  1. 17 on 60k a year? Man, I would have -killed- for that when I was your age... 6 years ago... When I was 17, I started my Apprenticeship on $6.20 an hour and we weren't allowed overtime. I lived through it, man. Now I've got a fiance, live with her in our own unit, have an RMZ250, R33 GTS-T, two trades... Used to have an SS Commodore (But it, uh... Stopped working all of a sudden... I found a piston on the other side of the road though)... I'm not boasting what I have but I'm just trying to tell you... Get an apprenticeship, work your ass off, bide your time and in the end it all pays itself off with interest. I work in town at the moment, but I'm heading back out west 'Over the Hill'. Town pays well for Tradesman. It's worth looking into.
  2. I'm a Tradesman Sheetmetal Fabricator and Boilermaker... It's worth doing an Apprenticeship, dude. I'm never on any less than $30.00 an hour now. But there are other options too, I guess. Most of Callan and my mates are apprentices, tradesmen or general labourers.
  3. Is anyone up for a meet and greet, chill and cruise tomorrow night?
  4. Hey guys, just hoping that everyone who lives down there and effected by the water are okay and hope that they didn't lose anything of value. From the Mackay SAU boys.
  5. Give me a call when you do yours, Cal and I'll head over to your place with mine and see if that works... Slack to fork out $250 if it just needs new solder. I demand a rematch on GT5... I regeared the shit out of my R33 GTR. I want my redemption!
  6. Hahaha. Nah, not yet. Gotta pull the cash out of somewhere to get genuine parts. I'm keen to go for a roll sometime this week. Give me a yell when you've got some spare time.
  7. Well then ,get out there with a hair dryer and start helping it dry out quicker, Cal... Haha. I'm keen for a Mackay cruise sometime soon... A decent one, haha.
  8. Man, this car is going to scream down Palmyra once her heart is cranked over... You boys have done an awesome job, man. The quality is insane! It makes me proud to live in Mackay knowing this car is here, haha. And it takes something special to like this town. Good work, boys. I'll make sure I'm at the drags the night it's brought to life... Gonna beat Dave's 9 seconds for sure. RB power!
  9. Hells yeah, that would be awesome. I've seen you car around a few times... It's visual Porn. You've got a great car, lad. When Palmyra is dried up (In the next few weeks? Haha) give us a yell on here if you're going to the TnT and I'll make sure I'll be down to watch you.
  10. Hey, I'm a Mackay boy too... How's the weather? Haha... -Sigh-
  11. I did my apprenticeship as a Sheetmetal Fabricator, mainly on stainless steel and aluminum shit... Only reason I chased after the Boilermakers ticket was to make it easier to get a job in the coal mines. I prefer TIG over MIG anyday though... In all honesty, fabricating and repair work is better than 'gouge, grind, weld' all day, haha.
  12. Money isn't a problem for me at all. The Fiance and I have an agreement that we're not getting married until my car is done... So she is helping me out as much as she can too, haha. Thanks guys, this means a lot. I'll make sure I keep updating when I start working on it. Keep you guys in-check with the progress.
  13. I'm not worried about budget... I refuse to go E-Bay spec. I want to buy a recon-25 and do all the work on it in the shed while I drive the car around still.
  14. The plan is to have a nice cruiser that I can go to the track and thrash around without worrying a lot about something major to go faulty. That's why I want to strengthen as much as I can. I plan on working the heads and having stronger valves and springs too. 35/40 just seemed to be a good choice for the track/strip but I'm open for suggestions.
  15. At the moment the only things the ol'girl has is a 3 inch exhaust from the cat-back, boost 'T', coilovers and mags... I only put the coilovers and mags on it. I'm buying a seperate engine and everything I need in the next few months. I just want a safe-going, gutsy engine. Thanks for the information, Aberax. Is there anything specific I need to do to make it all work out, crank wise?
  16. Oh, so you guys work in the Women's Clothing department? Hahaha. "Deez'll fit her" =P
  17. Hey guys, Well, I've decided that this year I'm going to stop 'talking' about doing something to my R33 and actually 'do' something to it... So first is first, the engine. I've been told, but I'm not 100% positive that it would work... The plan so far is... 40 thou oversized pistons 'H' Beam rods R33 RB26 crankshaft JUN oil pump New Water pump Bigger oil sump Garrett GT35/40 Front-Facing plenium Bigger throttle body Headwork to suit with decent size cams. That's the basics so far... I've been told and read that this plan should work, however I've also been told and read online that the RB26 crank doesn't fit. Any help would be awesome. I'm not after Horsepower Hero status, I just want a gutsy road car I can have fun on the track with. Thanks.
  18. I'm a Sheetmetal Fabricator Tradesman and a Boilermaker as well... And one of my best mates is a Fitter and Turner/Machinist. He's got a Skyline too, haha.
  19. I friggin' love this car... Saw it parked in at IML a few months back when I was doing my CS Induction... Just pure sexiness and awesomeness... I wish mine looked as half as good as yours does.
  20. Hey guys, I own a '93 R33 GTS-T Skyline and have decided that this year I'm actually going to do something to it instead of just talk about it, haha... But what I want to do, I've only heard that it's possible... And I'm not 100% if it would... So if you guys know if it's possible and what I would need to do to make it work, feel free to throw in your knowledge please. So here we go... 40' thou oversized pistons, H beam rods, RB26DETT crankshaft... That's the basics at the moment... Turbo is still unchosen and headwork will be done to what is needed. I've heard that this combination will stroke the RB25 to an RB26 or an RB27, but I doubt it personally. I'm not after massive horsepower, I want a decent street car I can thrash at the track and come home afterwards. Like I said, feel free to throw your opinions at me. More help I get, the more knowledge I attain, the better I can make the car.
