  1. Bumblebee, and I've wondered how so many nice cars end up written off.... now I know.... "GT5 R THE BESTEST!!!!" Mate youre either talking shit... or you havent even touched either of those PC games to compare, youve just got GT5 to go by.... if your such a track champion, your making yourself look mentally retarded with your GT5 comments But I enjoy a good laugh, so Im not complaining
  2. LOL... Always the same shit, do you guys get out much and hear cars in RL? Cause f**k me but I love quality audio and have a decent setup and GT5 does NOT sound real, 2 cars do... woopeee... and yous still think the skids/screeches sound great? They might aswell be the same f**king sounds from GT1 ffs.... which are pathetic as is. Its all show... its graphics first and only with these guys... nuff said. Graphics and Quantity, over quality.....
  3. Thats because youve gotten used to the game, and that explains it in itself... youve gotten used to the games retarded physics, and now you can drift... good for you, but it simply shows that the physics are f**ked, because even you admitted after 2 years, you can link an entire track, anyone with decent car control skills, and drift experience in real life, shouldn't have to play the f**king game for 2 years just to get used to its drift physics. Not swearing at you man, its directed at my hate for whats happened to the great GT series. All down hill from the original... pathetic. Ive been saying it all along, and people thing im just an Xbox fan boy. Truth is, Forza2 is good, but its still short of a real simulator. Dean, you'll be waiting forever for that sim on PS3 man... because it will never come out. The only "sims" are on PC, and you've already played/been playing the best of them! All PC needs, is a GT/Forza based sim. Where you can purchase everyday style cars/street sports cars like the jap imports etc. with some awesome ass physics like rFactor/LFS etc. and there you have it... Consoles are for casual gamers man... they ain't gonna release a game that only 5% of people in total who own the consolse, MIGHT buy.... I think the new GTR might be coming out on PS3 - not even sure on that one. Just heard it from someone. Do this one thing, and you wont ever play a racing game on your PS3 again. Join a community like OMR - check it out on YouTube, look for like the Aus V8 Series for instance, the videos. Its f**king spectacular, when you race online with REAL opponents and REAL physics... with like 6-44 online racers depending on the game. You will bloody not wanna stop. These guys race for real, its like real life racing minus the real cars. All flag rules, warm ups, quals, realistic damage/wear. I played NASCAR 2003 with 43 other racers, doing a 100% length race at Talladega (went for like 3-4hrs non stop) and finished 5th. About 15 people DNF from big smashes etc. It was just like watching it on TV but better.. the accidents were JUST like the real deal... its f**king the most immersive gaming experience ive had to date! Im not a HUGE fan of simple oval round and round racing... but dont knock it till you try it. It may have been round and round but when you can draft with another racer and catch the main pack after a minor slip up... and be in the race again and bump draft, the whole sha bang.... f**k its the best. Yellow flags, pileups... and thats just NASCAR! Games like rFactor with the Porsche Cup mod in particular, is one of the best series you can race in. Give it a go, you wont be disappointed. Very friendly and helpful bunch too! And seriously... dont ya'll agree that GT5 completely does NOT deserve the title of "The Real Driving Simulator"? f**kin crock of shit. False advertising... should sue Sony.
