  1. At the end of the day you really need to judge it on application basis It's all fine and dandy to talk about either going turbo or blower on a RB/CA/SR/1-2JZ or something similar; where there are cheap, ready turbo manifolds and entire setups are availalble (OEM no less!), but consider an efi motor which didn't come out turbo from the factory.. what a massive headfark and much larger expense to get turbos on it.. The other thing is legalities, or perception of legalities. Pop the bonnet of a 5L Commodore with a dirty big single turbo setup.. a cop doesn't know what he's looking at, but knows that all this pipe work and this thing that you've have to 'massage' the strut tower to fit is certainly not legal. I drove around for at least 2 years with an unpermitted blower, was pulled over a heap of times.. even had a cop shine his torch around my engine bay and literally failed to notice a blower roughly the size of his head hanging off the throttle body. Having said that no one ever said anything when i was driving through RBT stops and this thing was whizzing it's head off at idle.. Maybe I've gone too far in one direction here.. that's mainly for N/A to forced air setups.. There's no way I'd remove a factory turbo setup to go a blower, that's a reverse headfark that's unnecessary as well.. it would be a crazy thing to buy a XR6T and remove the GT35/40 only to replace it with a Whipple, and that's a 4L motor.. I think in a video game world where effort for work was nil and everything was instant and easy, then you'd go turbos every time.. otherwise there's definitely grey areas
  2. 2 gtrs.. good effort man what's the blue colour called? i saw a 32 gtr the same colour the other day, looks really good
  3. i used to have a commodore with a decent sized centrifugal blower hanging off it.. was fun but a roots style blower would've probably been better if it was available at the time - made decent power, but in reality more 'laggy' (lack of a better word.. maybe 'peaky' is better description) than my gtr (which in my opinion is quite peaky in it's power delivery, although i'm used to V8s) - sounded fkn HEAPS better at idle + at redline than my gtr does.. a blower whizzing away at idle at the lights is probably the most awesome thing going.. - the motor it was on was very torquey so really the blower only helped past 3k -- definitely not suitable for a RB26, would be painful to drive it like that - it was actually really good for traffic light battles.. would often seem to beat cars with supposedly more power?.. although it was backed by a histalled/shift kitted auto, and 27% lower diff ratio may have something to do with it's consistency.. - getting it up on the stall and planting it would create smoke and spray rubber all over the place haha - im not sure if you really want a blower to be doing 8500rpm + 20psi? would have to be a fairly big one, and while the power band would be a larger than a big single turbo or big twins, i'm sure you'd make less overall.. skids would be a bit easier though haha having said that.. im very happy with my twin turbos
  4. that actually looks pretty cool
  5. ive had my cooler re-done and from the seat of the pants theres been no difference in performance
  6. i honestly cant remember it was years ago.. it was in an auto commodore, so definitely wasn't my clutch
  7. happy to stand corrected.. i did it about 18 months ago i guess they must've worked it out
  8. change the plugs clean your maf before you jump in and buy another one, i bought some maf cleaner spray stuff from repco for about 20 bucks
  9. my point was that if you're in limbo between losing the last points on your licence and receiving some points back you can use the system to your advantage
  10. 28 days on the initial pay up or goto court sheet, then 28 days late notice, still police dept, then (random amount of time to get to fine enforcement; at this point you are deemed guilty of the offense and the demerits if any are deducted) 28 days from the fine enforcement dept, then 28 days late notice sheet, then suspended licence. keep this in mind if you only have a couple points left and you're due for some back in the next 12 months -- you can use the late notices to your advantage, i've once delayed points being deducted off my licence for 14 months... then i handed in my licence and left the country haha if you elect to take it to court it will take 2-8months for the court date to come through (recently they gave me a october 2010 court date for a november 2009 offense)... and since you are not yet guilty no points will be deducted.. and even once the court date comes in, you can just tick the box to plead guilty.. and the points aren't deducted until the magistrate signs off on it. of course you'll have to pay court costs (~$115 extra) but it's a small price to pay if it's between that and no licence
  11. mines gtr is an factory car that they've modded.. v8 supercars don't share anything with the holden or ford road cars.. some of you guys are retarded
  12. hahaha yea i did for a month ...probably needed a sticker, front springs were chopped to shit tristan @ wtf auto owns it now funnily enough
  13. man those volks look good on your car dtsnr32 the purple 4 door looks bullshit!
  14. it actually doesn't piss me off if they're doing it to all cars, especially old shitboxes.. nothing gives me the shits more than them targetting cars people take pride in but letting the bunkiest piles of shit go happily on their way
  15. hopefully thats all it is and you both end up with some relatively cheap power back when it happened to me i was fairly confused why i was missing power.. until i lost all boost.. luckily for me CAPA rebuilt my blower under warranty haha
  16. yea they will (pretty sure every insurance co will).. just cars will refund the remainder minus ~$25 admin fee
  17. the internals of my blower destroyed themselves back in the day in my commodore when i had a collapsed cat.. i suppose that doesn't help you the thing that led me to look towards the cat was when it was dead cold and i started teh car i heard a ticking sound from the cat itself an exhaust shop will tell you in about 10 seconds
  18. i got a high flow and it apparently pops flames and youd be pretty unlucky to actually get done by a cop for a gutted cat
  19. might as well add mine.. you can see my old vs hsv manta 5.0 in the background.. sad to see that go last week on the stockies front plates are for suckas
  20. my gtr did the same as what you are describing and the afm's needed a re-solder
  21. just to pull up an old thread.. just wondering how these are usually installed?? considering getting one, either satin black or carbon but don't want holes in my bonnet..
