It's pretty much a fantasy game... cars can't follow eachother in f1. Also kimi did pretty well in mclaren when they were cairly ragged cars to drive, compared to the composed renaults. Maybe the flying finn could bring some progress to the flailing williams team...

Are you hoping because the vid doesn't work for you either?
  5. Just make sure you get a mechanic that specialises, or at least knows skylines. There's a few recommended in the sydney area if you have a quick search of the nsw section. Just remember, all mechanics will say they can do it
  6. Damn that sucks mate, I'm sorry to hear it. There are so many mechanic horror stories on these forums, hopefully this will be your only big one and at least it's not on your dream car. Definitely get in touch with the department of fair trading and also it's probably worth calling legalaid (? whatever it's called), or one of the other free legal advice services. It's good to get all the info you can before making a decision on what to do. I've called both services for advice a couple of times, once for a mechanic that stuffed up a clutch change on an r34 gtt, and once for a guy who was selling a car and tried to rip me off (both times a tense compromise was reached, but it was good to know where I stood if I needed to take it further).
  7. Does that mean the private areas are even less censored? The saunsw whoretown thread must be interesting then
  8. Sounds like a risky buy, esp for a daily: no rego, new engine etc...
  9. Take the kms pretty loosely, many many imports have had their kms modified, and there are sydney dealers who have been anecdotally known to do it.
  10. Give him a call, if he is non-compliant with your wishes threaten to gearbox him, he'll know what it means

Yeah, I made the mistake of looking on youtube before I knew how bad it was. Horrifying, and his poor family has to live with those images.

Marco Simoncelli died after his viscious crash in sepang. One of the worst I've ever seen, and that includes gilles villeneuve and tom pryce. That's two deaths in major motorsport in a week.
  13. There will be some sort of exemption policy for people who need to work, that article posted earlier even made vague reference to it... can't imagine it being free though
  14. 16% of drivers, all inexperienced, causing %25 of accidents is a fairly predictable statistic. Guess what, learner drivers cause a few more accidents! I'd have expected that number to be much bigger if they're going to use it as a basis for rule changes. The problems is it's too easy to get a licence; young drivers suddenly go from driving carefully with parents to being able to hoon; peer pressure from friends or wanting to show off is an incentive to speed. A lot of that can be solved by more intensive driver training, look at the finland example earlier in that top gear episode.
  15. I agree with you Terry, but it's worth mentioning that a lot of cars, esp older ones with poor suspension etc, are more difficult to handle in emergencies or adverse weather at 110km/h then they are at 80 or 90. And though people should, the average moron doesn't seem to adapt their driving for bad shocks or wet patches. If everyone drove respectfully, responsibly and close to the speed limit everyone would get everywhere faster. Only people who are passionate about driving actually realise this though

Erm, yeah about that... I do honestly wish I was watching cars that could follow eachother and properly duel, rather than all this dirty air crap. I do watch every race with my dad who constantly refers to the older years before I started following lol

^I was just reading about that (good old wiki). More tidbits: they went with Peugeot instead, but after a year of poor performance changed to the mercedes engines. Interesting reading http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McLaren

Slightly surprising that merc comes in at 4th... Edit: Just remembered McLaren wasn't always mercedes powered.
  19. Fair enough. The more expensive oils probably don't need the additives anyway.
  20. Might be worth throwing in some nulon g90 (or g70, i can't remember which, one replaced the other) too, it's pretty good stuff.

The problem is the aero packages, not the cheap fixes. F1 would be more interesting given any new condition or rule or gadget, like having tyres last the whole race, that was briefly interesting lol. I think having two different tyres makes the racing great, it'd be better if people could take the gamble and one stop on the slower tyre, or 3-4 stop on the faster tyre, with both strategies finishing side by side. It'd fore more on track overtaking. But while dirty air is the main problem with close fighting, bandaid fixes are all the fia seems to want to do. I mean wasn't it only 2-3 years ago that you had to be 3 seconds a lap faster than the car in front to pass? That was ridiculous...

Hakkinen is known for one of the best overtaking moves of all time, and had to fight schumacher version 1 for both his titles. I wonder how coulthard feels commentating on schumacher, after he and schui had some pretty bitter times back then. Edit: Also, race needed rain.
