Cool story, bro.
-
Just sell it and buy a turbo. Likely cheaper and a much better outcome.
-
Can you get a photo of the smoke?
Take the oil cap off and see if there is white residue under it. Likewize, take the radiator cap off and see if there is an oil sheen in the radiator.
It's sounds headgaskety to me. Actually it sounds very much like a blown turbo seal, but seeing as you don't have a turbo....

That sucks. It stands out which will hopefully work in your favor.

Interior looks more plush? Maybe I just watched the wrong Youtube clips, but it looks no better than an NM35 RS. The grey centre console actually reminded me of a Falcon design, but then Toyota aren't really renowned for nice interiors.
You do know compliance is available for the Crown wagon with a 1JZ, yes?
I read it this way first, went and googled them, then came back to comment similar to yours. I reread the OP and i think, in a slightly clumsy way, he was actually saying the Stag interior is nicer.

Car recovered. That makes me happy

I'm the first to say "if they really want it they will get it" and "insurance is the only assurance", but not all crims are as smart or equipped with tow trucks, and ultimately you're buying yourself time by installing such security measures. I know which car I'd rather target.
I'm not saying don't bother with alarms and immobilisers, what I'm saying is in the grand scheme of things they do f**k all. But you never know, you might get lucky.

I don't believe either of these attitudes. It will stop lots of thieves if done right. It wont stop 100% but it's better to have than not to have. How many post have you seen that went something like this?
"Hey guys, just to let you know some scum tried to steal my car last night, but my alarm/immobilser stopped them. If you're in the ********** area, watch out, they are out there."
I don't ever recall seeing one.
Now, how many have you seen that goes like this:
"Hey cars, car was stolen from my driveway/local shops/street last night. Had immobiliser and alarm but they got it anyway. If you see it, please call the cops."
I've seen dozens of those ones.

Arseholes. I will keep an eye out for you as I live around noble park area. Question for you. Did the car have a quality alarm system? Just trying to work out if the guys pinching our skylines are opportunistic scumbag thieves or pro scumbag thieves. Starting to worry about my own pos gtst which I regularly park at shopping centres which I thought was a pretty safe thing to do. Obviously not.
Alarms don't do shit if the thieves have the slightest clue. And at a guess anyone f**king off in something like a GTR know what they are doing. Insurance is the only defence.

Dude, that's f**ked. Sorry to hear it.
Hopefully it's recovered and the scum who took it die a horrible, nasty, painful death.
I fekin' hate thieves.

Just a little late on this one
Michael Mosely covers it off in his books. I don't have and sources handy.

How much for the whole thing?

I had my Pulsar tinted at Tint-a-car in North Melbourne. No complaints. Quick, fair priced, so far the job appears to be perfect.

If you can get the panels beaten into shape for $2,000.....there's problem A. A front cut for $750? From where? A decent set of headlights alone will set you back almost that much.
If the strut tower isn't moved, I'll be surprised. If the firewall isn't out of shape, I'll be surprised. If the front chassis rails aren't bent, I'll be surprised.
I hope for your sake I end up being very surprised, but if I were a betting man, I'd say you won't get away with fixing it for under $10k.

Called up chequered tuning and they said it would be no problem, so going for a tune with them. :-)
i was told the new injectors dont have filters though. Does anyone know where i can get some? (Dont know much about injectors)Very good plan
-
I've got 1000cc IDs....no issues on idle. I'm pretty sure there about about 1,000 others on here who'll tell you the same.
Keep the IDs, get a new tuner.

At this point in my life I certainly have accepted it. I'm torn now between a Stagea with seats or upgrading my wife into a newer car, so I can have her wagon...
Haha....I imagine you have
Whats her wagon, out of interest?
-
You're 6"6'. Nothing is going to fit well. I'd accept the fact that you either won't fit or need to find some aftermarket seats to make you fit.
-
At a guess it's the 2wd switch. Turn ignition on, flick it to OFF, start car, pump brake pedal 5 times. Does 4wd light come on?
-
That thing is f**ked.
Anything is fixable, but there ain't no way that's going to be worth it. It'd be cheaper to go buy a new car.
-
I'd hazard a guess that your plugs are now dirty. It's running hella rich when cold and the plugs are fouled.

Or he could sell a turbo and just buy it?
