The carbon bonnet (what brand Ikeri?) didn't look so happy... it seems the clear coat is coming off, leaving just bare carbon fibre. The most suprising thing for me was that Ikeri's AE86 STILL has the factory sound system!!! It's a very clean example considering it's age... well done Ikeri

Actually Dave, it wasn't that busy this time. When I went last time (just on 4 years ago) it was definately busier. This time there seemed to be a whole lot more foreigners too... I think the whole "Japan is really expensive" rumour is finally dieing off and people are actually seeing Japan as a legit holiday destination.

"Ke" with a small "to" after it??? Do you mean small "tsu"? If you mean small "tsu", it actually make the syllable abrupt, for example "kekkou" (depending on the situation, it can mean "fine" as in "I'm fine" or "ok") would be pronounced as "ke...ko". Where the "..." is, you'd give an ever so slight pause, instead of pronouncing the entire word directly like "keko".

Dave it's the same for us Aussies... hand over your Aussie Drivers license, application form and passport photo, and get handed back a Japanese one (after an excrutiaing 3 - 4 hour wait). I wouldn't say there was heaps of red tape...

Mmmmm... the aero parts at least are "order made", meaning you order it then they make it. Having said that they're hideously overpriced! Those aero parts are just half spoilers and lip spoilers, but they're at "full-bumper" prices... the hassle of owning a not-so-popular car. The coil overs are about double the price of new Tein or JIC coil overs, but they are Ohlins... top shelf stuff. Even the muffler looks pretty ordinary but it's approaching the price of some of the cheaper Titanium mufflers. You might be better of making mods to an Apex N1 (or whatever) muffler to fit your car? In fact the only commonplace (read: cheaper) parts that you really can't make to fit your car would be the coil overs but at 348,000 yen (A$4,360) without shipping, you could probably ring up Whiteline Suspension to design some coilovers for your car from scratch and still have money over for lunch!

I'm in Ashiya in Hyogo-ken about 14km west of Osaka. Actually it takes about 10mins on the Shin-kaisoku from JR Osaka to Ashiya.
