  1. It's all in the regulations page 2 and 3.

Basically there are 3 rounds per day - 2 x 15 minute sessions make up a round. Your fastest lap for the round determines the points you get for the round. Points are awarded up to the 10th fastest time in each round. The system is set up to reward consistently quick performance, go too hard set a cracker of a time and bin it or break it and you wont do well, likewise you can't be particularly slow but super consistent if you want to be up the pointy end of the field.

So if you went out for 3 warm up laps and broke the car and your best time wasnt one of the fastest 10 for that round then 0 points makes sense.

Edit: If theres an issue there let me know and I'll look into it for you.

  2. Anything with corners, dirt rally would be top of the shelf, then tarmac rally and then hill climbs.

As the other poster said its likely that many forms would require a full cams spec cage and fixed seats - especially anything door to door so would rule out your road legal 34.

If you are looking to rally especially its probably better to get a second dedicated track car, that way if you bend it you dont wreck/disable your road car. Theres a few more hazards there than on a racetrack so your odds of a stack go up.

Oh and its probably cheapest to buy a car already set up even if it needs a little work. my105.com is a good place to start looking

  3. Because it is being run as a super sprint (timing) / track day RENUW have used SOME rules from a standard type of super sprint reg sort of ? ! .

SAU track days will be back to normal after this little comp, and will be more focused on driver training and taking a mate for a spin, as pointed out there are lots of clubs to do sprints and/or door to door style of racing, SAU is more about having fun in a low risk enviroment with mates where you can go as fast as you like (as long as your speed matches your ability).

Still for a small outlay you can have piece of mind that if your car, someone elses car or if your mates hair catches on fire you can put it / him / her out and save your s hit from burning to the ground.

    $20 could save so much.

I have 1.5kg in the car, .900kg in the kitchen, 2kg in the garage, you may say overkill, I say my sh it wont burn down.

Texi requires a fire extinguisher too and is done at much slower speeds. I'll be there as a renew entrant.

  4. maybe but im happy to pay the price. The turbo 6 did it so easily, i would think the NA would struggle a little more. Even if not then you're stuck with an NA thats not as fun when you arent towing.

  5. managed 14.7ltrs per 100klms in the falcon G6e turbo over the 2200klms trip down to Phillip island with a detour through Melbourne city and driving around town. This was with a full tank of gas in the car being towed as well as full set of spares (basically the car was full) and 3 blokes in the falcon with luggage and my big tool box.

Was using 91oct fuel for half the trip then realised i could get better fuel econ on the 95 so switched on the way back. Towed at the speed limit very well and could easily overtake when needed although we took it easy.

+1 for the falcons. After reading this thread i was a bit worried about towing my rx7 with my BF xr6t to Wakefield but it did it beautifully.

  6. I don't think the issue is the numbers any more Duncan, I think it has more to do with getting it through the planning approval stage as the usual NIMBY attitude still prevails, even out in the sticks.

Look at all the issues Gary is having with residents around MDTC and that is well and truly in the middle of nowhere with very few residents even near the track. He at least managed to get it off the ground but for how long?

    +1

There has been talk about a track at a couple of places up north including Wyong on the Central Coast. Last I heard they have trouble with approval because no-one wants it near them. A few people whinge and thats it, bad luck no track.

  7. B.S. What goes on in the forum, laps the world for eternity.

It can destroy the good name of a business or person, whether fairly, or unfairly, and can leave Forum Owners open to be sued for defamation and damages.

If anyone needs proof of how far a forum war can go google powerchip..

  8. Id be getting their reason in writing and then calling Nissan Australia head office - you've spent a lot of money with them and thats the sort of customer they wouldnt want to lose (logic being if you can afford a GTR you can probably afford to buy your mrs a new nissan whatever every few years, etc..) so ask them to look after you. Worst case they say no and you are no worse off.

  9. gts4 - the reason they were on the track at the same time was because it was an untimed driver training session with passengers allowed. There were speed groups for the timed sessions. No-one was getting laptimes except the ones with in car devices. Most drivers handled themselves appropriately and werent going 10/10ths.

Passing on the corners wasn't allowed and numbers on the track at once were within normal conditions for any wakefield day I've heard of.

  10. As for the fire in the 300Z there was a fire ball that came from the left side just after impact but a lot of coolant made some steam after the car came to a stop but could not see any other flames after the car stopped.

the fire only stopped after duncan and myself put it out before the fire truck arrived.

  11. and him not going fast enough on pit entry is a cop out, as we all know there are speed limits with in the pit area and it doesnt take a metre to go from full speed to 40-60km/h

The exit lane is pretty narrow and a reasonably tight turn. Not sure how fast everyone exited but i reckon 40-60 is what i was doing at that point too.