  4. LOL, it's true - but it's mainly from personal experience (shocking personal experience, with all things Sony related), aswell as all the other bs, the rootkits etc. are bad enough. Then you have the shitload of other horror stories, if you do a thorough search, you'll notice Sony probably has more complaints than half the unknown Chinese companies, making the rip-off products have. Sony's car audio is one of the biggest jokes, ask anyone that has HALF a clue, and one of the first things they'll mention is to stay away from Sony's gear, if they don't they're on the payroll. For such a big/well known/supposedly top of the range company, they have one of the worst customer satisfaction rates around, and customer service is barely heard of, it's ridiculous. The fact is, they sell SO much stuff, that of course there'll be some defective products, BUT it's not that, most of the time you are paying for something sub-par, for the price. What I mean is, some of there hardware is actually not bad, but it's the fact that you pay a premium for it because it's "SONY" and expect to get what you pay for, when really you can get better for cheaper and from a different brand, but so many people don't want to risk going with someone else, because they think Sony is going to be the be-all of anything and can't go wrong. My friend knows all too well, just bought a HD Sony LCD 40" screen, only to be disappointed that a Samsung he could've got cheaper looks better (in his eyes) and would've been 46" rather than 40". Only he went with Sony because he's paranoid and thought Sony would guarantee a good purchase, simply because it's Sony and now he's spewing, I warned him, he didn't listen. Most people don't... and they pay the price in the end... which is my cue for a good laugh, unfortunately there's nothing else I can do except laugh, ESPECIALLY the times when I have mentioned to people to check there options. But yes, I really do hate Sony. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't complain with a Sony Bravia HD LCD, only if I wasn't paying for it that is. Another Sony horror story, the VAiO laptops, gotta be the worse laptops ever created/released, they are not the WORST out there now, but still one of the worst choices available, and the first releases were ridiculous. I could've made better build quality, and yes, I made the stupid mistake of buying one, even though it was a bargain and second hand, it was still shithouse, the respective Acer was better - and Acer are renowned for being one of the worst hardware choices available for any of there PC hardware they have. Not so much these days... but shit few years ago it's amazing they didn't go out of business. I still wouldn't even buy one of there LCD monitors which are meant to be pretty decent these days, I just wouldn't take the risk, on the track record. And have heard/seen many come out of the box with dead/stuck pixels still... So yeah
  5. I love the internet. If you read my post fully mr. tossbag , including the link I included to the OTHER thread with discussion on this, you would've noticed I bought legitimate copies of every GT series game on PS1/2. What a mistake that was, wish I never did, wouldn't of been so disappointed, so don't give me that fanboy crap, I was just too blind to see the usual Sony tactics at play with GT, until it was too late and they had my hard earned money, yet weren't improving the game at all, in fact making it worse at times (GT3 anyone? better than 4, but missing SO MUCH it should've been a prologue) Forza showed me the light and converted me, BECAUSE it's a better game in all areas. Not because it's Microsoft/Xbox and that's for consoles... I've always known, and it is known GENERALLY that you can't beat the PC for a top SIMULATOR. Oh just for your info, I traded my Xbox1 for a PS2 and GT3/4 because I thought they would be worth it, THAT was my biggest mistake actually, I missed out on Forza until LATE in the game, missed lots of good game time because of the let-downs of GT. Played GT4 for quite a while, even have a few entries on GTPlanet for drift comps/photo shoots etc. because I wanted to make the purchase of GT4 worthwhile, even though it wouldn't fully be worth it, but yeah that was only when I wasn't playing the REAL games on PC anyway. I'm not a big console fan at all anyway - they ARE good for sports games, soccer, nfl, nhl, nrl, olympics and THAT IS ALL, in fact they are KINGS of that genre! But they have no other purpose, they lack in quality regarding even DVD playback, let alone Blu-Ray (was gonna mention HD-DVD, but that's over) and all other games, are better done/played on PC also, COD4 somehow sells amazingly well on an Xbox 360, to my surprise. It's just hilarious though, playing an FPS or even a RTS on a console. I honestly wonder WHY they even release FPS OR RTS games on consoles. Obviously they make alot of sales somehow though, which is why I pity the fools, that buy those game to attempt to play them on a controller. P.S. [Michael] - I would STILL love to hear the reply you WOULD'VE posted if I wasn't such a fanboy, and there was no point replying, I'm REALLY interested in hearing your thoughts and why my post is such fanboyism, when you have nothing to counter with, it's all a friendly healthy debate (notice my smiley after my little tossbag comment, I don't mean it in an offensive way) but if you have nothing to say with your comment about me, you shouldn't have posted it at all, because you obviously know there is nothing you can say that will prove me wrong, because I'm not. The fact is, Forza overall (and in particular in regards to physics/car behaviour) is the better game, technically, is it not? So I mean feel free to comment, I still would love to hear your thoughts, and what you withheld from your post, on the assumption that I'm a fanboy. Because I nearly hate MS as much as Sony, they have fu**ed up just as many good series of games/franchises also to be pissed off at, catering for those who will make them the most money, rather than the enthusiasts, loyal fans etc. who got the franchise/game off the ground in the first place.
