f**k this, I might be ordering a GTX3071 from RealStreetPerformance today, to go external gate using the modified stock manifold that I0WRB is selling. I really want response, and my RB has 160km's on it, so although the supporting mods could get me to 300kw, i don't know how far I want to go as it's my daily ride. I'm over lag. How much real world difference is there in throttle response between the 0.63 and 0.82 housings. Not like for drag off from the lights where you can just dump the clutch at high revs and keep the boost up, but more in situations where i'm powering out of a roundabout or performing clutch-free downshift-less overtaking? Because if there's not much difference in the real world, i'll play it safe and go the 0.82

So, responsive street car dreaming of a HKS2835 on a budget. I'm happy with 250KW, as long as it's reponsive. What exactly is going to happen if i go external gate with a 0.6 housing on a GTX3071? I am guessing boost control won't be a problem with external gate, and it should be super-responsive otherwise, what's this story with heat etc?
-
Just curious.... I've got an 040 with S15 injectors in my RB25. What am i looking at for 98 fuel?
-
If you wanted more response and boost sooner, why not just do an RB30DET?

Sorry to be a pain in the butt, can I get a pic of the exhaust flange please?

High flow from hypergear or gcg bro

Rb25 Manifold + 50Mm External Wastegate

Where in qld? Im guessing it would be expensive to ship, if your too far away for pickup. What exhaust housing style does the dump suit? 4 bolt or vband? -

I've got a rb25 r33 power fc. Would this work? -
Rb25 Manifold + 50Mm External Wastegate

Where are u located? -
I'm trying to do searches in the "Classifieds" section of SAU for "2835" and "gt2835" but none of the sponsors are coming up, so I can't find any prices for the kits. I'm guessing they go for around $3500 though? Wheres the best place to shop?

What wastegate would you guys recommend for a exhaust-housing mounted on a 0.6x for GTX3071? A Tial 38mm or is there a better/cheaper option? Isaac

The reason I was asking earlier about the "external gate mounted to turbine housing" scenario is because i think i want a GTX3071 with a 0.6x exhaust housing for "maximum street response like a hks2835", and the internal gate 0.6 has flow issues because it can't vent enough gas to control boost? I don't want to f**k around with a new exhaust manifold unless my 100% street driven car can see much improved response, and i'm limited in power output anyway by stock internals. So, assuming i can't find a 2835 at the right price, i'm going a GTX3071. Can somebody give me a real world difference between the 0.6 housing and the 0.8 housing? I guess I could try the 0.8 with internal gate, and if i feel it's not responsive enough, then get a new exhaust housing and make a turbine mounted wastegate with screamer pipe? There are a few different internal gate exhaust housings i've found online at places like ATP, is this housing the best one to get? After upgrading from a broken stock turbo, to a kkr560, i've never felt decent response in my car, so that's the new priority, and i've screwed around enough now, to know that this time, i want to do things properly

I sms'd 32_Dave as I wanted to know if this was internal gate. Thought I'd post up the info in case others were wondering: Ex gate no dump or lines, 4 bolt dump.

How would you guys compare a GTX3071 to a HKS2835?

Hi, I'm interested in the turbo, suitable water and oil lines, and the short shifter kit Are you happy to post to Helensvale, Gold Coast, QLD 4212? I don't post stuff ever, so I have no idea how much that would cost? Can you tell me a bit more about the turbo? EG: why was it only on for 15,000km's, was it ever dyno'ed, if so, what power figure? What size exhaust housing is it?
-
Yea, stock exhaust manifold, currently i'm at 250rwkw so I don't think it's a restriction yet, and the money could be better spent elsewhere
-
What's everyone's take on the "buy an externally gated T3 exhaust housing, then weld an external gate directly to the housing"? I've seen it done before, but 99% of the time the gate is on the manifold, so I guess there must be a reason for that? I just don't want to have to buy a new exhaust manifold while i'm at it Isaac

Yogi, RB30DET gives me boners! When I first read about them, a few years ago, I thought it was just a "bolt RB25 head onto RB30 bottom end and your done" type thing, which sounded awesome, so I looked more into it and realised that there was much more to it than that, so I kinda forgot about it. Guess I'll hit that search button now and see what i can find

Hi guys, I realise that this is right up there with "how long is a piece of string" or 'how long will my rb last", but I thought I'd post the question as I've always been curious, and i seem to get so many different options and opinions when searching, that i'm not sure what is most appropriate. I've got an internally stock RB25DET in my S1 R33 GTS-T. Just the usual bolt ons, PowerFC, front mount, 480cc, z32, splitfires, and a KKR560 that i'm replacing with a GTX3071. My car has 160,000km on the clock, but like all imports, i have no idea if that is genuine or not, or how hard the previous owners drove it/maintained it. Anyway, I've always wondered: how much would a rebuild cost if something went wrong with my engine? Obviously i could get a very basic/stock rebuild, or i could go totally crazy, and each rebuilder would charge differently, so i realise these won't be perfectly accurate quotes, but what would you guys recommend for the following. It's a street car that maybe will see the occasional drift/drag/track day but i've been saying that for 2 years and haven't gotten around to a single event yet [] "Stockish" rebuild to handle 275rwkw [] Slightly tougher build for 300-325kw I know that the "safe limit" for stock internals is around 275kw, so i'm guessing a basic rebuild, being a brand new engine rather than a 17 year old, would be able to handle at least that. Going for "value for money" and only spending where it needs to be spent, what more would I get to handle 300 to 325 kw. I know I can go insane and get new intake and exhaust manifolds, cams, and everything else, if money is no object, but what's recommended for these power levels? I'd more want "responsive street car" rather than "peaky screamer" as i'm over the lag from my current turbo, I'd pretty much just be looking for whatever the maximum a GTX3071 could safely deliver on 98 fuel, which should be similar to a GT3076. Am I an idiot if I get a rebuild and don't get cams? Exhaust manifold? Intake manifold? RB30 bottom end ? I guess I'm just looking for peoples experiences and how happy they were with the money spent.

I've contacted ATP and RSP to get quotes for GTX3071's internally gated T3 0.82 housing and flange shipped to Gold Coast, Australia. They replied back to confirm address, so I guess i'll hear back with a price this afternoon. If it's acceptable, looks like i might get the world's best xmas present I'm happy to post up the prices here, for anybody else looking, or is that inappropriate?
-
Heres to hoping that updates will be posted in this thread as australian outlets get stock of GTX3071. Just checking... I used to run no cat or mufflers on my car, but i've cleaned up my act now so that i don't upset the neighbors. There's no problem running a screamer pipe on a GTX3071 right? Like it will only get loud once i'm making some kind of boost, right? Isaac
-
Just checking, i'm sure you can't but thought it would be worth asking as i'm not that knowledgeable. Could I get a GTX3071 and use the exhaust housing from my current KKR560. I would love that because then i don't need to buy an exhaust housing, dump pipe or any of that, so i'd save money. My current exhaust housing has already been chopped up my mr turbo to remove the "twin scroll" partition, and make the wastegate hole heaps bigger. Random copy and paste in case it's helpful: As I said, i'm sure this is a ridiculous question, but thought i might as well ask