Still not even a thanks for us putting out the fire in the 300, would have been much worse if we didnt.

  12. yeah i realise this i was just sh1t stirring the fact there fastest club member was a piston powered car considering its a rotory forum? :nyaanyaa:

1, evo 2, gtr 3, gtr 4, rx7 5, rx7, yeah i'm gonna say the gtrs have it over the rx7s this round.

as for the car classes, i would be interested to see how the classes are set and why my full street R34 GTR is in the same class as duncans race R32 GTR? if F means not involved then someone needs to change my class as i have said right from the start i wanted to put of the comp,

Relax dude it'll be sweet. We will manually assign the classes and match them up with round times and announce the points. If I need to I'll contact individual owners to see where exactly their car fits if there is any doubt. I'm not sure what happened with the timing people assigning class but we'll try to get it sorted for next time.

  13. Buy it, it's always worth it.

IMHO they did not win, apart from the obvious, a rotary was not placed first, and I have no idea about the final official point standing. However during interclub competitions (at the club level, ie SAU or RENEWE only) a scoring method similar to below is often used.

Based on the best times of everybody, last place gets 1 point, 2nd last gets 2 points, 3rd last gets 3 points etc.

    RENEW = 390 points

    SAUNSW = 645 points

I'm a management accountant, just tell me what you want the numbers to say and I'll make them say it :P

The numbers arent quite like that but I'm sure SAU took club bragging rights for the day. The turnout of skylines was stronger than the rotor turn out and we gave a few extra spots to SAU. I think next time will have a better balance though.

edit: when i get the figures i'll try to put together and overall point score for each club and one with just skylines and rotors just for interests sake.

  14. F stands for f**ked if I know. I was in that one. I can see Street, Club and Open in the rules: http://www.island.ne...nal%20draft.doc

Congrats on your time today, you were damn quick and I wish I could catch you lol

I'll have to chase up what the go with the F is. It looks like putting the points together is going to be a manual process and I believe we have a spreadsheet with each of the entrants and what class they were in. I'll try to get that sorted out in the next few days.

  15. So you think Renew would knock it back due to its fast lap time or the type of vehicle it is? Because if its due to the type of vehicle it is than mine shouldnt be allowed to enter either (they might look different, my car vs neils, but they are constructed the same - fibreglass body sitting on a tube chassis powered by motorbike engines).

I'm not saying they would or wouldn't i'm just saying it would be wise to check first to avoid issues on the day. The vehicle type would be the big issue for me - it's very low and open topped vehicle unlike yours and I wouldn't like to see what would happen if a full sized car like a gtr had a run in with one. The speed and dynamics of it add another dimension to the safety question.

I suggested my old boss who races a minetti in the same class as radicals and wests to a track day and the concerns I'm mentioning now are the sort of things that came up in the discussion. The club hosting the day and its executives can be liable if something goes badly wrong and they did the wrong thing, given that I'd say it needs to be discussed first.

  16. No issues entering the radical, it's just a regular trackday. It will just be in Class C like mine.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but your car is lapping in the middle of the time range of the entrants we had (give or take a second or two). A radical should be much faster and will probably out handle the other cars in the fast group but not have as much straight line speed. Inter forum smack talking aside if Neil really wants to enter that he'll need to clear it with Don since this next day is hosted by renew.

  17. Duncan will have to drive his street registed GTR down there for the next one,,,my trailer will have an SAU "big gun" inside. We can't have Renew winning can we.

    Cheers

    Neil.

Continuing from the last thread - if you mean your radical then that doesnt exactly count for the competition does it? If you're serious you better speak to Don (i can give you his email) before entering to see if it will be allowed on the track with normal cars. There could be safety concerns involved.

The cars I'm talking about are FDs but it's just what I hear for now and who knows what will hapen in 2 months.

I've got some pics to sort through and I'll out some of the better ones up later

  18. yeah that was me, good to meet you :P perhaps in different circumstances next time :D

the 300zx was not being driver by the owner, or Dan, and apparently had a braking issue (like others don't see how you could get it so wrong any other way, so it makes sense). Hell of an unlucky incident, if Eric and Reece had not have been there he would have absolutely drilled the wall....the accident took place 10m+ off the race track on the pit entry road.

Other than that, I hope everyone had a good day out. The renew boys took out the overall win with a 1.04.986 in an rotary powered evo 9 :P Very quick time for any tin top, well done.

Brad yes I do think the track is a little quicker, they have tidied up the top of the hill and rebuilt ripple strips at 3, 5, 11 which is all good :D

Yep we'll claim the winner. The rotarys did alright all things considered. After switching to better semis later in the day mal's FD dropped a few seconds off his PB, he's only going to get faster next time too. Word on the street is some of the big guns are showing up to the next event.

And most importantly my apex seals are still where they should be
