  1. Is it true they are required to keep the auction sheets by law?

and also are you as the buyer permitted to view them?

I bought an s2 a few years ago from a dealer, and when I asked about the auction papers they said they dont keep them. Months later I was told they are required to keep them. I have good reason to believe the kms wouldn't have matched what the auction papers said...which would explain the secrecy.

They had the auction sheet for mine but no log books, so I didn't bother getting it.

I assumed that if the Kms aren't genuine then the auction sheet wouldn't be either (pretty easy to dodgy up).

  2. wondering whether to get a pre-purchase inspection done?

    i.e. compression test etc.

this will cost ~ $350 (i think), which i would normally say is worth it, but the car allegedly comes with 12 months roadside assist and 5 years warranty

so if anything major breaks, it should be covered

but i don't really want anything to break do i?

plus they're doing a full service, with timing belt, fluids, plugs etc.

    decisions, decisions

Your warranty will only cover specific things up to a certain value

  3. Hey thanks for that gerad, it helped me get the car to tell me what the problem was however i do understand how i come up with error codes? Is it the amount of times the light blinks or what?

    Edit:

Hmmmm nevermind, ill just tell what its doing.. It slowly flashes 5 times then quickly flashes 5 times. If im assuming correctly this means dtc code 55. all ok. yet i know there is an error? any ideas?

I think theres a few things listed in the manual that can cause the light to come on but not store any data.

If you want the r34 manual flick me a pm.

  4. best way to tell is to check the ecu's error codes, there is a way to do this with by crossing two pins on the consult port (i dont know which, but a search will find the tutorial), or ring a few mechanics (nissan) and see if they can scan the codes for you, or, i see your in Redlands, i'm might not be too far away, i'm in Cannon Hill and have Consult software and can check your error codes for you if you want.

even though the light has gone out the error code stays logged in the error code list so you can look it up.

  5. thanks mate

did you use Statewide cos they're local to you, or cos they have a good rep?

how much did it set you back? worth it?

do you think your 51,xxx kms were genuine?

which Stag did you end up with?

    cheers

I used statewide because they came up in a google search, they seemed ok, they give you a 5 page report which was pretty comprehensive, I paid $180 which I think was well worth it. There will always be things you miss on inspection so its worth having a professional check it out.

I don't know if the Kms are genuine, If its wound back I don't think its more than 20,000. (having said that, I haven't done the timing belt yet, my mechanic inspected it the other week and we're doing it next service, 90,000k, so who knows)

Mines a 25t x four, has the neo engine but no tiptronic comes standard with the xanavi set up, twin sunroofs, velour trim and electric drivers seat and different grille, otherwise its pretty much the same as the rs four

  6. I bought mine from Alex at Nagoya. I found them ok to deal with.

Had a pre purchase inspection by statewide, which Alex had no problems with.

Got the 3 year warranty (and have made a claim for $400 no problems)

    Xenons weren't ripped out

mine had about 51000 on it when I bought it, its now up to 83000 and has been great.

When you check under the mirrors for rust look inside the doors as well. Mine has no rust around the mirrors but theres a little inside the doors at the front.

Any secondhand cars a bit of a gamble, this was my first import and I haven't found it any harder to live with than a domestic, you just need to do your own research in regards to parts. Luckily we have Skylines Australia. (and fast :P )

  8. Unless you can get Stagea specific (wagon) springs you are better to stick with the stockers. Most cost effective handling mod is a (much) heavier rear sway bar. Bilsteins (sometimes sold under Nismo brand) will give handling improvement and can also be used to regulate height.

eibach have a pro kit spring set listed for the stagea.

part no: 6345.140, seems to be the same as the 97 Infiniti Q45

  9. hey i just read through this fourm and i saw that no1 said anything about wood grain cos mine is full of it, and also dose any1 have a 110v power point in the center console. cos i have read heaps about it and i havn't heard anything about.

    i have pics aswell

I have woodgrain, but steering wheel is leather (25t x four) I also have the power outlet, I use it sometimes for the ipod with one of those powerpoint adapters you get from the supermarket

  10. I'm running B F Goodrich G force profilers 235/40/18 I find them pretty good wet & dry.

cost about $1100 for the set fitted, there a 45 series in the 245 though

    recommended for skylines/wrx/350z etc

  11. Hi

I was wondering if anyone could post up MV's details PH No email and so on.

I am having my auto rebuilt and they are saying that they can’t get the good stuff to go back in (better bands & clutch plates) as the box is an unusual one.

I thort if I could call MV with my make and model they may be able to send the mechanic the part numbers.

    Thanks
