Since when is that an option?? j/k

Oh hehe missed that - too subtle for me

I'll post this on the forum rather than a message - the whole point of a public forum is to share knowledge (or lack thereof ) With that sort of cone area, I would definitely put them in a sealed box. With two 15s you don't really need ported boxes to make big low-down bass. If you're going for SPL though, a properly set up, ported box with give you the numbers. Keep in mind that with a ported box, because you have to tune the ports for a narrow frequency range, sound in that frequency range will be much louder than the rest of the range. If you play a sine wave from, say, 10Hz through to 150Hz, and you have your box tuned to 25Hz, the sub will be noticeably louder at 25Hz than at 50. Yes, you can 'tune' a sealed box to give better response at a given frequency range, but overall they are a much smoother, more consistent setup. In a nutshell Sound quality: Sealed Volume: Ported

Oh yeah, a boost controller would be good I like to steer away from thick head gaskets to lower compression, I much prefer to do it with a combination of headwork and crank, rods and pistons. There's nothing wrong with a properly designed metal head gasket, I just prefer the other way

That's what I was thinking. We're a model-specific car club, and we should deviate as little as possible from the cars we are so enthusiastic about. That's Skylines, just in case anyone was wondering If we allow any vehicle to tag along on our cruises, we lose our identity as a club - instead of seeing a Skyline club, people will see a whole stack of miscellaneous cars going the same direction. Not what we want. If/when we have cruises that aren't strictly Skylines only, we want cars that sort of 'fit in' - I'm not trying to sound snobby here (hey I used to drive a lowered VC Commodore with pursuit rims and a whole stack of different shades of red on it, I know all about shìtty cars ) but we want to be indentifiable as a distinct group. Falcons, Commies, Barinas et al already have their own niche clubs - if they really want to come along on a Skyline cruise, there are usually plenty of spare Skyline seats and obliging drivers And what better place to tee up one of these seats than the SAU forums?

You sorta have it covered with the 'All necessary Hardware, Hoses, and Fittings' bit I'd add a decent fuel pump, upgraded air flow meter, and possibly things like cams, headwork, crank/rods/pistons, oil coolers etc depending on how suited the engine is to turbocharging in stock form and what you want to do with it. And don't forget a boost guage

The SEVS rulings mean that any car that's imported must be returned to bone stock condition for registration. Any import car yard should be able to get you a bone stock R33. Failing that, look in the for sale section here and see if anyone is selling one. Keep in mind that they are very popular as a basis for modification so you might have trouble finding one the way you want. Why not look around and see if you can find one that has at least some of the mods that you want already fitted?

Why do we have to have a blanket rule for ALL cruises? We can discuss this at our next meeting Slip/Gary/Birty/Abu53, but here's what I suggest: * Cruises where we aim for a large majority of Skylines but allow specifc cars (eg other Nissans, or imports or whatever) * Cruises which are strictly Skylines only. I'm a fan of just about anything that goes, stops, steers and looks the goods, but as has already been stated, this community is all about Skylines. You can look at this as a reward for those that already own a Skyline, and incentive to buy one for those that don't * We could also have invitation-only cruises/events, to reward loyal members, or members who've made a valuable contribution * Obviously, if someone has previously proven themselves to be a dickhead, at an SAU event or elsewhere, they will NOT be welcome. We want to keep these cruises incident-free and legal. Anyway, this is just off the top of my head and is just meant for discussion. Feel free to poke holes in my post

He does indeed http://www.soundoff.net.au/site/index.htm will give you an idea - he's a registered dealer for a number of brands but can get you just about anything you want. He did the alarm and stereo in my car - he gets ALL of my auto electrical work. Tell him I (Marc) sent you and I'll kick his butt if he doesn't look after you

... and try to get hold of the 'owner's' key, not the valet one. Once you get the boot open you should be able to get a locksmith to make you up a new key. Actually, from memory, the valet key is also unable to lock/unlock the glovebox, so you might be able to get a key cut from that.

Hehe yeah, the earlier model R1's weren't *that* fast in gear. At Darlington Park I dragged one off going down the back straight - niether of us could believe it, I just shrugged my shoulders and kept passing him Was that a 1st gear run on the bike? Most litre bikes will do over 130km/h in 1st and many also have torque limiters, so it's not until second and sometimes third that they get full power. Try it from 150 or 200 Actually my brother ran a black R32 GTR on my bike, 2nd gear roll-on from about 100 to 180 the GTR was only four or five carlengths back. It shot flames on backoff too and sounded angry he reckons

Tried racing them around a corner? Just cos they're slow in a straight line doesn't mean it's a shitbox. By that logic, a $2m McLaren F1 is a shitbox because a $20k GSXR1000 will beat it over the ¼ mile. It's a different matter of course if they think their car is the fastest thing around, or if they somehow think that you're 'below' them because you didn't spend as much money as they did. Then it's time for an arse whipping