  6. LOL @ Geno8r trying to get himself out of looking like a COMPLETE DICK! LOL! Where have you been mate, no-where in the world is the pedal setup different to how it is here mate... nice one, but not all of us are blind! Cheers for the laugh ey bro. Oh and ACT-LABS have been in this game for fuc**ng yonks, so there IS alternatives, and Logitech ain't the first. Glad to see there are at least a FEW with a clue here..
  7. The reason for the ghey background music, is the fact that GT5 has even gheyer sound effects than the gay music! LOL! I'd RATHER hear that music than the shitty sound effects honestly. And the reason many videos are shit, is because GT doesn't let you do, what you SHOULD be able to do in a car. Oh and PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE for the love of god DON'T BUY FROM i-Tech, they are one of the biggest rip offs in the industry, you're NEARLY better off going to Harvey Norman, you can save that much money going elsewhere it's not funny, PM me for some DECENT links.
  8. Notice these people (developers of GT series) have absolutely no regard for the paying public who is keeping them filthy rich. Ferraris were asked for since GT1, only NOW they are officially in, after how many instalments, and there is NO reason they shouldn't have been in earlier versions, as there has obviously never been any damage in the GT series which was there most apparent claim to not want to be included. Still shit sound, it's all about the graphics in this game, GT4 was all about taking an impressive looking photo of your car lmao. Most cars felt the same, drifting was nigh on gone, GT3 at least was half-decent.
  9. I just can't beleive those who bought GT5P, were happy to give Sony a nice little profit for a bloody demo version of a game, nearly asking for retail price of a FULL game, only to pay the full price anyway when the final version does finally come out.... lols! Nice work fellas, keep it up yeah! ROFL.
  10. I didn't realise the amount of n00bs around, thinking GT5 is even close to a simulator lol. YOU WON'T GET A SIMULATOR ON A CONSOLE FULL STOP. The GTR that's coming out isn't a simulator simply because you can't modify the cars, nearly at all - let alone to the point you can on PC. Don't waste your money on a console, if you want a really good sim racing experience. You will NEVER be able to race a full Talladega event on a console, with 43 other online REAL human opponents, racing a FULL 100% race, with full race rules/flags etc. on a console EVER. I hope all the peeps recommending ARCADE games like NFS, Juiced, GT etc. STICK to racing those games on the consoles, because you would only ruin the awesome experience you have online with the PC simulators. And I'm talking about Nascar 2003 (which was out in 2002) here which is STILL one of the best and most realistic racing games available. Live For Speed, negative comments will only be coming from those who tried to run it, and play it using a keyboard or controller, because once you play that game with a good steering wheel/pedal setup, you don't need ANY other game to be satisfied. And no GTRII/GPL/GTL/rFactor will NEVER come out on console (and thank god for that). They can't make enough money to bother, as not enough people will enjoy it, as the console owners will be annoyed that the game is too hard to play with a DualShock 2 (lmao) and complain it's not realistic enough, because of that fact, that they can't play it on there controller lol. Look up some of the OMR rFactor videos on YouTube, especially the clipsal Adelaide 500 featuring the V8 Supercars mod for rFactor, nothing comes closer to realism than either watching the real deal on telly, or being there and driving it. Not just that, the Porsche Carrera Cup mod for rFactor, could be a game on it's own it's that good. Extremely realistic, if not one of the best mods EVER made. Race in a real online league in that, and you will literally throw your PS3 + GT5P out the window, I'll video tape it if you want too. THE ONLY THING REQUIRED ON PC, and the only thing that