  1. Hi my RB20 is close to giving up so im going to need to do an engine swap.

    Im after ideally an RB20DET long motor as its then an easy swap around.

    BUT I would like an RB25DET to put in my 32 then id need an loom and ecu aswell not needing turbo as ive got a HKS2530 turbine on the 20 now

    Can pick up around the northern rivers area gold coast n such if the price is right :yes:

  2. Well I've decided to stick with the 20 :D Gonna use the money i saved to guy some cams to put in the new engine and get a catch can n get it tuned better :)

    I will be needing 1 x RB20DET long motor lol

    would a motor with 100,000 kms or so be alright? n if its been compression tested is around 130psi alright? (just from doing a quick search)

    ps. seen my first R35 GTR up the gold coast yesterday n they look sick az in the flesh it was black n the numberplates were IIIV i think...... :P

  3. Well i've thought of putting a 25 in it but i've already got pretty good mods for the 20 i have like HKS2530 turbo, gtr injectors, z32 afm, front mount big fuel pump n a nistuned ecu....

    I guess i could sell all that stuff to help finance a 25 conversion :P

    The conversion dosn't sound very hard with what i've read up on it although id be wanting a 25 box otherwise i think id snap my 20 one if i put it up to the 25 haha

  4. Well black betty went into the mechs to get a compression test today and found out my engine is on its last legs, as im not sure what compression a normal 20 is ment to be i believe these results dont sound good at all

    1 - 90

    2 - 85

    3 - 60 (90 wet)

    4 - 85

    5 - 90

    6 - 100

    I think I will stick with the 20 as its easier and a cheaper swap

    as i live on the northern rivers in nsw does anyone know where is a good place where I can pick up a long motor? drivin to the gc or bris would be ok to pick one up.

    or should i rebuild my 20?

    im lookin to spend at least 1500 what should i do?

  5. Ok so basically just to get it going i will keep the standard injectors in place. With the Z32 AFM i have both plugs there so I can use either standard or Z32 which is awesome.

    Also ive been told a 300ZX computer will work with an RB25 is this true?

    and yeah I know the 2530 will be too small so I guess I will eventually sell it for a bigger unit

    so basically all i have to sort out is wiring and heater hoses is there anything else?

  6. Well im about 99% certain ive lost a cylinder on the 20' So im looking at doing the RB25DET conversion as its not much more expensive for a 25.

    Just wondering if the HKS2530 turbo i have on the 20 will be alright to put on a 25 and will my GTR injectors and Z32 AFM go in alright?

    My ecu is a nistune item will I need a 25 ecu or can the 20 ecu be tuned for the 25?

    I believe there is a lil wiring involved changing the 20 loom for a few bits and pieces and so on covered in some of the posts ive read.

    Any info is appreciated

  7. Im currently having the same problem except ive narrowed mine down to cylinder no 3, im testing coilpacks atm now going to do injector test. if they are good then ive def busted a piston and or cylinder and im up for a new engine.

    But the weird thing is, my car drives fine, yeah it shudders on idle but it boosts fine so yeah i thought if i had a busted piston it would be making unhappy noises.

  8. just an update... I cant find the option to edit my first post so just letting everyone know ive already got the R/H reverse light and shocks n springs sorted

    My wanted list has changed now lol the wheel is still a priority but not so much the other things as i got rego comin up so might have to hold off the boot lid n din pocket n stuff for a month or so :)

  9. Hey just after some bits and pieces to get my car lookin good again

    Im after a few parts so here goes...

    Exterior

    1. Springs to lower suspension (ie king springs) I dont want cut springs

    2. RH Rear reverse light

    3. Standard gtst 5 spoke wheel just 1, no tyre needed pretty sure its 16inch

    Interior

    1. single din pocket (ive converted double din stereo to single and now have a hole there!)

    2. upper rear side garnishes that go to the side of the rear window (will provide photo to show whats needed.)

    Thats all i can think of atm

    I will need a rear boot lid at some stage later on and maby an rb20det motor too

    I live in northern nsw if thats any help

I pulled the intake piping off to find a pool of oil lying in the bottom of it today.... :down: I mean a fair bit of oil too so i took off the intake to the turbo off to make sure its not my turbo oil seal thats goneski and there was a pool of oil in there too so basically i need a catch can now.

    I also checked all the spark plugs to see if any were fouling (making my car sound its lost 1/2 a cylinder) only the plug in cylinder 3 was oily and i mean the thread and the outer electrode but the tip wasnt oily! this must be the bung cylinder i guess, im going to clean the oil out of everything and buy a catch can for the car and see how i go,

    if it dosnt get better and i dont get my cylinder back i guess its new engine time :P

  11. Hey all I went to my first drag meet in casino on the weekend, It was a good turn out over 120 cars n they havin another meet on the 23rd of may for more info go to www.summerlanddrags.com

    Anyways my best time was 8.36sec on the 1/8th mile it was pretty hard to get traction as it was a street surface (airport strip lol)

    I done 7 runs on the day and after the second last run the car sounded a little different.... i thought nothing of it really and done a last run and it didnt have near the same power as the last run and as i looked behind there was lots of blue smoke... as i limped the car back to the pits it definately sounded like its kinda missing in one cylinder, as if its lost compression. I poped the bonnet and saw oil around the blow off valve and oil sprayed on parts around it, now im thinking the engine has bad blow-by in one or more cylinders and i dont have an oil catch can. basically oil is getting pushed into the intake i believe causing the smoke... the car made the 80km trip home fine but still dont sound right.

    So basically i believe i need a new engine soon and as I live in yamba nsw on the north coast where would I be able to buy one?

    I wanted to swap my turbo gtr injectors n the like onto the fresh motor

    im fairly mechanicly minded so i can do most things myself but cant build an engine lol

    Any help would be appreciated, Cheers
