  1. Well by the looks of the fuel filter its got some age to it :) I guess i will have to de-pressurise the fuel system prior to taking the old one out but cant read jap on the fuse cover so unsure which relay to take out? and anyone know what the fuel filter model number is by chance?

URAS - ECU was nistuned by PITS a fair while ago ive made a few changes since then so might be time for a new tune, im thinking of taking it to mercury motorsports after I buy a different exhaust thats not so restrictive :)

    Cheers for the wisdom

  2. Hey all just have a problem thats kinda annoying me atm with the three two, the car has been starting to surge under boost a bit lately at around 4500rpm and upwards on 14psi and when I turn the boost up to 18 It gets worse. I know its not the plugs and the car is not missfiring at all Ive gapped the plugs to 0.8mm and cleaned the coil packs and all connections. the car has a HKS GT2530 turbo, front mount, GTR resistor pack n injectors, Z32 Air Flow Meter, pod, turbosmart dual stage boost controller and full 3 inch exhaust cat back but legal DB so not that loud.

Just would like to know why car surges under boost and if anyone else has the problem?

  3. I recently completed this job and man its tough. I also had never done it before so was a huge learning curve for me also, saved myself over a thousand dollars too but lost a little blood sweat n tears also. keep in mind if it has never come off the car before there are hidden traps like split hoses and things breaking while taking everything apart.

  4. Nice work man.

I replaced all of mine recently after taking out a broken stud (snapped inside the block, right up the firewall end), decided I wasnt keen on waiting for the next factory stud to break so I replaced all 12. Dont need to use an EzyOut though, just lock two nuts together and turn them until the stud turns out, then use new studs and nuts.

What temp. paint did you use for the manifold?

Your lucky! all five of mine broke flush with the block so couldn't get them easily out :)

The paint i used was called MOTOSPRAY HEAT PROOF to 815°C in silver colour

Here is an updated pic of manifold installed. I used a COMETIC metal gasket with clear SILASTIC on both sides of gasket surfaces.

Next step turbo install + Dump and cooler piping and hopefully should be able to fire her up tomorrow arvo :(

  6. I've done a search and havnt found much info on cleaning turbos while they are out of the car.

im currently halfway through removing/replacing exhaust manifold studs and while everything is apart taking advantage of making sure everything is clean and in good condition.

Just wondering if its ok to take off the compressor cover on the turbo to clean the blades and the inside of the turbo? Will it but the turbo out of balance at all? its a HKS GT2530 with garrett front cover.

Any help appreciated car in shed been in there for 3 weeks now really missing driving it :P

    Cheers Rohin.

  7. I pulled my HKS2530 off tonight as im changing exhaust manifold studs and it looks like it needs some tlc.

Ive done a search and this is the only thread ive found about cleaning a turbo and I think it is ok to take the front cover off a turbo just make sure it goes back on the same way you took it off. like put 2 dots on either side one on core and one on cover then when your putting the cover back on just line the dots back up :D

Im just not sure about using degreaser? could it hurt the seal behind it? im thinking of using a rag soaked in degreaser and an old toothbrush so theres less chance of it hitting the seal.

    Any ideas ?

  8. have you tried accessing it by removal of your parcel shelf as well as in the boot? just an idea

Well i got the wiper off and under that is a plastic cover. then there is a circlip which i took off and there was a washer and another cover. under the cover looks like it used to be a nut of some sort...badly rusted. is it supposed to be a nut or something to undo from here i dunno what to do now the 3 bolts in the boot that hold the motor on come off easily

  9. Hi just wondering what the performance differences would be between these 2 turbo back front/dump pipes

They are both stainless but one is a split dump and the other 3" non split.

Is there much performance gain in having a split dump pipe?

I have the first one on my car its not stainless though bolted to HKS2530 on RB20DET standard exhaust manifold

Here are the 2 im looking at

    JJR Stainless 3" Bellmouth Front/Dump Pipe - Nissan $199

    jjrdumpfrontrb.jpg

    OR IS THIS ANY BETTER?

JJR Stainless Split Dump & Front Pipe - Nissan Skyline $269

    jjrsplitdumprb.jpg

Reason being - Im doing exhaust manifold studs atm and could do upgrade at same time

sorry if this has been covered before