keeps the shitty GT series on PS going, is the fact that you can drive and modify everyday cars. That's all the PC needs, a game "LIKE" GT5 in the fact that it's everyday cars that you can buy and modify only with actual realism and physics, rather than the arcade gheyness of Gran Turismo. And yes, already some people that actually have a clue, have mentioned the best/better racing games you can get, and they are all PC exclusive, obviously. Live for Speed GPL (unbeleivable, if your a true race fan, you will get into this and probably enjoy it more than any other!) GT Legends - absolutely wicked, all old school, all slide and ALL DRIVER, no bs traction control or anything, it's ALL REAL. rFactor (probably the BEST choice, if you only want to buy one of these) unbeleivable amount of mods, and all top notch! unbeatable. NASCAR 2003 (best version, NASCAR 4 is also good) STAY AWAY FROM THE SHITTY ELECTRONIC ARTS attempts. GTRI-II You can live off these games alone, if not even just ONE of them. As pretty much all have mod capabilities, and feature TC's Total Conversions. You can turn NASCAR into V8 Supercars, TRANS-AM Racing series, Euro Touring Card etc. It's not worth going the PS3+GT5 route just for the G25, a Logitech MOMO is good enough, and that with a 360 and Forza 2 shits on anything PS has, just the way it is. The Sony/GT fanboys won't agree though, they just keep hoping that it'll one day be improved to be up to scratch compared to what it is now. It's a shame, because with the PS3's power, GT5 really COULD'VE (but won't) be an ultimate game.
  11. See, everyone thought exactly what I thought they would. That I was just bagging GT5 because it was part of Sony, that I mention I hated. But it's not that, I wouldn't have bought every (legitimate) copy of GT up to part 4 if I didn't have at least a little FAITH in the motherf**king developers. But no, you all thought it would be some super updated, spectacular game. So there's FINALLY Ferraris, big woop - there not that bloody good, could've easily been impressed if they included many other good if not better manufacturers. It's STILL missing all the essentials, that should've been included/updated in GT2 ffs, nothing new, sony at it's best again. Updating, and sprucing up the games looks, and NOT TOUCHING the sound - which is shit even for 1997 standards.... hmmm, seems like 2 cars sound like they SHOULD - the Mines R34 and the Ferrari F430. Would love to see the money handed over from Mines and Ferrari to have there authentic sounds put in, lol. Low-speed physics still absolutely ridiculous and untouched, surprise surprise. I don't blame anyone for trying to at least make themselves feel a little satisfied with purchasing a PS3 and GT5 only to be mostly disappointed. A couple of good points make up for none hey And let me guess, all those with a PS3+GT5P will be waiting for GT6, expecting alot of fixes/updates/improvements, let me save you the heartache and may I recommend selling your PS3's while you can still get "MOST" of your money back? If you want the ultimate racing experience, you need a good PC, a good steering wheel + pedals, and you need something like rFactor, GTL, GPL, GTR2, LFS etc. You can manage all these with like half the budget you'd need to get a bare PS3.... and all shit on anything available on a PS3. Even Xbox 360 and Forza 2 put PS3 and anything it had attempting to be a simulator to shame, and that's saying something for a console (that's pretty much a pc in a small box anyway). Love to say, I told ya so. I laugh at the comments saying GT5's sound is improved.... you guys are trippin' sell me what your smokin.
  12. Yeah they f**ked it unfortunately, 3 was like 1 only more complicated and the extra features they tried to implement only made it worse really, because they just couldn't do it well enough. Driver 1 was a benchmark game, it set a standard for how much fun 'run a muck on the streets in a beast' category game could be. The burnout button, and physics of the sliding etc. couldn't really be beat at the time, for fun anyway.
