  1. Hi Guys, Have seen a Skyline Crossover (the SUV variant of the Skyline) and am interested in knowing a little more about matters relating to importing these, namely; * Can they be imported (my understanding is that they can be)? * Are there any models which can or cannot (i.e exceptions to the rule)? * Given they started selling in Japan in late 09, I imagine that the prices are still quite high (app 4.5M new for the 370 GT FOUR I believe, so probably still circa 3.6M FOB).
  2. ??? not my intention to be rude...but if you have a deposit, by law you cannot sell to another party (unless of course this is specified in the contract which would be unheard of...?? GL irrespective. $41K is a fair price.
  3. is this the 'SP' model? do you have auction papers (as in, was it a grade 5A at auction)? And are there any 'issues' with the car (interior, exterior, mechanical) that you are aware of?
  4. lol - wrong perth I suspect. and weren't you looking for an R34 GTR V-Spec back in 05? How did that go - no luck, or bought / sold / buying again? if you want to chat, please take this to PM and I'll be happy to assist...
  5. hi mate - i understand as you're new you won't be acquainted with rules of the forum, but you really should post a price (even a starting ambit claim satisfies this). there's a GTR at a dealership up in perth - think it's john white's old back up car - have you thought about approaching them?
  6. hi mate, a couple of questions; 1. is something wrong with it, as you've been trying to sell for several weeks (I appreciate it is a bad time in the market if wanting to sell) and seem to have little interest. In other words, what are the bad points - exterior, interior, mechanical? 2. if you're keen to sell, surely it is worth the effort of taking some photos which actually display the car in daylight? I can hardly see the thing from the photos you have. I would not be surprised if adding another 4-5 good quality photos could get the car sold... 3. mileage? obviously given the nismo odometer this will be unlikely to be the full mileage of the car, but can you advise us what was on the car when imported, and how many klms it is claimed were on the car when the odometer was exchanged? P.S I'm letting you get to the top of the list by replying to my questions (as it is detail relevant to the sale), but be cautious on bumping 3 times in a day, mods don't take to that too well, and may have an eye on you.....
  7. bang on - compliance is viewed by most 'customers' (and that includes both the ultimate end user and many importers alike) as merely a process. a process which implies cost and - to a lesser degree - time. Quality is by far and away the lesser consideration. To some extent the time factor is neutralised across most importers (not all, but incidental to this discussion), however there is a clear trade-off between quality and cost. I have witnessed many purchasers (end users?...ie. not the importer) complain about what or what was not done after the fact (after they took possession of a car). However, prior to taking possession, their overarching driver is almost always cost, not quality. Customers may be prepared to pay more for aesthetic matters like kits and alloys, but to those 'out of sight, out of mind' matters like restraints, intrusion bars, etc - they have little concern. I recall many people saying in 2002-3 when they shut down the old system in favour of the introduction of the RAWS system that this was designed to 'flush out the cowboys'. I knew back then then it was only a matter of time before these guys came back, and they've been back with us for years. (where there's a will, and a loophole, there's a way). any system is only as good as you can or will govern it, and the more RAWS who come on board, the less ability DoTaRS has to do so. hence things will likely only get worse. but - for what it's worth - let's hope not.
  8. anyone able to tell me the app selling price (auction, not FOB) for a V36 coupe? looking for top of the line (SP model from memory), 3.7ltr, grade 4.5 or 5, interior A, mileage of no concern as unlikely to be too high anyway. price for both auto and manual if anyone can help? I appreciate that this will fluctuate for a variety of reasons not mentioned above (colour, accessories and mods, luck of the draw, etc) I'm assuming app 2.2M Yen - or is that a bit too ambitious? Cheers, J
  9. second that - got my V35 350GT done in 2-3 weeks. professional outfit...
  10. in case you didn't get it from the previous answers to your question....they are NOT going to let importers bring them in. EVER. Except for those who will wish to argue; a) the caveat around personal imports (which I'm sure is not what you meant), or b) once they are 30 years post the first date of manufacture so to answer your question precisely, they will allow you to import them in 2038. No need to get your paperwork ready just yet....
