are under a seat as the exhaust heats up the floor as well and sometimes I drive for 13 or so hrs straight with stereo pumping all the time. I have a really good coustic amp in my other car, a ute, but it shuts down as protection when it gets too hot and I hate that, need an amp that will perform under all conditions.Anyone know how good or bad the factory speaker wiring is in 33GTR's and how much it will affect the sound as I don't really want my interior pulled apart and scratched for a minimal improvement in sound to install aftermarket stuff.?? Also has anyone made a good mdf parcel shelf and created a template to reproduce it for 33GTR, as I for one would be prepared to buy one off you to do this install as I don't have the time to do design and construct, would appreciate help on all of these issues.Cheers Rob. -
How To Install Speakers Into Skyline Doors...
Robert Knight replied to Fhrx's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
Hi There, I was putting front speakers in my 33GTR today and all went fairly well but when I took the passenger door trim off and did the job I noticed a black wire about 9" long attached to a bolt on the door but it had no terminal end on it and didn't connect up to anything obvious to me in the entire radius of the wire, any idea what it is for?? Also I wondered about the benefits of fitting the sound deadener, does it give a punchier sound because of less sound escaping to the outside of the car or what?? Also do you think that using the original pod to mount the speakers in affects the sound quality much as it provides a rain shield and it keeps everything away from the electric window, if anything I was going to cut the piece of the pod off that sits at the back of the magnet to give the sound more back space to move around What do you think?? Btw Great article,Cheers Rob.
