  1. Hi all, I've recently been lucky or maybe unlucky to some. My dear brother has purchased for me an R32 gtr from an auction house in QLD and has repaired all panel work and resprayed it as well for me. It's a very nice gift from him indeed but he said that the car's alignment is off so I will need to re get it done. Thinking that this was all I needed to get done before I could get it re registered in NSW and come along to the 10/10/10 cruise with SAU members but this no longer seems to be the case. First I got it to the wheel alignment shop, they put it on the hoist and straight away they said that if you want your car to drive straight you need to replace this left hand side castor rod as it was bent. So no problem I set off and found myself some nice adjustable cusco castor rods, i installed them then went back to the wheel alignment shop. They spent some time adjusting and adjusting then they said, somethings not right... the caster seems to be fine but because they couldn't really adjust much camber with the stock camber arms, they said that the car will still pull to the left due to the camber on the left hand side although it will be much better than it would be before. So again slightly confused as to why but no problem I set off to go get those pivoting adjustable camber arms from UAS then went back and got them installed and to get another alignment done. Thinking this was going to be all good and having the thought of the car driving true and straight again was making me smile. But then..... the camber got worse but the castor got better! They weren't sure either because the after market camber arms were in fact shorter therefore logically the problem with having positive camber of the left handside should of been corrected. So currently now were at a point that we think the car is bent on the left hand side some where. I've had a suggestion of going to get it on a chassis jig test and see whether the car is true and straight, so I went of to a local Body repairer panel beater but after hearing it was a japanese import they were reluctant to touch it and they were talking big numbers already. What do you guys suggest? is there a chassis straightening place you guys recommend in sydney, hopefully south west but if not no problem? Below are the results from the wheel alignment.. After installing castor rods (After installing camber arms): Rear axle Camber Left: -2.03 (-2.06) Right: 0.04 (-0.26) Toe Left: -0.12 (-3.9) Right: 0.13 (0.7) Front axle Castor Left: 2.22 (5.34) Right: 4.22 (6.01) Camber Left: 0.08 (0.21) Right: -1.59 (-0.23) Toe Left: 0.41 (0.3) Right: 0.52 (3.1) Also to avoid making another post in this section, i thought i might as well add it in here since its already a long post. Second problem that was really conscerning me was the brake pedal. It felt really mushy, light and not very good a braking so I did the first check of looking at the pads to see if there were any left. No problem pads were fine as well as discs. Next check was to check fluid levels, was a bit low, so got them bled and refilled. This actually help the pedal feel alot more but honestly i don't think this is the way its suppose to feel, its still got that initial slow down bite as soon as you step on it but then it dosen't really do too much more after that and if you want to wipe down a bit of speed you pretty much have to put that brake pedal down to the metal. I've had thoughts that it could be the brake master cylinder, any other thoughts? I'd like to thank you for taking the time and reading the post and I also will appreciate any input. Thank you Cheers, Ken

