  1. ive had a bit of a look into this. A) around $400 i was quoted roughly B) Pretty easy fix relatively speaking (not highly structural and usually small and surface) - best to do it asap C) most cases, a qualified professional will consider it to be an "easy task" D) not in brizzy panel shop will do it if it is not too bad, alot of places dont deal with rust because they are mostly insurance mobs. providing it is not too deep, it can be rubbed back, treated, bogged and sprayed rather easily. put some kill rust or fish oil on it in the mean time to stop it getting far worse. it is hard to find a stagea recently imported free of rust in this location, every one i saw had it, some worse than others. ensure there is limited rust elsewhere and in non structural locations. mine has rust but the rest of the car is perfect!

    Cruise Control

was it a self install or a "propper job" there are only a few mechanics in my town which i would consider, but no deditaced auto sparkeys, only mechs with good with sparky stuff. might phone the nissan dealer and see what they can do for me... ($$$)
  3. hi guys, ive driven my stagea 3 times and already have a fine for $200 because i got caught speeding - it is just to easy in this car, in the datsun you felt every km, this one warp speed is a stroll in the park. i'm looking into a cruise control kit to beter enable consistent driving at the 100km speed limit as i found the sweet spot to be in the 120 region - hence the fine i also have an ichy right foot and having something to maintain speed for me would be fantastic. i hate speed alerts because they dont do anything besides give you the shits with beeping when you are 1km over. i also do a lot of hwy driving i was wondering if anyone had fitted cruise control to their stagea - or skyline? which one you bought? any issues associated with the install? and if you did it yourself? i'm keen on an AP 50 kit (google it) and although it has a simple control panel, it has what i need, works for cable operated throttle bodies and has brake cut out. it uses magnets on the tail shafts to give a pulse reading, yet i have read that it had a max pulse reading of 5000 per minuite, which in some 4x4's this has been fitted to tend to not work above 100kmph. considering the stagea has a pretty high dif ratio (4 speed auto) compared to a rock climbing 4x4 i',m assuming this will be alright. also have read mixed reviews regarding the tailshaft magnets falling off - some do some dont... about $200 for the unit is not too bad considering my speeding fine was $200. but let me know what you think, or any past and wonderful threads on the subject, my search revealed nothing. Cheers Dan

    Dash Switch?

bit of a hijack but what does the button do which is located behind the steering wheel on the dash which looks like .I--o--I. .....l...... .....S..... .....l...... .I--o--I. (ignore .'s) sorry for the crude font sketch and what is the purpose for the snow switch on the console it is an rs4 - so i guess it just shifts to 2nd early to stop spinning yeah?
  5. i think at this stage i'll aim to get a hold of a better air cleaner as it is the cheapest bang for buck item 2nd the exhaust and go all out on a nice big but quiet system turbo to tip 3rd fit a slightly bigger intercooler is this the most logical progression or should it be another way like exhaust before filter or cooler before exhaust. not experienced with efi or intercoolers - very noob at this stage and having trouble finding consistent answers through the search option
  6. i got 450kms to 3/4 of the fuel guage - being a new car to me i didn't want to get stuck on the bruce hwy with no fuel this also included the initial "oh my god listen to the turbo" and boosting it every single time i went past a pedastrian thinking i was the shiz (which there is now no doubt i am). so i think if maybe i manage to stick to 100 and avoid unnecessarily dramatic accelerations to the posted speed limit or overtaking. i'm not ready to start spending $ on an ecu so i was aiming for more "bolt on" modifications also with a stock tune and engine, what fuel octane should i be running? is standard ulp ok if i dont wind up boost etc?
  7. and a double post to prove i'm new at this...
  8. Hi, just got a hold of my rs4 series 2 stagea yesterday and drove it back 600km's to my home. i know not to expect a reasonable fuel economy but i found (altough my pace was above - lets call it "average") it was not the most ideal figure i had hoped for. now i'm all up for efficiency - if i do something i'll do it properly, but if it is not worth doing then i wont. a mate of mine owned a wrx and said he recieved not only a noticable power gain but decreased consumption with a 3 inch system, high flow cat and split dump. he also put a k&n panel filter (more legal this way) and said the car spooled up quicker but under general driving the fuel economy was far better and similar to an average aussie six (which my stagea now is definately not) so i'm wondering if it is worth getting a full turbo back exhaust or just front or rear section and if there is a significant increase in efficiency or is worthwile expendature in having a split dump over a bell mouth is there anything else worth doing (other than reducing my distance to time ratio ) which would significantly reduce fuel consumption in both high and low speed applications. the last turbo i had was a 25psi suck through l20b in a datsun - far from efficient - so any teachings would be greatly appreciated
  9. the s1 i test drove had dual sun foofs and was pimpin but the s2 i'm set on doesnt have them, but considereing i'm getting this one at a reasonable price with better condition and better motor, i can live without a sunroof, afterall this is meant to be a family/long term highway cruzer that the missus is comfortable with and i can also enjoy (my datsun is 3000km in a garage - the silly car). opinions are always varied regarding sunroofs, i guess being in a part of australia which has experienced 138mm of rain in 6 hours - 1 less thing to leak is a bonus . overall this thread and some others on this forum has been brilliant in assisting me to find the "right one" for purchase. it has been an exceptional resource - unfortunately i have found the DIY and mod pages... i look forward to getting this thing and being a long term registered lurker on the site. Cheers
  10. i'm just in the market for a stagea now despite being an option, every s1 i have seen has dual sun roofs i'm after a s2 because of the tip tronic auto and the neo engine seen a perfect s2 i'm in the process of buying but has no sunroof - i would like it for added wank factor but i guess it means no leaks or something else to break i'll get over it...
  11. has anyone ever come across a stagea without a sunroof?
  12. Hi Guys, Just signed up ive been looking to get a stagea for a while as the POS magna i have is about had it the missus and i are in need of a nice car aand wagon abd the stageas and comparable in price and specs to a commodore wagon to which we are also looking at. the stagea is my preference obviously as i am a datsum man (hence the 910trx username ) There is a bloke in a yard here is selling a mint s1 rs4 for $11990 - had it for a year in the yard but wont come down to my expected $10k so i'm puttring the feelers out there for someone selling a stega in (northern portion of) qld somewhere s1 for $10k or s2 for $12k but i'm a hard bastard. i have mates in brizzy if desperate can look for me or if round the sunny coast can do a drive i'd love to rock up at the dealers in a newer stagea and tell him not to keep my number anymore This a serious request Car must have RWC and be Auto (missus cant drive man) cash is waiting for the right car send or post pics, specs and prices - it is hard to tell through the for sale what is recent and what is sold or serious Thanks in advance Daniel