  11. yeah I'm with Goxy on this. I've also written to him with an offer, and we're pretty distant on price, but no need to try character assassination in a public forum. I'm sure he'll realise that his price needs to come down (with any luck for him he won't need to, fingers crossed) - but in the interim, we should keep our negotiations private. good luck with the sale mate.
  12. don't mind me asking but - what did he pay for the wheels, and what did he get quoted for the panel work?
  13. After the following parts. Located in Melbourne, so please specify location or price inc postage 1. Drivers side window trim / strip (which sits at the base of the window) 2. Rear window wiper 3. Rear lights (clear colour - sit either side of the rear rego plate) 4. Front lip spoiler for GTR 5. Rear parcel shelf 6. Boot carpet 7. Air Con vent (on LHS of dash)
  14. now in melbourne - price drop to $11999. dyno sheet attached. invoices for rebuild available. R32_GTR_dyno.pdf
  15. mate frankly this is a steal - and I don't reckon you should have to panic in order to sell it. I see guys on supra forums trying to talk this model and spec of car up to the $20K area, and frankly I think it's fair to draw a comparison between this and an R34 GTT. Congrats on being one of the few to actually get straight out of the blocks with a fair price up front. I've no hesitation in saying that if I can sell my green R32 GTR before this has sold - I'll take this off your hands.
  16. wow....exceptional price...for once a seller who isn't daydreaming that their car is worth what it was 10 years ago. this looks to be a great buy - I know I'd rather roll the dice on bodywork than on mechanicals..... if only you'd take an R32 GTR as a trade in (mine is similar to yours - needs some TLC) - otherwise good luck with the sale - should go quickly
  17. confused....when I see an ad for a car with low klms, it says 'why buy a car with high klms that's been trashed'.....and when I see one with higher klms, it says 'don't ever believe the odometer'. methinks the best tactic is simply to assess based on price relative to observed condition (mileage, speculation, promises, caveats aside)? but definitely a nice looking set of wheels....
  18. location? was the ebay one no good? If not - why (trying to figure out if mine is to your tastes - but who knows what you're after) budget?
  19. Work - not a problem. I work in IT on large scale CIS for utilities, and one of Japan's largest uses a CIS on which I've got years of experience. I can get a job (and a well paid one) there quite easily. I don't believe that secondary matters like 'can I import vehicle X?' are a pivotal consideration for me, however ...forewarned is forearmed....and hence no harm in doing such research. If I were to go, the plan would be to get 2 x R35 (one for myself, and one for the missus), I'm just 'curious' to know what the 'total cost of ownership' (as distinct from purchase price) would be for a year, assuming normal driving patterns given my these circumstances. My main driver is simply that I wish to travel whilst working O/S, so if I can get 2 x R35 GTR at $150K total cost over 1 year then that's a real kicker, as it makes the experience that much more (economically) viable. My first instinct was to do 12 months stateside so as to get 2 x Z06 (or similar), allowing me to bypass the exorbitant cost of compliance on such cars ($50K AUD, give or take), however I am assured that the Vette's are a particular pain in the neck and simply bypassing the RAWS legislation by way of the personal import laws wouldn't bring that much advantage. Not to mention, who in their right mind would want a Z06 when they could have an R35? Thanks for the feedback - any further detail on Japanese ownership costs would be appreciated. For arguments sake, I would be working in tokyo. My rent will be paid. I would not require the vehicle for commuting at all.
  20. correct me if I'm wrong - for I'm not referencing the DoTARS website when saying this - but I would imagine that you also need to substantiate the fact that you are returning to Australia (travel documentation, etc). I'm not 100% on this, but I'd imagine that the owner of the car (i.e not you if you reside in Australia) overseas must actually return to Australia (or prove that they intend to), otherwise it defeats the whole purpose of the legislation. Can anyone confirm this?
  21. Is anyone here able to advise on the cost of OWNING a car in Japan for one year (normal scenario of ownership - nothing too bizarre) - so If I was heading over (say in March) and chose to stay 12 months and purchase such a car - I'm assuming I need to buy one over there (can i do this myself) and register it (can i do this too) - and what costs for registration, transfer and stamp duty, etc For arguments sake - let's say I got an R35 GTR at circa 5.5M yen.... can anyone assist? Thx!
