  1. Theres a detailed tutorial in the Audio and electrical section to guide you - have you read it? And using that guide the R34 stereo removal takes all of about 3 minutes from start to finish.
  2. The R34 is a great car, superb steering and roadholding, excellent performance, very robust engine, that gives an easy 9.7l/100km in general driving so excellent on fuel mileage - have never had a problem in 2 1/2 years apart from replacing coilpacks with Splitfires at the 60K mark on the odometer and put in std copper plugs in place of iridiums, and the cig lighter internals falling apart (can't charge my fone now!!!) - now the downside - yes everything has a downside- 1) the suspension is very harsh on bumpy roads (that means nearly every road in NSW) and 2) largely due to the stupid 4.3 diff ratio, the manual gearbox 1 st and overdrive 5th gearing can be somewhat frustrating - first gear gets you only about one or 2 car lengths before you have to get second (unless you want to go to near redline every time you start off) and then when in 5 th cruising on freeway your doing over 3000 revs at only 110km /hr -- when its clear the engine could easily run at 110 at almost half those revs - even my VY Commodore cruises silently and effortlessly at 110 at less than 2000 revs - so in my opinion the R34 is just revving away on the freeway at 3000 for no good reason - a ridiculous situation- why did Nissan not provide a 3.2 diff ratio option? 4) poor gearbox selector gating means it fairly easy to pick up the wrong gear from time to time if you are'nt paying full attention (once went from 2nd at about 70k/hr direct to 5 th but it still accelerated quite well so did not bother to drop back to 3 rd).) 3) everyone wants to race you or overtake you no matter how unsafe for them or you - its just pathetic the amount of attention you get that it makes almost every outing uncomfortable at some point - should mention have never been stopped even for RBT or anything else in past 2 1/2 years so the unwanted attention is just from other road users - never a problem from other Skyline drivers either!. To summarise :the R34 its just not a comfortable practical car to drive on really long trips especially on the average pot-holed, repaired and or just plain bumpy and second-rate road system we have - in that situation even the VY is a winner over the R34.
  3. you have'nt given the most important infor - do you get an emgine warning lite and the code it is flashing or not? if its coils or ecu you would get the code flashing problems like you describe unless related to loose connections would point to air or fuel not in correct ratio at high revs when booted hard obly as you say a slow rev up is OK - so make sensible guesses as to why the ratio is wrong at high boot up (e.g. fuel pump cannot deliver enough fuel quickly - blocked, worn , and maybe filter clogged etc) and read the R34 Manual if necessary
  4. first rule is - unless your brother cannot live without an auto get a manual car second rule is - be ready to put new Splitfire coilpacks in very soon and very expensive if you are now in any doubt about what to do apply this thought - a first car should be something cheap and simple to run and insure etc - if you cannot do your own basic Skyline servicing and repairs get a Commodore
  5. if you have one for sale pm me or fone me 0417-066617 - cd player part must be in working order - prefer buy and pick-up Sydney area
  6. Top Gear UK has now achieved the status of most popular show on British television. Which is no doubt true because its no longer a car show but fills a void in the area of popular entertainment. What this means is that Top Gear UK is in reality now just a sad shadow of what it once was. Now it has become just a mish mash of purile idiotic crap and self-centred ego stroking featuring 'celebrities' and ' lite humour' , with only the odd rare bit of real car action thrown in . As was the case in the last Top Gear UK series, in this new series there was about 5 minutes of real car enthusiast action in the hour long show - so, so boring! You want facts and technical info and motoring action - watch Drive It , or Cruizin and Gasolene on TVS (on Sydney tv maybe on other channels in other states) - I leave out Custom Restos because it too, in common with Top Gear UK, is mostly just an excuse of a car show with a presenter longing to exhibit both his own insuperable ego and a peculiar fixation relating to a part of his rear anatomy. With all the different brands and models of sports and GT cars being produced around the world the selections usually shown on UK Top Gear are so limited -the ubiquitous Ferrari/Porsche/BMW/Jag appear in virtually every episode .........boring.............very very very boring And they always slag off anything Japanese esp Nissan made and anything Australian. And who wants to see caravan demolition derbys and similar tedious cheap time filler crap in what is supposed to be the true enthusiasts car show? When did you last see an 18-28 car enthusiast , someone like yourself maybe, given any exposure or involvement in any Top Gear UK episode? The sad reality is that if you want to achive huge television ratings - which is Top Gear UKs main obsession- you got to give a show designed to attract pensioners and gays, housewives etc - (here you can insert any category or class apart from actual car enthusiasts) - as committed viewers - you stop producing a show for true car lovers to watch . They even boast the alleged fact that the midgets main role is to get women viewers to the show, and no doubt May is the link to the pensioner set, and its your own guess as to who is meant to bring the gays on board, and Jeremy's appeal is to all boofheads, of course. NOW REPEAT TEN TIMES : Its not a car show - ITS just POPULAR LIGHT ENTERTAINMENT .... thats all. PS none of this is a criticism of gays and pensioner etc - generically their fine people, but they should have their own shows on British TV.
