  2. oh and i've looked at the lightened flywheels, but for an outlay of $400-$500 it doesnt look like i'll be going that avenue right now. I'm hoping to pick up a spare (stock ) flywheel and have it machined and ready so I can do the swap over a weekend.
  3. Thanks for the replies guys Big help so far. So from what you guys have said it seems that the ceramic button is not for me. I'll call Jim tomorrow and see what he can offer in my price range Mick...
  4. Cool, thanks James. I'm happy so long as it's all above board, and we can eventually amend the constiution to include the second amendment and now that it's all said and done... KAZ FTW!!
  5. cool, so I guess we'll wait to see the constitution, and if there is any provision for it then i guess we'll go to a vote? but still I don't understand how it was opened up to other applicants?? how does the democratic process normally work? if the president of the US stood down, the vice president would fill his position, but would it then go to a vote? (<-not a rhetorical question). i may have a biased opinion, but it's a reasonable one I think... -M
  6. Question....and this may sound .....stupid.... but why exactly is this going to a vote when there were only 2 people nominated and seconded for the role at the AGM?
  7. Hi, I need to get a new clutch and need help figuring out which is best for me It's to find a new home behind an RB20 with near enough to 200rwkw. It will mainly be street driven, with a stint at the track (circuit) here and there. I tend to give the clutch a kick if i'm out of the power band and need to go in a hurry while cruising, and I currently have an organic faced exedy with a 2800lb pressure plate (so a heavy pedal doesn't bother me). So basically I want something that doesn't sacrifice too much driveability, and will go the distance... Also needs to be on a budget, so I think a Jim Berry is out of the question. I've been looking at the Exedy clutches sold by forum traders, either the Organic faced clutch, or a cushioned button clutch. How 'bitey' are the exedy cushioned button clutches? I've read through the drivetrain section and found a few conflicting reports (some say OK, others say difficult to master). The 'bite' wouldn't bother me so much, but i won't be the only one driving the car, so i'm looking for a compromise. What other brands would be suitable for around $450 Thanks in advance, Michael
  8. Hey what, if anything, is on at the airshow in the way of family fun stuff to do? I haven't been since i was a wee lad, but I used to have a thing for top gun so the planes were all the entertainment I needed back then But this time 'round I want to take the other half and the wee lass. So what's around to keep them entertained? Croquet and Cognac?

  19. Great publicity for the Skyline community! Police have applied to seize the car permanently, which would make the first car to be permanently seized a Skyline if it goes through. Sucks that Skyklines make the top 5 list: The five most impounded cars are: Holden Commodore Ford Falcon Nissan Skyline Holden utes Ford utes. The most common make of impounded cars are: Holden (50 per cent) Ford (16 per cent) Nissan (nine per cent) Toyota (five per cent) Honda (two per cent).
  20. i'm not sure if RB's have one but CA18's have a seperate solenoid which controls idle when the A/C is on. If there was a problem with this it might explain why there's only a problem when the A/C is on. Hope that helps...
  21. Hi, Having problems with my GTST, and can't engage gears when the engine is running. History: - Clutch is a modified Exedy heavy duty organic face clutch from Northern Clutch in Brisbane (bought a while/years ago) with a heavier pressure plate (~2800lb from memory). - Suspect the clutch was incorrectly adjusted when put in by workshop (wouldn't completely disengage until I made adjustments at the pedal - Couldn't go smoothly into 1 & R. Fine after adjusted). - I think the previous step may have caused the Throw bearing to wear prematurely (started making noises only a few months after clutch was put in bbut i was too lazy to go back and get it checked out. The Problem: - Problem happened when slowing down to lights from 4th to 2nd (low revs, nothing silly). wouldn't go into 2nd at all - Just prior something felt a bit odd upshifting (like it didn't engage properly? but no noises) - There is a squeaking noise from under the car when the clutch is pressed - Clutch master cylinder replaced recently enough (maybe 20K ago???) Troubleshooting: - Gears can be selected when the engine is not running - Can grab gear with engine running when car is rolling (2nd @ ~15kph?) - this is how we managed to drive home. - Pedal was a little lighter than usual for the last week or two - Fluid had moved down to half way in the clutch master reservoir (i'm guessing slowly over the last few months maybe?). - Filled the reservior to full marker and tested again - no joy - Checked for leaks - nothing visible at master or slave. No drops of anything under the car - Bled the Clutch at the master and tested again - same - Checked slave cylinder is pushing the release fork when the clutch is pressed - Seems OK - Replaced the slave cylinder anyway with a new one (Nissan Gen) - Flushed fluid and filled with new fluid. - Bled again and pedal regained it's firm feel - Started car and tried again to engage gear - same problem, won't select any gear Added Problems: - After replacing the Slave Cylinder and bleeding there is a vibration through the clutch pedal, and makes a strange noise which changes as the clutch pedal is pressed , and is different to the noise the throw out bearing was previously making. a bad sounding noise I had a look here to try and get my head around what could be going on. The animation showing how the release fork interacts with the rest of the clutch makes me think that there may be something going bad with the throw out bearing, and the way it pushes on the pressure plate. But then again, everyone that 've spoken to about the throw out bearing has told me that they've never seen a worn bearing cause any problems other than an annoying noise. Congratulations! you've reached the end of my novel....it was Professor Plum in the Dining Room with the revolver Please help!!! this makes 3 cars off the road all at once now Cheers, Michael
  22. there's some adjustment to be had in the clutch at the top of the pedal. Try screwing it a bit more so it drives the shaft thru the firewall a bit more. I had a similar problem ages ago after getting a new clutch. Adjusted and sorted the issue. Michael
  23. Thanks for that and thanks for the offer. The engine will be on the stand for a while so I went to bunnings and picked up some high tensile bolts
