  1. heh, snow bunnies rock :headbang: i'll be back in time to enjoy plenty of scarbs chicks etc
  2. very very nice, altho i'm biased i drive a ute(aussie equivilant to a truck) i even have a license plate from a Texas Truck which dad brought back for me last week when he was over there good old Positrack diffs still in use hehe
  3. i'd loev to come cruising and all but i'll be tragically stuck in france ski'ing in the mountains.. i'll think of you guys tho and cry myself to sleep knowing i'm missing the cruise
  4. meh.. with mid to hi 13's i'd say u must be running the slow v8's most gen3's down there are atleast pulling mid 13's nowadays not to mention wheel standing torana's and the like. Altho there are a fair few slow v8's there, try lining up an unasuming grey VT HBD with BBS hockmesh rims. just bolts ons and a new Torque converter, should give you a run
  5. just means his time shouldnt count
  6. as the saying goes.. Bullshit stops when the green light drops now stop squabling kids and just drive, who cares what you ran aslong as you tried your best ok? good now go enjoy yaselves.
  7. Can you people read the archvies or do a search before starting ANOTHER "is nengun ok" thread.. getting as bad as the silvia bois on the egroups
  8. mine pulls healthily till around 240/250 then its a slow creep to 260
  9. why? because everytime i go on a cruise with a bunch of commodore killers me and mates never see any of it happening. So either i cruise with the wrong crowd or maybe they just race slower commodores than mine. Most cases i hear of commodores being beaten its because they're a dressed up 6cyl auto banger.. eitherway its a good kill, and i am still curious as to his 1/4mile times. for those are gonna go wrx hunting, waite 2 months so i can then bring it out any time rather than work around person we've lent ours too
  10. reaction time has nothing to do with 1/4mile time. thats it if i could give a damn i'd type up a drag racing basics thread for u lot
  11. oo oo wrx hunting! i'll bring the STi and we can run its "stock" like most import cars, pod and filter hehe run slow times at motorplex too
  12. yeh saw jash mentioning that, cant waite for it to be on the road, i better get my project cranking so it keeps up.. and i do plan for it to keep up with gt-r's maybe not around twisties(damn 4wd) but in a straight line hopefully haha
  13. in an old skyline with very little weight(R31) those mods make a big diff, esp since its had an engine swap. Try racing some modded gen3's, stock for stock a gen3 exec will keep up with a stock r33 gts-t(no pod/exhaust like 99% of imports). i dont mind sharing my plans, this afternoon i'm picking up an LH SL/R rolling shell. It will be a retrotech project(still with pushrods tho hehe). 1st thing install for it tho is a strip down and a respray which will take a while to save up for haha.. so dunno give it year or 2 and mite see something happening with it Utes getting fixed as we speak, apparently back on road 13th but they said not to hold em to that
  14. very nice good luck with times I'm always happy to see other cars run quick dont get me wrong.. and i know hsv's arent lightning quick. But you will udnerstand my paranoia when most cars here run in the low 14 bracket etc. Hopefully when utes on road i can play with yas some time.. but.. its going on the back burner for my project car, which when its finished should hopefully give you guys a good run hehe
  15. mates old car, we're pretty much dead even rolling run. Its had more work done than most cars on here hence i dont mind, but when i c near stockers harping on about killing holdens etc i get a bit sus That R30's got an RB20DET, VG30 turbo, custom truck core cooler, bit of boost etc. we have the best runs he's sold it now
  16. so what 1/4 u run? i'm always curious about these v8 killer skylines.. because i dont seem to find any when i cruised around so who knows when utes back on road mite have to give yas a run, altho with 18's she's a slug again..
  17. Monstertacho+shiftlight.. but gonna take it out.. and Oil pressure gauge
  18. munro, while your views mite be good.. for a gt-r with 4wd, reving to limiter and dumping the clutch is not good for a rwd car. sorry but in the end 1 can only learn from their own experiance
  19. good size, tyrewall flex will help, drop pressure down to around 26psi or so, dont go to low otherwise it'll have adverse effects at the top end.
  20. hmm.. lower your tyre pressure(what size rims/tyres?) and hold around 3,500 rpm, then easy out just before clamping and pop it out, u'll find probably get wheel spin easy up the throttle a bit to help aleviate it. Once ya moving good hold WOT all the way
  21. few simple things 1st remember to stay calm, at 1st its a bit nerve racking as you don't really know what to expect, but thats fine. The officialls will guide you through at each step as well and worse comes to worse do NOT be afraid to ask for their help, that is afterall why they are there. You initial contact with the track will be the burnout pad, now its debatable how much a burnout helps on street tyres, but a small burnout does help clean the crap of the tyres. the light sequence is simple, there are 2 white lights at the very top of the christmas tree. Top light is Pre stage, and 1 beneath it is Stage. ease your car forward till the Stage light is lit.. don't be concerned if pre stage like goes out, its ok aslong as Staged light is still on. Now the light sequence varies from track to track, it could be 1 yellow after the other till green or it could be all yellow at once and then green. I'll base this on the former. There is 1 thing to remember out of all this reaction time has NO bearing on your final 1/4 mile time. Ok, so the lights drop and the green light comes up.. Make sure your prepared, match revs and clutch to enable the best take off, i find hi rpm and riding the clutch off the line works good for a rwd car, but this requires a aftermarket clutch or the want to destroy your factory clutch, Multiplate and button clutches are a differant story again. Remember, you'd rather wheel spin than bogging down tho as 1 can atleast control wheel spin to a degree with the right foot. Depending on your faith in the gearbox/clutch I personally flat shift 1st 2nd and 3rd 4th, 2 3 i dont recomment a flat shift as its easier to hit the gate and hear that lovely limiter After that i usually just pop the bonnet on the return run to let some cool air flow in a bit and idle it a touch when back at the pits. Hope some of this has been helpful
  22. i know lotsa road for that sort of fun. Not to open to giving them out tho due to if others kill themselves on there means rest of us cant use them when utes fixed mite take ya out some time. btw fwy south @ 2am is 1 place that is reall good for it.
  23. initial assessment is that the car can be fixed. Theya re going to strip ti down and give a more detailed assessment at a later date. If its a repair job, on go some VY SS panels
  24. yeh its going ok, still beat it tho haha cop pulled me over that night after i ran him and won and just asked me to take it easy and left it at that haha
