  1. Thats fine mate. If thats how you feel then thats how you feel. Just don't assume too much into the cops (maybe) giving us a chance, and I'll do the same. Kell's cruises have always gone great and the police are quite flexible in letting the enthusiasts have their cruises. I've heard more tales on cars being defected individually, than on a cruise. Hope to see you on one of the cruises anyway
  2. But not more than 25?
  3. I'm gunna bring little tea bags of cement for everybody
  4. Yet again, Rhys has got nothing productive to say Nene, did we see any 32s on the day?
  5. Well I'm flat out again today and not getting my lunch break (again) today. Now that I've updated my journals for CAD, back to work ...
  6. Mmmm, Delamere I feel a long ride coming on this weekend ... Gorge, Lobethal, Strath, Victor, Delamere, Bay then home
  7. I would have thought the answer was obvious: to show some cooperation to avoid being defected.
  8. ... and I know 5-6 examples personally where the cops didn't nick me for mods.
  9. If thats your theory, then why wait? Why not nick us all (up to 25 cars) straightaway? Me thinks you guys just don't want to accept there are good cops out there
  10. Tangles, never invited the law before on any of my cruises. But this time they invited themselves and they treated us well and just wanted some cooperation back. They were very good about it, and its just incentives to let them know anyway. They're not invited to my rides thru the hills tho
  11. When the cops say "you can work with us and we will turn a blind eye to lesser things; or work against us", you've really got to consider the best interest of everyone on the cruise. They were polite about it, and we were only happy to conform to their request.
  12. As Nene has said, I too respect everyone's opinions and beliefs. It really was one of those "had to be there" matters to understand that we got treated well. They had the chance to defect up to 25 cars at yesterdays cruise, but they gave us advice and asked for cooperation. It might be a false sense of security, but its not like we could say "no" either. I'm at Vilis most of the Friday night meets, so you can usually catch me there ... eating cream donut with gravy
  13. That sucks Damo. I know you got that car and went about righting a few wrongs with it. I'm not saying all cops are saints, but they aren't all bad either. I've encountered a bad cop myself once. Bike got defected, I knew it was defectable, didn't argue that point, but it was the way he went about it. Still, I've had far more good experiences than not, yesterday was a good example. Did you get the missus's car sorted?
  14. Maybe we're being lulled into a false sense of security, maybe not Pete. Fact is, there were 25 cars they could have defected since people here believe that "we will always encounter cops on a power trip" and "90% of them won’t even know what it is/care ... They will still defect you" ... but 25 cars were not defected. Some people just seem to not have happy lives since they fear the worst will always happpen. I've encountered cops many times in the stagea and on my (modified) bikes and I've always had the quick glance, licence check and sent on my happy merry way. Oh, when I said excessive mods, I meant "dangerous" mods Pete A bov isn't dangerous, so only a warning was given. Bold tyres on the other hand would have attracted a defect. I'm sure their main target are young hoons ... but Mr Rann has put the hot poker up everyone's arse to make import drivers (and bikers/bikies) life tougher. This is a thread for serious conversation. If you want gossip go to ns.com
  15. Actually, the police have attended the meet spot of Kell's cruises in the past. How do you think she got a good rep? The cops left everyone alone thereafter. The stag cruise yesterday had cops turn up at the meet point, then we were left alone thereafter. No one's been defected thru cooperation.
  16. Paranoid bunch aren't we? And the hoon doing the burnout down the road is one owner of many imports. One bad import driver makes all of us bad? "All import drivers are hoons" "All cops are bad" The reality is somewhere in the middle. Cops have a job to do, yes some are too strict. Import owners have a passion for their cars, yes some are total hoons. The feedback we get anyway is all based on hearsay or a friend of a friend's story. Thats it in a nutshell. You can try to get along with the cops, or just be on your merry way and join the paranoid bunch with something to hide logging onto forums and being negative about the whole thing. So where is it said that Kellie is banning people with mods?
  17. Where does it say that? Cops have attended Kell's cruises before with positive results. What makes things so different now?
  18. Tsk, tsk, tsk ... I thought you knew your stageas Cubes. How is it ludicrous for cops to open bonnets? They are traffic police and they've been doing it for as long as I can remember. You're just all paranoid. The police asked us who we thought were the trouble makers and we mentioned the tag alongs. They have given us direct contact details for them and we will use that option when tag-alongs/hoons are involved. Kell's cruise has its own thread, and your comments have been noted there. You all have been watching too much Fast and Furious.
  19. Thats the message we got thru to the police yesterday.
  20. I'll be there. The guys don't understand Kell, they weren't there yesterday. I reckon the police attitude yesterday was very accomodating considering the recent death in Fulham Gardens and the squeeze they are under. I think this time the stags will outnumber the skylines the way this is going
  21. Unfortunately, thats a perfect world that will never happen. Best to steer clear of the hoon element. Best we can do is have a positive attitude ourselves and hope even a handful will learn from it. A bit like Amway Hoping when we get another motorsport venue alot of the 'hoon energy' will be used on the track.
