  1. Just for clarity, these are KU31s. I'll take $180 firm for the pair pick up from SE Melb.
  2. For sale are a pair of Khumo Ecsta SPT tyres in 265/35/ZR18. These tyres were put on the car when I bought it for a RWC, then I replaced them with the originals so I'd think they'd not even travelled 100kms and they were on the fronts. Cost the owner $560.00 for the pair as per the receipt and as I rarely drive the car, i can't see me needing them for quite some time. Asking $250 for the two pick up only in the SE suburbs of Melbourne.
  3. UNR33L... Mine's on coilovers aswell and the front splitter and Cat are the two lowest points and both sit smack on 100mm from ground. So where I place the wheels on the road when it's measured, will decide on whether it's over or under, it's that close. But have no troubles with speed humps although the massive front overhang make driveways particularly entertaining. But it's not a daily so no problem. It also rubs very slightly on full lock but only when the ground is uneven and the corner is compressed. Otherwise nothing.
  4. Owgas... if you're still wondering how 18x10.5 +15 sit on a GTR, here is mine with those dimensions. Got nervous when it was on the jack cos they stuck out immensely, but once the car dropped and the wheels cambered in, they sat just as I was hoping.
  5. Spot on Peter, the stories hear of people having hastles with imports. My GTR is mildly worked and I couldn't drive it day to day, but i have to drive around the city a bit so multi level carparks are a pain. So she sits in the garage for the weekend blasts and the Goft GTi gets the daily chores. Have to say though, I love driving the Golf so... much, they're amazing, Misses has a Polo GTI and the GSXR is for the track. But when you have two cars, the drive in the GTR is an absolute event. The Howl, the pops and crackles, the insane punch out of corners..... Gee they're brilliant! So when it's being worked on, you don't have to rush to get it back together for the next day, and you don't have to leave it anywhere you don't want. My biggest problem is when I get a nice day, do i take the Bike or the GTR. Go for it if you can manage it comfortably. As much as I love it, I wouldn't put myself into debt to do it.
  6. I think it's brilliant that we all love whichever one we love. But when I was going through the same thing, all my real research with those having practical experience racing them and tuning them (not from googling) had suggested that the R33 was the more accomplished performance car with the faster smarts, more balanced chassis with slightly rear biased handling. The concensus also suggested that as a result of the improved chassis and higher rigidity, the suspension worked better. But I Love em all, and if I had the funds, i'd have one of each and a 6 car garage to house them.
  7. These guys are spot on. I have a MkV GTI as my daily and I'm one of the fussiest rasters when it comes to cars, always get sick of them after a year or so, but had my GTI for almost 4 years now and love every second I'm in it. And that's amazing for me. They're brilliant to the point that when 3 years came up, I went looking for a replacement and just couldn't bear to be in anything else. I even drove a number of E46 M3's as this was something I really wanted, and the Golf was just a much better all rounder. Was really dissapointed in the M3. Prices are coming down a bit now with Mk6 out, so not sure of your budget, but MKV is brilliant. I went looking at the new GTI and even the new R recently and cannot change it. And when I bought the GTI, I actually went to the dealer to pick up an R32 and ended up putting a deposit on the GTI, so that speaks of how good I think this thing is Still need the Fatboy in the garage for the weekend blasts though.
  8. I'm right there with ya Jezz... I went out looking at 34s in fact, cos I just thought it'd be nice to have a newer one, but driving it just felt exactly the same as the 33, and i just couldn't get used to the look of them, i can see the appeal but just too boxy for my liking. When I see any of the them on the road I love it, but when I'm behind a 33 looking at that fat arse...... whhooooo...... just love it, just looks so tough. And when they're sitting right, they just look fantastic.
  9. Mostly correct, Enkei RPF1 in 18x10.5 with 15 offset. The wheels are the only thing I've done to her since purchasing, apart from stripping the interior of all the Audio cables and making adjustments to everything so it's free of rattles. Oh made some small adjustments to the suspension also.
  10. Just Rb... found this by chance in Vic, almost gave up, figured I'd never find one that I'd be happy with. Was starting to look at 34s, but (and I must be the only one), I just couldn't get used to the look of them, just didn't look all of one piece to me, and I just love seeing fat 33 GTRs on the road. cs, CF wing is indeed aftermarket. I bought it with a mild tune and the bay looks stock standard although it has cam gears, GTSS turbos and a Power FC all good for about 300KW ATW. Hardly had to do anything to it. Just cleaned it up and put the wheels on it really.
  11. So I'm pretty new on here so thought I'd say Hi, have to say that I've been able to get some great info from here and some members have been extremely helpful. And more importantly gotta say, I'm pleased as punch to be back into a GTR. Have gone 6 years since selling my last one and just couldn't go without one any longer. Searched long and hard as it had to be a White S3 R33 and it had to be in sensational condition. Well found it, love it, and it sits in my garage for me to play with and look at. She's taken out for a blast through the mountains on the nice quiet Sundays and although I bought it to track, I almost feel it's too good to put it through that. But I will anyway. So the little GTI now has to live outside as the GTR takes the comfy spot beside the Gix in the garage.. So thought I'd share some pics since I found it so hard to find. They are around but not easy to find good ones I've discovered. Here are some pics
  12. I was in the same posi not too long ago, searched for ever and almost gave up as I couldn't find the GTR in the condition I wanted. I saw so many of them, by chance inspected one which was spectacular, better than any I'd seen, had over 150K on it. Tested perfectly, every garage I take it to tells me how good and solid this car is. So I'd say.......... go by the condition of the car absolutely. I had a GTR 6 years ago which had 76K on the dial, water pump died, alternator played up, thrust bearing got squeely and needed to be replaced. etc.. 76K..... right. Pleased as punch now. Tightest GTR I've driven.