Hehe yeah I had some chick in a Kia Mentor decide that she didn't want to let me in front of her when I was trying to merge onto the Ipswich Motorway at Wacol one time, as soon as she saw me indicate she nailed it and sat up the butt of the car in front. So I just pulled in front of the car she was tailgating while laughing at her and giving her the finger... and no, she wasn't hot I had a guy in a govt car a few years back decide he didn't like me. There was a truck doing 80 in front of me (again, on the Ipswich motorway), so I indicated to change lanes. The bloke driving the Magna in the other lane (about two carlengths back) floored it and plugged the gap. I pulled in behind him, gave a flash of the high beams, and left it at that. Well, the retard just went off his nut, he started brake testing me - which wasn't a problem as I always leave plenty of room, and the 'line brakes are better anyway - and taking off, swerving all over the place, and even hitting the windscreen washers to spray my car with water (wtf??). But the funniest bit (actually the second funniest) was when he'd braked and I'd changed lanes and ended up beside him. He obviously decided that he wanted to get in front again so he nailed it, I just laughed at him and dropped it back, bye bye Magna The actual funniest bit though was when he got out of his car when we both stopped at an intersection and he started screaming things like 'I'm gonna farkin kill you' etc, I looked back and he was a 5'6" scrawny balding redhead :bahaha: I got out too, stood so close he was spitting on my arm when he talked, and said 'get the fùck back in your car before you get hurt'. He backed away a couple of steps, got back in his car, wound the window up and sat there looking disgusted until I moved out of the way :finger:

Why you should pay attention while driving...
Revhead replied to Revhead's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Dunno, it was just in the same holding yard as my mate's bike. It had backed into something fairly solid (like a power pole) at a decent rate of knots, just to the right of the centreline. The rear bar was almost level with the back of the parcel tray at the point of impact. Ouch. -

This all happened in a 60 zone - goes to show how much damage can be done at even a relatively low speed. He wasn't speeding, we're confident that recently installed traffic surveillance cameras (it's a bit of a black spot) and the acco investigation people will prove that, so he'll be right in that regard. Please don't look at this as a reason not to ride a bike! I've worked in hospitals for the past six years and I've seen some horrific injuries, but I'm still perfectly happy to ride a bike. Why? Partly because I think life would be pretty boring if you wrapped yourself in cotton wool all the time, partly because I accept the increased risk as a part of riding a bike, and partly because many of the bike-related injuries are self-inflicted. That doesn't make them any less severe of course, but it does mean that they were, more than likely, preventable. In general, riding a bike is only as dangerous as you make it. Cases like this prove that you can't always predict when something is going to happen, but you can reduce the chances of coming off by your own fault by making sure you look after #1. I always try to predict what other drivers are going to do, look at sidestreets and set up and escape route just in case someone pulls out without looking, make sure I have a way out if the Volvo beside me suddenly changes lanes, the list goes on. I've found that this is by far the safest way to ride, and I think it has improved my (car) driving too. There are always ifs and buts in this situations, but it's certainly not going to stop me or anyone I know from riding. Thanks for your concern guys, I'll be passing them all onto him. Although he's OK, he's still pretty shaken about the whole thing (he spewed on the ground a few times when we went to look at the bike) so these kinds of messages will help him get over it PS I was wondering how long it'd take for someone to notice the 33 -

More pics -
I've posted lower quality pics to keep file sizes down, so sorry if they look a bit dodgy. A mate of mine T-boned a Commodore on his recently-purchased R6 - the guy pulled out of a side street and he had nowhere to go. The guy in the Commy was completely uninjured, but my mate has a broken wrist, sprained ankle, a few stitches in one shoulder and numerous grazes, bruises, cuts etc all over him. The police apparently measured the distance he was thrown - 9 metres before he hit the ground. He's actually very lucky that he landed mostly on his head, as he wasn't wearing leathers at the time, and his helmet absorbed a lot of the impact. There is a hole left around where one of the plastic vents used to be, but other than that it's remarkably intact. The guy got out of his car and the first thing he said was the almost cliché'd "sorry mate, I didn't see you" Bright blue bike with the headlight on, in the middle of the day... right... When we went to the holding yard for these photos, they couldn't believe he wasn't either killed or, at the very least, still in hospital... and this coming from people who see crashes all the time. Looking at the pics, it's easy to see why. He is one VERY lucky bloke. Please PLEASE keep your eyes open for other vehicles (particularly bikes) on the road. I'm sure anyone who rides bikes will tell you that they've had near misses very similar to this at least once or twice, it's unfortunate that sometimes it ends like this. As the police are still making their investigations I won't be commenting further on specifics. Ride/drive safe people.

Need help with mags for my r33
Revhead replied to noise's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Some TE57 Volks... in white of course. I have a set of ROH Drift-R wheels. Mine are 17s but you get the idea - http://members.optushome.com.au/turbo202 -
I had dry joints in the control module in the door. Pull it off, locate the dry joins (mine were below a relay) and resolder them. Job done.

PFC will work with ALL of the stock sensors, that's the whole idea of it. You can definitely change AFMs though (along with just about anything else), the PFC does have some of the more common options pre-programmed in. Microtech LT8 is, from what I've heard, fine for making power, but lacks a little in the cold-start, low rpm, idle control etc area. It doesn't bother with these kinds of niceties, that's how they keep costs down. Well, that's what I've heard anyway. Maybe someone who has some experience with Microtechs can shed some light. It might be worth getting someone to retune the Microtech before you fork out $1300+ for a PFC - it's possible you just have bad part-throttle tuning. Have you already modified the loom?

Skyline mats used, Syd/Bris only
Revhead replied to 51jay's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Which type of mats are they? The grey ones or the higher-spec embroidered-looking ones with the plaque on the centre mat in the back and (I think) both front mats?
