Today/tonight Tagerting Car Lovers.
hamiltonau replied to R TUNE's topic in General Automotive Discussion
this has been all over the car forums today and it was heartening to know people are paying attention and ready to defend themselves, the problem is as stupid as the show is it does influence a huge cross section of the population and when they slant stories in a certain light it puts more pressure on authorities to make life harder for the average car enthusiast. ie biased articles (telegraph is guilty of it too) force the cops to act and come down hard on the more innocent majority of performance car drivers. was thinking though, i wonder how many of the reporters/staffers cars would pass a strict defect station? Anyone up for heading to the respective offices of ACA and today tonight and doing a comparo to see who fares better? -
yeah i had that impression, will i might fight the 'drinking while driving a motor vehicle' ticket i just got even though i blew 0.00 on the breathalyser. Spent half an hour with the cop being the most polite, sweetest, rego sticker moving so he could read it better, agreeable perp ever and i STILL got a ticket for $265 most expensive beer. EVER Im dubious on the never lost a LIDAR case lawyer, thats not that loophole finding guy that says we dont even need licences as its our 'right' to drive and who Sean Hardy who runs this traffic forum http://www.trafficlaw.com.au/forum/ makes pains to point out is full of utter crap? This is scotts site http://www.speedingf...ott-cooper.html It seems legit if a little too good to be true, god i wish i had found that site before i paid the fine in December....still he apparently isnt immune to the law himself.. http://www.brisbanet...0704-1gxq0.html hope you havent paid the guy yet Jap Muscle.. edit/ the guy i was thinking of who is a bit of a scammer runs some site called aussie speeding fines, its given a fair drubbing by Sean hardy on his forum, here is one example pointing out the difference between him and Scott if you get to page two http://www.trafficla....php?f=24&t=491 also relevant

Just read all this, fascinating stuff. Had no idea cops hated preparing for lidar cases so much, I think I might actually fight my thirty over just to clog up the system a little. Especially if I can get a script to read out for four hundred bucks, how much is it tailored to each case jap muscle? Also I have started paying the fine in installments, not sure if that makes it too late to fight..

yeah but your talking about getting equivalent rigs and hiring professionals etc im talking about just getting a few guys who are keen to volunteer their time to take a couple of quick vids at meet ups, track days and the like. How hard would it be to have a few blokes line up beside there cars and stare off into the middle distance? It wouldnt be promo 'we win the internetz' quality but i think it would look pretty good for an amateur club production and even if it didnt it certainly would be fun/educational making it. just my 2cents. Will be car less for a few months so happy to be ferried around and be on camera duties, volunteer at track days etc.

well we could do something similar, wouldnt be as epic i guess but along those lines with a few members and their cameras running around. We have till september right? I was surpised how good it looked just having someone standing next to/getting out of their ride with the right expression (of earnest yet deadly seriousness) and the right backing music. Would be interesting to do the same with a bunch of our more prominent members.. oh and im confused why so many of my utube links just dont seem to hotlink, i put them in the 'insert media' thing, i dont put the url in it..same result

yeah but what times do u go through there matt? these drives are at midnight etc. did see one down there last time that late but they sure do have a lot of ground to cover, your right though, big risk to be the first guy in the convoy booting it along.. im always on or near the limit
-
i never block them out and no i dont know why? insurance? ur not on a race track so i dont get it.

LOL oookaaay so there was a lot of build up and not much of a pay off other than some drifting clips and some nice car porn, i still thought the production values were almost at the level of arthouse cinema and even better than some mainstream movies (as mentioned) now if only these guys could get a script together and make something that truly reflected the car scene in all its glory and without all the hubris, silly physics and corny lines of the FnF movies. I have watched a lot of knock offs of those movies too nothing comes close to the Furious series yet except this 5 minute clip. Again its begging for a story and some dialogue.

Anyone Know Where To Rent A 370Z For A Day?
hamiltonau replied to dont_ask's topic in New South Wales
i wouldnt want to rent from a place that had a website that barely works anyway...probably sportscar rental scammers like the ones that shafted me in Melbourne (erroneous claims of damage to tyres on a Boxter S etc) The sydney sportscarworld place is ok, used them heaps till i got my skyline. At least when they were on William st, now in Balmain and not heard much. They did get raided by cops while i was dropping off a car once, nothing big, just something about using customers details to get out of camera fines..so yeah no biggie. Good luck! -
i can do fri or saturday as far as i can remember lol i gotta keep remembering to check this thread! 6pm is a little early for dinner but a good idea to have as a start time as everyone will turn up an hour later anyway, like me. SO i should be there 7ish, keep you posted. i live 3mins drive from Chinatown so yeah, love the idea of meeting there!