  3. Hi, Could i please get fasted BNR32309766 Thanks heaps, Cheers
  4. Im going to be there during the autosalon period and probably a bit longer. Any one know japan enough and will be there to take me and some friends around?
  5. Hi, Maybe just a newb question but i would like to ask why when we change our rims and tyres to a slightly larger say from a 17x7 to a 18x9. The handling of the car feels stiff and not so responsive. I thought the wider base would of made a better handling car. I understand that the manufacturer have made the settings of the suspension to accomodate the stock wheel sizes say 17x7. If this is the case how do modify the car to suit the new rims and tyres. This has been the case with a few cars that i've owned and other people i know as well. Also even after a complete wheel allignment it dosen't make it better. Thanks, Ken
  6. Thanks Duncan for the reply. I've taken a good look at the threads before i posted this one. I was more after specifically the Stack MFR model not MFD and more importantly what their software is like. Thanks, Ken
  7. Hi, Just wondering has anyone used the STACK MFR data logger and software? How do you find it? any difficulties? Also your opinion on how the MOTEC SDL stacks up against the STACK MFD? I'm considering to invest in a data logging system but kind of stuck of which one to go for. Was originally thinking Race technology DL1 but then some people think that its fairly limited and problematic. Obvious better choices would be Motec or PI but those are currently out of price range. Any opinions or previous experiences would be really good. Thanks, Ken
  8. i think i may have got the answer boys, or even just part of it. Its INTIMIDATION. When your driving an R34 GTR it intimidates the driver next to you, it makes you feel superior, through its looks, sound and the power below your right foot, these factors combined creates an illusion in your head making you feel special... hence the special feeling. What do you guys reckon?
  9. what do you reckon gives you this feeling? do you think it could be emulated into another car, say an rx7?
  10. Has any of you guys felt this same feeling in another car before?
  11. yeh its definately a blast to drive, going back to the story with the 997. I myself had the chance to drive a ferrai 430 and im telling ya i had much more confidence, rush feeling and would of definately been able to run circles around the ferrari. Its funny that no one can really explain why is it that we get this feeling from a gtr but not another car? Weird
  12. boosted barge you should definately own or at least drive one in your life, its something you'll never forget and when you think back you always smile about it. Its worth your while
  13. hmm... sounds interesting! I'll keep up with it.
  14. its so true Terry, reason why i've brought up this discussion is because i've sold my r34 gtr about a year ago and now i miss it so much, that feeling... man... i need it back in my life haha. But that aside what do you think the nissan engineers have come up with to be able to give us this crazy yet unique feeling of the R?
  15. Hey Guys, Me and my friend recently have been discussing a topic regarding skyline GTR's, we both think that from models R32 - R34 when driven gives a special feeling. We've tried driving all three and there's a feeling like no other. We've driven a variety of japanese imports as well as some european exotics but they cannot emulate the feeling an original GTR gives you. You guys may think were losties but we believe there are also some guys here on this forum that also believe in the same thing. We invite you to come forward and give us your opinion on what marks that special feeling as we have yet come to an answer. Thanks Ken

    Dilemma!

its not the fact that i badly want it on the road, its just i wanted to get it to the track and back home with the least amount of effort and troubles. And i thought by registering it legally that would be best. hehe i thought of that as well but apparently we can get carbon parts engineered here in nsw

    Dilemma!

yeah its predator motorsports old one but its been through some owners since then, also has been further prepped pushing decent figures.

    Dilemma!

I guess i could call up another engineer and see what they might say. Do you guys have any other recommendations? as in engineers. Heres the beast
  21. Hi guys I'm quite new to this forum and have recently become a member of SAU NSW club. I've tried searching with some success, PM'd people on the forum who've helped me out quite a bit and have even spoken to people outside but still no practical solution. OK case is ... Just recently I've got my hands on a R33 gtst series 1 but not a normal one, the whole body except doors, roof and rear fenders are carbon, RB26DETT swap thats been rebuilt plus aftermarket turbos, Full roll cage through the whole thing, pretty much a race car. The car is currently road registered in QLD but now because i've got it down here in NSW, i'll have to do the whole rego thing again. Now this is where it starts to get complicated. GOAL: To be able to drive the car to the track or workshop and back home without getting in trouble with the authorities. I've sussed out a couple of options: 1. Taken a look at Rally registration - This seemed to be the perfect idea until i spoke to Graham Humphries who is the person who pretty much puts through all the cars through the rally rego system. Because people have been abusing the system, things have changed since the past. So after much talk with Graham, the way its going to work now is that they don't like rally rego'd cars to be used as a system for general motorsport and used only in Rally. And with rally theres pretty much only dirt or tarmac. I aint doing dirt but with tarmac they're mostly interstate which again i ain't doing. So conclusion: NO GO 2. Get the whole car engineered, blue slipped then rego'd - I've been recommended by many to go to Autosport Engineering, so i've spoken to Greg regarding my case and what i'd like to do. Greg's a top bloke, was happy to answer any question i gave him and this seemed like the go until.... we found out that the engineer was notified by the rta that under no condition is he allowed to give an engineers report to any cars of this nature. Apparently there having a crackdown on road rego race cars. So conclusion: NO GO 3. There was an idea to revert the car back to stock to get it blue slipped as a standard car and then put everything back on. I thought that this would prove difficult as everything is pretty much modified so it would take alot of time and labor to get everything back to stock and back on. Besides even if after all that effort and the cars back on the road i'd probably get harrassed by authorities because i have no engineering papers. So conclusion: NO GO 4. Towing the car to and from the track using a trailor - I dont have the finances to afford a trailor plus no car that is capable of towing it. So again its a simple NO GO This is proving to be such a headache, please guys if you have any ideas please fire away. Thanks for your time Cheers, Kevin
  22. Cool thanks for all the replies. I'll try get it down to the mechanic and see what they say. Cheers Ken