  22. True. Wish everyone could witness first hand the effects of a good report card with the police. Kell's presence definitely made a difference yesterday and being polite to the police and giving them a map of the route and allowing them to have a quick glance over the cars (ie having nothing to hide) goes a long way.
  23. An interesting development from yesterday's Stagea cruise (our biggest yet with 25 Stageas! ... smashing my previous best of 16) ... Don't go flaming cops boys, because they DO read these forums. There was one particular cop from yesterday who wanted to work with us not against us by the name of Neil. Now Neil knows his cars, he's quite cluey, so don't try bullshitting him when you get caught ... in fact, don't try bullshitting any cops for that matter. Neil and his partner went over with a 'cursory glance' of our cars and politely pointed out a few items in need of attention. He wasn't there with an agenda or quota, and nor was he there to stir the pot. He did his job but gave us nothing to whinge about. We were all advised of the reprocussions of the WRX crash and police attitude to hoon driving. Neil and his partner simply looked under the bonnets, did a quick check and sent us on our way. Its days like yesterday that show the police we can enjoy driving within the speed limits and within our driving skills, and also shows us that the police are not there to ruin our party. And we also witnessed first hand that the police do know their cars and what they are looking for. They are not so much fussed about mods ... its the excessive mods and combined with hoon driving they are concerned about. If you ever get pulled over by Nigel the 'scot' (he's not bloody irish!) then come clean and don't bullshit him. Kudos also to Kell who rode with me. Her reputation with cruises that she so long protected thru thick and thin showed yesterday. Sure, she may not own a public place, but she is the organiser of the cruises and therefore responsible as far as the police are concerned. The police know her and her cruises and she has a great report card with the police. Next time anyone wants to slag off Kell, think again, you might just want to be under her 'umbrella' when the police take note of cruises. The police do read these forums ... make no mistake about that. We have been put on notice. One SAUer has been caught out for slagging the police on here. Kellie, myself and Nene have advised the police they will continue to be notified of cruises so we can maintain that good report card. We have Neil's business card and any trouble will be reported immediately. They have asked for our cooperation and in return we will be treated fairly. The police have asked us of who we think are the trouble makers and a certain breed has been named already, so it won't be repeated here (mostly unwelcomed tag-alongs). We have explained to the police that meet points are not disclosed due to unwanted tag-alongs such as the commonwhore club, but we will disclose cruises to police in future. Also, misbehaving and hoon driving will see you reported to the police ... we do that to protect the others attending the cruises. There is no point ruining it for everyone. How would you feel if the police picked on you due to another drivers hoon behaviour? Do we have 30+ cars checked over by police, or do we report that 1 driver who's causing the problems? We are not commonwhore drivers or ns.com Make no mistakes. The WRX fatality has the police lifting their game on hoons. Sure, we can argue we are not hoons etc, but its difficult to differentiate thru all the different community of drivers/clubs on the road, so they are casting their net far and wide and filtering out bad behaviours and attitudes first. Be polite and be honest ... and you may just be surprised. We certainly were yesterday. [end brown nosing] Mods feel free to lock this thread if it gets out of hand ... but I'm hoping it will have a positive effect on SAU attitude here.
  24. Thanks to all those who attended. We gathered 25 Stageas at one point, so it was a record-breaking cruise Awesome to see such a wide variety of stageas. The route to Lofty was a route I took us on after we missed the turn off to Uraidla ... so I took us via roads that I ride my bike on from Gorge to Lobethal, Uraidla and then back on track to Lofty via Crafers. Thanks to all those putting up with the slight change and for all driving within their limits. I would especially like to thank Neil the kind 'scot' police officer who attended our first meet spot. He did his job but gave us nothing to whinge about. We were all advised of the reprocussions of the WRX crash and police attitude to hoon driving. Neil and his partner simply looked under the bonnets, did a quick check and sent us on our way. Its days like yesterday that show the police we can enjoy driving within the speed limits and within our driving skills. The police do read these forums ... make no mistake about that. We have been put on notice. One SAUer has been caught out. We will be advising the police of our next Stagea cruises, and reporting any bad behaviour (and hoon tag alongs) in future to stay in their good books. Finally got that spark problem fixed? Wicked. Yeah, I'm getting the TLR all fixed up and regoed for the Toy Run. I can always take out the Brutale if the 'rolling thunder' isn't ready in time. I'll PM you later in the week with some MRA toy run info and a time and place to meet. I like to avoid the heavy cluster of riders (who haven't a clue how to ride) and ride more up front where its thinner.
  25. You mean "trim"
