  1. Try and find proof of someone using one and getting all the OBD data to work with Torque.

Hundreds of people have tried hundreds of OBD devices (I tried a couple of different ones many years ago - none worked). If it were as easy as you say, EVERYONE would have one in their V35s.

That said, these HKS units do look good and are fairly recent maybe they will work?

But go ahead - buy all the bits, and if you can get it all to work I will applaud you and follow the exact same route :) Let us know how you go!

  2. I have NEVER heard of a V35 with this problem. Much more likely is that it is a fuse. Not sure where (or if) the switch is fused, but I assume it is, and it sounds more likely than a severed wire. When checking fuses, remember there is a fuse box behind the battery as well, not just in the footwell.

  3. Almost nothing OBD related works on V35s - even a mobile mechanic came out to diagnose some heating issues with my car and neither of his (fairly) professional OBD scanners would speak with my car at all. You can buy one of those Kogan ones and try it, but it is unlikely to work. However if it did work and you posted your results/findings on here you would be a hero :) - we would all grab one, I am sure.

  4. You need an installer to do it as far as I am aware. Each state of Aus had a guy that did it, and part of the process was him calling Russia/Estonia real time and them decoding a code that the car ECU output based on time and GPS coordinates - definitely did not seem to be something that you could do (or they would let you do) yourself. Things might have changed though.

  5. By far your best bet is to get a dual din trim/climate control then put a double din touchscreen stereo in that does TV and Satnav.

    If you have a series 1: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NISSAN-STAGEA-SKYLINE-V35-DOUBLE-DIN-CONSOLE-PANEL-INFINITI-G35-AUDIO-BLACK-/182402444732?hash=item2a78086dbc:g:B3EAAOSwo4pYY7pE

    Series 2: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NISSAN-SKYLINE-V35-DOUBLE-DIN-CONSOLE-PANEL-INFINITI-G35-2-DIN-2005-2007-/182412633001?hash=item2a78a3e3a9:g:eNwAAOSwUKxYb5tu

People have had the oem screen retrofitted to be touchscreen with Nav etc. but then you still have stereo do deal with. Pretty sure there are mobs about that do it, but don't expect any change out of $4k. Chris Rogers from Audio Express in Qld is the guy you want to speak to - he can fly down to you and do it, but there are almost certainly guys in Syd that can do it.

  6. A group buy for items of this size doesn't work - shipping is based on cubic weight, so unless you can slip the bars inside each other in the same box (and the seller is wiling to do this) then you won't save a cent on shipping. Plus, once you exceed $1,000 of item plus postage value you get hit with customs clearance (involving a customs agent), customs duty, fees and gst on top of all that. It is a VERY expensive exercise, so have your wallet ready.

  7. FYI to ship my Nismo style urethane bumper from the US cost $1,250! So to split the shipping cost I got them to slip 4 bars into each other in the one box for the same shipping fee. - hence why I have one left for sale (keeping one, sold 2, and one left). I did however then trigger the 'over $1k import' rule and had to pay customs clearance, duties and GST, which amounted to a lot! :(

  8. Almost nowhere in Australia that sells anything body-kit related for the V35, sadly. And the few that do .... well ask around for the quality of their goods.

BUT, I have a brand new Nismo style Urethane (= unbreakable, unlike fibreglass) front bar for sale - $1,000 if you are interested.

  9. Yes, the car market is beyond awful at the moment. There is a silver Type S with 98k on the clock for $18,500 that has been sitting around for ages, a white SP with 125k for $17,500 and a charcoal Type P with 99k for $18,900. Seems you are a tad above market price, but not far off - your kms are better though, obviously. Just hang out for the right price/buyer if you can wait, otherwise you have to drop your price. Sucks, but that is life. I am dreading selling my black V35, given the low prices of V36s :(

My advice also is to give yours a better (or professional) polish and take some better photos - your Carsales ad makes the paintwork look pretty rough to be honest - especially on the bonnet. Does it have Akebono brakes? A pic of them will help sell it too. And as much as I quite like the Hiros (I assume that is what those wheels are), if you have the stock wheels chuck them on and sell the Hiros separately - they add no value.