  13. Cheers guys, I'm taking it that it doesn't happen the other way around (ie. rears moving slower) as some have suggested. I've put the same brand on the front and it's right, little bit in first at take off and does nothing from then on until it's howling... Incredibly sensitive system, as the difference between the two was less than 5mm!! And the effect was immense. Fantastic car. Bit like a fussy child who doesn't like wearing different coloured socks..... Thanks again.
  14. Well actually no blink_elk, this specific idea has not been addressed, everyone discusses how a difference in general will affect the system, however no one discusses the difference between which way it occurs... ie. front rotating faster or front rotating slower. But thanks for your response and if you're right, that's very interesting to me.
  15. Well not exactly, However, I've recently bought an R33 GTR, the thing is in brilliant condition however I noticed that the front torque gauge would register a split as soon as I moved, no matter how slow I was taking off. Didn't know why for some time, then realised that the tyre brands front to rear were different. I did a little measurement and found there to be a small difference in overall diameter from front to back. Now the rears actually measured smaller than the fronts by virtue of their makes so in effect, the computer is seeing that the rears are slipping as they are having to turn a little faster to travel the same distance. So I'm wondering if anyone here knows if the result would be the same if I put the fronts to the rear and vice-versa which would then have the rears turning slightly slower than the fronts. Would this still produce the same result of torque split? Does it work in this situation where the fronts and turning faster than the rear??? I'd love to know before actually changing them over. Ta.
  16. Well, cheers for all the info Doo Doo. Got to the part, was frightened as hell that the ball was going to drop into the box, didn't make sense that it would though. Came out, ball was jambed inside the cylinder, looked like the ball had worn a flat spot and that last time, it turned and the flat area helped jamb it in the assembly. So it came out together.. brilliant!! Replaced the ball with a new one and she's wonderfull again. Cheers for the help again.
  17. You idiots.... i got so excited and went outside with my all time fave empty cup all excited to place it in a snug little spot thinking great, I'll now be able to take corners at something beyond the walking speed of a bread stick without spilling my watermelon custard protein drink....... and an hour later, my hands are frozen, feet are numb, and worst of all, I've damaged my favorite left over McDonalds paper cup trying to fit it in every crevice which half resembled something remotely like a very vague looking cup holder.... Thought these threads were useful once........ hahaha... Seriously though, something wrong with 33's... ? They're all just fabulous. I had one 7 years ago for three years and sold it, then went through a bunch of cars and said I'd buy another one when I can keep it as a toy. Looked at all of them in detail, got close to the 34 but just couldn't get used to the shape. And 33's are just so FAT!! Makes them just look tough, especially from behind. But love em all.. so ended up with a series 3 33. And it just sits there, but when I drive up and open the garage door, the view of that fat behind staring at me as the garage door lifts is worth every cent. Don't even drive the thing. This isn't mine, but how can you not love this..... especially in White...
  18. haha.... thanks mate. Swear jar's already full and I haven't started yet. Great description and thanks so much for having a look. You're right, front shaft and slave will have to come out as a min. I have a mate with a workshop so I'll try to get it on the hoist as I can see me becoming very loud trying to do this when i can barely fit my face under the car. Thanks again, I'll let you know how I go.

  20. That's a great explanation thanks, I can picture it now with your description. So I can see now how if there was something caught where the ball would normally be pushed back into the assembly, it may have given me resistance. Then as I forced it out of gear (the ball into the assembly), it became jambed inside the assembly and now has no contact with the rod as the spring cannot push it back out on its own hence the gear selection feeling very loose. That's brilliant! I just went out and got under there and i just can't get to it easily with the car just on stands. Your pics were very helpful as you can't see it from below, but going by your pics, I know exactly where it is. But I can't get my arms at the right angle. i'm going to have to get the thing on a hoist I'm thinking. thanks again, if you have any tips on accessing this, throw 'em at me. thanks again.
  21. Cheers again buddy, It looks to me that the entire assembly retains the ball and spring, so if I take the entire assembly out and get the ball and spring moving again, it should be right, does that sound right? thanks again mate.
  22. That sounds right on the money! One minute it's perfect, and the next it's sloppy through all gears. Just wasn't sure how it works on these but there was no way it was gears. Thanks so much, I haven't even got in there but this is it, no question. You're a legend. I'll let you know when I get a chance to get in there. Cheers bud and thanks for the pics, that really helps.
  23. Looking for some tech advice from all you Sky boffs out there. I was heading home just now and the car has been absolutely fine, I arrived at a set of lights, shifted to second and before I stopped, depressed the clutch. Now, as I went to shift to Neutral, (clutch depressed, car stationary) it was very difficult to take out of gear. I took the clutch to friction point again and it was engaging normally so depressed it again and gave the stick a little tug until it popped out. All good I thought, however now, there is no resistance changing into any gear at all. And driving requires I hold it in gear as it will pop out from transition from on to off throttle. It does this in every gear now. All gears were fine before. So I'm thinking it can't be synchos or gears as it is suddenly on all gears. Does anyone know what the mechanism is like for the shifter linkage enabling it to lock into gear. Any help would be brilliant.