  13. LOL... So they've added a "Drift Mode" to GT5. Just like some games that are BASED on Drift alone, does not mean it's any good. GT5 is enhanced visuals and slightly different feel (basing on Jap Prologue) but STILL the same old GT missing the same old features it should've had added to part 2 ffs. GT5 is like a show-car with minimal mods (that count) whereas Forza 2 is the showcar with balls of steel... I can't beleive it's still the same old shit, it really is just updated visuals, notice the sound? STILL the f**king same looped tire squeel no matter what you do just changing in pitch. Low speed physics STILL shithouse... The GT5 comments are purely based on being impressed by updated visuals (which are only to be expected)... why else isn't there any comprehensive details, rather just the usual, it's Sony so buy it advice.... lol. I put a massive post regarding this in your other thread Dean, check it out here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Wa...Ca-t209127.html Explains alot of things, if you have time have a read man... it's worth it in my eyes. This thread response is enough of a indicator alone... It's like 1/14 recommendation for GT, with 2 other 'mentions' but like 12/14 recommendations for Forza. And I'm assuming most people on here would have a clue about drift in particular, or at the least, what a car should feel like in a game, and if GT was as good as it's meant to be, the results would be reversed. Not just that, there is a game better than GT3/4 on PS2 also, if anyone wants to check it out, especially for drift, it's called Enthusia, it's a great and better (in regards to car feel) game than GT4, with slightly less cars/tracks though, but then again who wants anything to do with like 40% of the useless cars in GT anyway? I've certainly never wanted to race or modify anything like a Kia Carnival around a track... what were these blokes thinking seriously... then again, Japs are funny ass mofos, and even more weird...
  14. Yeah no probs... Basically, it all started with the original Xbox, you could get it modded with a chip that has features, such as basically a ported Windows Media Player, that can play pretty much any and every video file/codec out there. You could change the HDD and put in your own massive f**ker from a PC and just load it full of music/movies/random clips, eBooks if you wanted to... ANYthing. Not just that, you could then also create images of any games you owned (or didn't...) place them on the HDD and play all your games without the need for ANY disks, which benefits you numerous ways. Save your precious originals from getting scratched, much faster loading times, and the rest! You can very easily also switch the network port it has, into a Wireless device, and then just transfer stuff wirelessly from your computer, so you can leave your Xbox wherever it is, lounge room etc. or wherever. The 360 can do all that and more just with updated hardware and look of course, and most importantly updated games. PM me if you want some links to the shit you can do, it's really quite amazing, even things like changing the LED's on the Xbox ring light, or the controllers, you can personalise it to the way you want, even give it a custom Candy Apple Red paint job if you really want! lol. Basically it's always been a PC in a console really, so you're kind of just enabling all those things by modding it. In regards to which one has more drift/simulator games? Well, honestly the PS2 easily has the most, but 99% of them are all beyond SHIT! The only game 'close' to a simulator on the PS consoles would be the GT series, and GT3 is no f**king sim, I tell you that much, even GT4 is pretty far off. How they can get away with calling it "The Real Driving Simulator" I don't know, as the low speed car behaviour physics, are as laughable at what the NFS series of games has become since the golden days (golden days, being "The Need for Speed 1"). It's a decent game, and I actually bought all of them up to Gran Turismo 4, so even though I am 100% anti-Sony these days, it isn't causing a bias in my view. But technically... GT ain't no sim. The only sim games really, are on PC - games like Nascar 2003, rFactor, Live for Speed, GTRI-II, GPL, GTL... They are sims definately, and if you want one of the best drift experiences, get yourself a good steering wheel for PC (Logitech MOMO at the minimum, which can be picked up for $50 these days second hand in Perfect condition) and download Live for Speed, you can play it free, enough to get a feel for the game and even do some crazy drifting. It will also run on a system as low as a Celeron 2.4GHz, with 512MB RAM and an onboard video card, many laptops can run it also. You won't beat it for drift on either console, seriously. BUT Forza 2 comes close. And now I'll get onto Forza again. Wicked game, it's basically what Gran Turismo SHOULD be. It's got very good car physics/behaviour, low-speed eats GT alive, you can do proper donuts/burnouts, maneuvres etc. and the car behaves as it should at low-speeds, something enthusiasts fully know and realise GT does NOT do properly AT ALL. It's nothing big (it is to me though) but Forza also has much better effects like smoke, and it leaves tire marks on the road, from when you lose traction. So you can see how perfect your donuts are. I'm going on about this like it's something huge, BUT it is, when a game