  1. hi im running an oil only turbo now and just needing to know which is the best method of blocking off the water lines to and from the original turbo. should i cut the standard line and join it with some hose to the intake side or do i just put a bolt in the feed line and then ill plumb the other end in somewhere else as im running a forward facing plenum and am changing the routes of a few lines. for an rb25 which is best? thanks
  2. internally rb20 ca18 and sr20 gearboxes are the same. plus it will be going into a non turbo engine with less than 200hp more than likely
  3. no the 200sx has an SR20 engine. it should fit but you will need to take your existing bellhousing off and put it on the sr20 gearbox. before you buy the SR20 gearbox have the owner measure it up for you you dont seem to understand what im saying. he can bolt his current RB25de bellhousing onto the SR20 gearbox. theres no need to cut and shut bell housings for this application. all he needs is an SR20 box with an RB20 or RB25de bellhousing. you then take the SR20 bellhousing off the SR20 gearbox and bolt the rb20 or rb25de bellhousing on to the SR20 gearbox. All SR20, CA18 and RB20(RB25de) bellhousings are interchangeable between gearboxes. all i recommend he does is have the length of the SR20 box measured from the sandwich plate in the middle of the box to the end where the driveshaft bolts in.
  4. what i said is from personal experience. i did not mention anything about 25 boxes, rather sr20,rb20 and ca18 boxes. many silvia owners are using 25 boxes but the bellhousing is a cut and shut and so is the tailshaft.
  5. i know you can put an RB20 box with an SR20 bellhousing behind an sr20. i would assume it would work the other way. however a CA18 box with an RB20 bellhousing didnt bolt straight up behind an rb20 or 25 due to being an inch too long. also RB30 boxes also work. to see if its going to work get someone to measure an SR20 gbox for you and compare it to yours. the bellhousings are all interchangeable between SR, CA and rb20
  6. i dont know the answer to your coils wiring issue but i have just bought the same as you but i bought the plug and play adaptor aswell(although still waiting for it to arrive). thats an option that would save having to worry about wiring. i have a question also. did you get a list of what sensors are needed to run the microtech? like do you need the air reg or the AAC valve etc. iv asked microtech and they didnt seem to know about the air reg thanks
  7. would you mind doing a quick diagram of how you set it up? i bought one of those drift fan controllers you suggested and am using 2 12" sonic thermo fans. when using large gauge wiring is that from battery to the fans only? no need to change any of the wiring that came with the controller? would you recommend using the nismo t/stat instead of a genuine nissan one also? my car is only used for drift as well so no aircon etc thanks very much
  8. its dupli colour metal coat ground coat. just bought it from super cheap.
  9. i used the dupli colour last week. i used there recommended undercoat and the first one came up really good. the second one was flat and dul. then had a few more goes at it and got it just as shiny
  10. are you able to search from engine numbers? if you are could you please tell me info on these two: RB25 169460A RB25 076549A thanks
  11. thanks very much very helpful do the r33's have a small vac tank similar to s13's in the back corner of the engine bay?
  12. hi iv searched these forums and my workshop manual and cannot find a full engine vac diagram anywhere. if someone has one can they pm it to me or tell me where it is in the workshop manual. thanks adam
  13. hi i need some rb20 engine brackets. the ones that go from the block to the mount. im finding it hard to find some. are rb30 the same? i have a laurel x member and a series 2 rb25. help would be good asap thanks
  14. i run my silvia like that and never had a problem so far.
  15. i have. but couldnt really see a gt28rs being used anywhere. i already have this turbo so was trying to get a gauge on where it will take me will putting more boost through be likely to increase power? or maybe not do anything else because of the .64 exhaust? so 14psi would see me at 280hp but 18psi may only see me at 285hp and hotter running temps?
  16. another option i could probably look at is putting the 71mm comp wheel in from the 2871r.
  17. hi i have a CA silvia. currently it has a GT28rs with .64 exhaust. i have pulled the CA out and am putting an rb25 in currently. my questions is, is the gt28rs too small for the rb25? im aiming between 300 & 350hp. ill have to get an adapter to go from t2 to t3 flange but thats no big deal. opinions please. thanks adam
  18. is anybody here running one of the bigger ones (TR43) off the internal wastegate? or have they welded the IW and now running extenal gate? thanks
  19. where do you get it from? how do you get it to fit with the engine fan?
  20. a friend of mine has just done the conversion and im picking up 2 25s on monday to do 2 of them. cefiro, laurel or r32 x member, r32 mounts. im going to use an rb20 box first up and see how i go. that way i can retain my CA speed sensor and CA tailshaft. hopefully the 20 box will last a while!! i have a mate that is doing me the plug and play looms aswell. make sure you have a good radiator and a 14" and 12" thermo on the front of the radiator. im also putting a HKS 2535 and microtech lt12s on mine at the same time. i already have the rest of the support mods like oil coolers fmic fuel pumps etc. cant wait
  21. thanks for that. very helpful. i was originally thinking a kkr430 but then after reading a few things i got that out of my head quickly. just looking at nengun at the actual HKS gtrs kit. its about 2200. does anyone else in aus do it at a similar price. its alot more than i wanted to spend but id say it will be the safest and best option. but i have seen HPIAB now does the equivalent of a HKS gtrs. are these the ones your talking about?
  22. well thats pretty much answered my question. iv read every thread about which turbo etc thats why im pretty certain on going a 2871r. just didnt know to what extent you could push the standard one
  23. hi guys im new to the world of 25s. iv been searching through all the turbo related threads trying to decide which turbo to get. iv bougt it down to a hi flow, a 2871r or a 3071r. im only looking for about 300hp or maybe a little more. but as its in my s13 drift car i want it to be very responsive. but then i got thinking about if i could keep my standard turbo. iv come up with these 2 options at the moment, which is more feesable? option 1: get a 2871r and run 15psi on the standard engine with the microtech. option 2: run a standard turbo or try find an r34 turbo cheap run 15psi and get a set of stage 1 cams and run an adjustable exhaust cam gear with the microtech if the injectors max out before then well thats no big deal. but really need some advice from people as im coming from a CA18 background thanks
