  3. hey fellas, just had my car serviced / fluids changed and a new clutch put in.. previously on the oil temp guage the thing sat barely above the 70 line.. however last night i was driving it for about 15-20 minutes, without revving it over 4000rpm, but was driving it fairly quickly (well as quick as you can without revving it out anyway).. and after the drive i noticed the oil temp had gone to 1/4 where i've never seen it before.. i have no idea how accurate that gauge is, but i'm more concerned that it's now got to a higher level than i've seen it before.. the oil was changed with the same stuff as it was running before (motul 300v 15w50) any ideas?? or am i just being paranoid

  5. yea man commo's get hassled as well if they're slammed and loud.. most of the time its more how they see you drive the car.. and if they think you look like a dickhead i guess haha
  6. funnily enough, a few years back i wrote-off my commodore that was pretty modified (inc. aftermarket supercharger, about the size of your head); all modifications were declared to the insurance co. however at no point did i get a mod plate or engineer's cert as this would've cost me a few hundred bucks and i figured if i ever got yellowed then i would pay up and get it legal at that point.. however i pranged the thing before it ever got legal, the car among other things was wayy too low (~60mm clearance) and insurance co coughed up no worries.. they didn't even realise it was blown!?
  7. just a quick question.. is running ~15psi on stocko 32 GTR turbos asking for trouble? or is that a safe-ish limit?
  8. the plates KOMPRESSR are hanging in my dad's bar... he's willing to get rid of them as he's got a E350 now, make an offer if you pick up a blown CLK
  9. hahaha i know most of you guys are hard out jap fans.. but really.. a celsior and a newish clk are pretty different also there's a longer service interval on the benz's.. you're really only looking at 1 a year, i'm very sure the last couple my dad has had only need servicing every 15-20 thou.. and since you're not flogging the shit out of them like you would a skyline, etc you're not really up for breaking drivetrain parts downside is that they won't rip a doughie.. ive tried
  10. hey mate what exactly do you want to know? my dad had a 2005 CLK he purchased new, and had it for <24 months... aside from the 60-odd % depreciation, i think the only issue he had with it was one of his keys died.. the best thing about that car was that the seatbelt was sorta 'handed' to you by this extender arm thing that automatically popped forward and then retracted having said that, a couple of his previous ones have had issues whilst under warranty.. i recall his old E class (2 generations old now) needed an entire diff centre replaced.. and they sent the f**ker from germany! imagine the cost of that if it wasn't under warranty also keep in mind small stuff can break as well.. he's also had an outside temperature sensor (that little black thing on the dash) which was reading a few degrees out.. for a car like a commodore it's probably only $20 but i bet from westpoint star spare parts it'd be $320

  13. sorry i'm not really helping you out here.. but it's of similar topic i just noticed on my rego renewal paper, it states under "conditions" that the car is an imported vehicle and does NOT have to comply with australian design rules, and does not require a compliance plate... it's a bit weird..

  17. hey fellas, just wondering if it's worth the effort and time to attempt to polish up a stocko gtr cooler so it's bare alloy instead of the black? ..and really there'd be no way to get the paint off the face of the fins anyway would there? just wanted to ask the question, as i'm considering dropping ~1k on a pwr one, and really it's for the aesthetic of a nice shiney cooler rather than any performance gain as i know the stocko ones are pretty decent any input would be appreciated!
