  1. I was thinking more around 6000rpm...
  2. Stnd or aftermarket BOV?
  3. Hi guys, I'm putting my car in the Warrnambol drags on Feb 8th, and was after a few tips from those who have dragged before (rpm launch?, etc)... Was also after a rough estimate on what time I should get, here's what I've got; 95 R33 GTST FMIC 3" Full turbo-back exhaust (heat wrapped) boost controller will be set to 15psi loaning a set of 17" semi-slicks for the day stnd suspension k&n panel filter Will also have new Apexi SAFC & bov by then too. Car will be dyno'd and tuned.
  4. Wow, this thread's nuts! Gotta agree with "The Mafia" here, it doesn't really mean much to me with what car he totalled, but it matters when other people's lives are involved! MINES, how many people were in the car? Did they know you can't drive for shit and have already written off a car? Was your gilfriend/boyfriend in the car? If he/she was, I bet their parents are real happy with you...
  5. Yeah Jim, I tried adjusting it and it sort of went down a bit, but not much... I ended up leaving the car with them and they fixed it, problem was that the ignition timing valve (I hope it's right) was full of carbon and crap. They cleaned it out, give it a good lube and she's all good now
  6. Thanks Steve, had a good look, can't see anything obvious. I'm taking it back there this afternoon.
  7. Hey guys, recently had my FMIC fitted, and all seemed well, except for now... It's only been about a week since it's been installed, and I don't know if it's realated to the FMIC, but my idle is surging from 1200rpm to 2100rpm, surges about 3 times, then settles at 1200rpm. This happens anytime I put the clutch in, or car is in neutral (of course). The car used to idle at 800rpm, after FMIC was fitted it was about the same. I've checked the throttle cable, it's as loose as it can go... Any ideas before I take it back to the place where FMIC was fitted???
  8. Sliksilvia, right on the money man... I took the car down to a local pro installer and he said straight up that even though you may have heard good reviews of Jaycar amps, they're plain SHIT!!! He put in a ground loop isolator and what do you know, no more engine noise. He said they've seen alot of Jaycar stuff that just isn't up to scratch... I paid $225 new for my little 2 channel amp, after reading some reviews about it, but I think from here on in, no more shitty brand stuff for me. Thanks heaps guys.
  9. Yep, only hear it with engine on... Sounds like speaker wine, give the car a few revvs and it wines with it... I'll run some speaker wire off my amp to the rear speakers tonight, so I know if it's the front speaker wires or not.
  10. Booster, yep already done that... Still having problems guys, I moved the amp to a different spot and still no good, tried different RCA leads as well. I even tried running the RCA's from the head unit, out the window, around the car, into the boot and wired to amp - still no good... Also re-rigged up power cable and ground cable location... The power wire is still running down the middle of the car (from head unit, passed gear stick, under console, under back seat and into boot. Anyone got any other suggestions? I might hook up my rear speakers to the amp and see if I still get engine noise, at least then I can elimate the problem being the front speaker wires...
  11. Thanks mate, RCA's have been taken old of my old rex. Didn't have a problem with them... I might try running the RCA's down the middle, if that doesn't work, I'll PM you about your cables.
  12. Thanks for the word up cooks! So the way I've run the cables should be OK then? I can't see where the RCA's and power wires cross... The RCA's and speaker wire run passed the battery though, has anyone got any pix or can explain how the wire should be setup?
  13. Thanks guys, I might re-run the RCA's and speaker wire down the driver's side of the car, so it doesn't pass the battery. Sliksilvia, I'll see how it goes first, then let you know if I need your cables.
  14. I just did my first install over the weekend, put in some new splits and an amp to run them... Only problem is that I now have shitty engine noise coming throught the speakers!!! All gear is brand new, Blaupunkt splits and a little 2ch Jaycar Response amp running the splits, new RCA's and speaker wire. Pioneer DEH-P700R head unit. Blaupunkt 12" sub is going in later, when I can figure out how to tie it down I'm not sure if I've set this up properly, but here's how it is; From the head unit, I've got the remote amp turn on wire (blue one) running down the driver side of the car. All 3 RCA cables (front, rear, sub) are taped together and also taped onto the speaker wire for the splits. This is running down the passenger side of the car, under carpet/rear seat, passed the battery and into the amp, which is located directly under rear driver's side speaker. As this was a DIY and learn process for me, I'm pretty sure I stuffed up somewhere... Should I have the speaker and RCA's going through the driver's side, so it doesn't pass the battery? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks guys, Kyran.
  15. Here's exactly what you want... http://www.cargear.com.au/dashmats.html I'm gonna be getting one soon as well...
  16. I've only ever heard good things about them, they're pretty trick lookin too! Very handy havin it mounted nicely into pillar! Only problem is how much they're worth
  17. Thanks Hippy, too easy
  18. Hey JAS, if you're after a cheap alternative check this site out; http://www.autospeed.com/A_0670/cms/article.html It's a DIY boost controller, works the same as electronic boost for only $120 odd... I've had no problems with it, holds boost very well and is easy to adjust... You could have it cabin mounted if you wanted as well! They've put out an upgrade to it as well, let me know if you have any questions.
  19. Thanks Hippy, I'll have a look at it tonight...
  20. Hey guys, I'm gonna run my splits off my new amp, therefore am also running new speaker wire to em... I gather a few people have done this before, but I need some advice on how to get the speaker wire through to the door... Has anyone got a detailed description on how to do this without pinching wires and what not?
  21. Looks like it should be fine, am chasing pipe work from Greenline. I'll post up piping price.
