I was just wondering what sort of mat you guys use for the boot? I've been using the cut away rubber mats from Clarks rubber or Super Cheap Auto. I must admit I give the boot area a bit of thrashing carting stuff around a lot but these rubber mats seem to degrade fairly easily. How do people find carpet ones for dirt and grime?

For Melbourne South East area: I've found Rob at Sabbadin Auto to be quite honest, competent and helpful. http://www.sabbadinautomotive.com.au/garage.php They've got a dyno there and do some fabrications of exhausts and stuff. I think he specialises in rotary engines and turbo builds. He's really good at chasing down info and parts which comes in handy when you come up against a less than straight forward problem.

I was looking at the Jap Auction sheets earlier this year and the few manuals that pop up are going for quite a lot or being passed in unsold as the owners are expecting a fair bit for them. Obviously things change but from memory not much was being sold for under 1,300,000 yen. Geoff from Prestige Motorsport offers free trial membership where all of the Stageas going to auction are emailed to you each day and you can log in the next day and check their sale prices. At current prices I'm not sure Ben from Northshore will buy too many manuals on speculation but if you were serious you might be able to have him source you one. Or just wait and they'll drop down in price over time and then I'm sure they'll start appearing here.

Did you just put in the head unit or did you do speakers, amp, sub etc as well?

OK Is there a common work-around or fix for the radio in the integrated unit?

I've noticed that a lot (possibly all?) M35's have the stereo controls moulded into the centre console set up as opposed to the old swappable DIN system. I'm assuming the radio frequency range still cuts out too low on the FM band like other imports. What are the options for replacing the stereo? What do most people do?

Thanks for the info. So if I end up with a Series I or II then the turbo may still be an issue (as per any any other parts of the car) but it is less likely as the boost has been running lower over it's life time (provided the owner hasn't increased it).

The import duty drops from 10% to 5% in 2010 that might equate to about a $1-$2K saving on a $30K+ car. So it'd be worth holding back until that saving takes effect. Though this may mean your car is worth less as well...

Do you have any sort of Road Worthy Cert system over there? The reason I'm asking is I'm in Melb and anything that I get has to get a RWC (And I'm thinking if it passes the SA version it should pass the Vic).

I've read quite a few posts about the limited life of the stock turbo. I was just wondering if this is specific to the M35 or not?

Please excuse me if this has been posted elsewhere but I couldn't see it. I was talking with Northshore Prestige yesterday and they said they've now got approval for compliance of the VQ35DE engine (and that they were the first and only at the moment). Evidently there's a 2006 Stagea that should be available in a couple of weeks (it's been to the Ford factory in Geelong for testing) and quite a few more on the way. He seemed to think it'd be priced at about $28-$29K.