is meant to be a sim, and it behaves how ANY of the GT series games behave at low speeds.... the 'sim' tag should be thrown in the re-development bin till it's fixed. Not just that, in general GT is behind Forza in all around physics and car behaviour... This is all based on experience playing the game with a good wheel/pedal setup and the every now and then quick game with a controller at a mates house or whatever. Not just that, but look around the net, and there are MANY comparisons on the two games, and most conclusions come out with Forza as the better game. There are many comparison videos also, showing things like I mentioned, the differences between low-speed car physics for example, among everything else. But probably one of the most important bits of the game where Forza shines, is in vehicle modifications, it shits on GT then throws up on it. You can do anything you could want to, where GT is missing those little bits that make you go "wtf? why didn't they put such an obvious feature here???" Forza has them gold plated, for example you can put different engines into different cars, just like real life. And then modify aspects of that. It has much better and more body modifications also, the fact that you can change the colour of your car to something other than what you can choose at the car dealer is a big bonus, and another of those "wtf??" moments you have in GT. I could go on for ages, and even though I'm anti-Sony, I traded my Xbox1 for a PS2 at one point, when I still thought the PS2 was king... boy was that the biggest mistake I ever made? Hell yeah.... especially since it was not long before Forza came out. Oh before I forget, SOUND! One of the most important aspects... something that's actually shocked me about the GT series, it seems like they've used the same sounds in all the games since GT1! They are pathetic, a looped skidding sound, for any loss of traction, that gets annoying real quick. Forza has great sounds, and at least has more than 1 generic turbo/BOV sound. GT is a great example of why I have such an anti-Sony view. Eg. They make something good enough for the general public to enjoy, yet leave out some things that are so obviously required that just make you think... "They must have either just forgot this... or it will be in the next one" The next one comes along, still missing obvious things, yet you go, "oh ok they added all this new stuff, but still forgot those basics that are simply required" maybe next one... next one comes along with new features, yet still lacking the base department (something in the core of the game) and you just think. Ok so this is number 4 - it's still missing all this basic stuff that SHOULD be addressed and just SHOULD be in the game, yet they add these quality visuals, and half-useless features (Photo-mode, which I actually love) BUT STILL forget to address things that should've been fixed up in GT2 ffs and just keep going on. And then on top of that, they will release a "Prologue" version... this is the biggest joke of all. Releasing what is essentially a demo of a game (that would normally be FREE to try) there is not another game that does some silly bs like this that I know of, anyway yeah, release a demo, charge 2/3's of the price of the final product, for something containing less than 1/4 of the features of the final product. Bunch of idiots buy it, then buy the game, and make them a shitload more money for nothing... while they "polish up" and yet again forget some of the most important bits to fix for the final product and then claim it's the ultimate of ultimates, when in fact a cheaper "Made in China" product has better quality for a lower price, if you know what I mean. They are money-hungry greedy a-holes - I mean why else would you create a digital camera or mp3 player or whatever that REQUIRES ONLY SONY COMPLIANT Hardware? Eg the memory stick pro's which costs at least twice as much as any other form of flash memory card for the same quantity of storage? No benefit.. while everyone else goes with something that is universal with nearly everything else you may need to use etc? Car Audio is one of the worst cases of this shit also. Some marketing monkey figured that the "Xplod" branding will cause retards to buy there stuff in huge quantities (because that's what you need to get anything decent out of it) and it will be like hot fire. And it was, pity then that you could buy something 50% cheaper that could handle and would go through more than the Xplods ever could... But it doesn't have as good a name, so people won't buy on research and technical specifications, but rather to look 'cool' with there new Xplod gear, because (I guess) they figured, damn it would be awesome to show the boys an Xplosion (which half the time, they did) lol... Anyway enough of the rant, I hope some people can learn from this and maybe do some research before buying something next time just because it's Sony it must be good. Sony slogan for this century should be: Sony. Get over it.
  15. Good stuff Dean, the extra media capabilities of the Xbox (even the original, aswell as 360) are also another big benefit to getting them, especially if you go the modded route. It turns into basically a gaming home theatre PC, with Wireless controls. Can't go wrong - and Forza shits on any of the GT series games, and not expecting much from GT5 either, except enhanced visuals.
