Great work. Nice to see all the effort that goes into a project like this.

18x9.5 +12, You will not get this to fit decently without adjustable camber arms and hire a really good guard roller, Not just some kid with an ebay kit or ye good ol' 2" bar.
Anything can be mechanically reliable if you're mechanically sympathetic enough. Not to say this is more forte; I am not a kind person to anything with a motor. But I am hoping the financial investment will force me to show some self restraint.
*DAD 5!*Did you get yourself anything else yet?
Yeah, I ended up getting a ‘33 boat for simpler maintenance. Track days are still a stretch in a family situation. The motorkhana events are good value and more family friendly.

The sound tube only really added sound higher in the rev range, 4k up, but it sounded weird when everything was OEM, sort of like a small air leak....at your feet, sort of.....but once I did the exhaust, header back, the exhaust was all you could hear.
Now with the sound tube gone, and the new inlet installed with all the resonators removed, I can hear the induction coming from where it's meant to come from, the engine, not my feet.
The induction isn't overly loud though, it's still got the OEM airbox which knocks out some sound, but, it's a natural sound if you get what I mean.
Sounds really good IMO, especially from around 5k up to 7k, all that NA goodness screaming of its tits.
And you really need to keep it screaming off its tits though, under 5k rpm the engine doesn't have alot going for it.
Don't get me wrong, it's "nippy" down low, but it's not until 5k rpm that the engine wakes right up.
The exhaust and intake seemed to help, but the only thing that would help more under 5k rpm would be some boost.
A good tune might help a little, but a tune on its own, without some air being jammed in, wouldn't be good bang for your buck.
Hell, from some really rough calculations, for me to get something over 200 killerwasps, and still be reliable to beat on, it would cost upward of $20k to do it right.
A nice responsive setup running around 200kw would be real sweet though.
Unfortunately I didn't find $20k under the lounge when I last looked, if, and when I do.... you can bet that there will be some boost getting pumped in.
But I'm keeping it stock, so that's not likely to happen.....?
Ahh, so it sounds like it should. I’ve got an na8 mx5 with intake, headers and exhaust. Sounds like an angry bumble bee all the time. It’s fun for a while, but Shits me on long journeys. And yes, additional space would be nice. Lucky it’s just my backup car.

Loving this.
Is the engine note diminished with the sound tube removed?

I Share your sentiments on the kids thing. Income suffers! Wouldn’t change a thing either.
I sold my GTR to fund ‘life’ things.... so it’s great to see you hung on to the dream!
Love to see how you progress.

I saw some original Nissan/Datsun manuals at a second hand shop the other day while on holidays. There were heaps of them there. Let me know if you wanted details of the place.

Not sure if same, but pretty sure I've seen you at Winton some years back? I think it was only just converted to v8 back then...

Great to see this progress. Light at the end of the very long tunnel!

KIA Stinger - would you own one?
I'd own one....
While Kia says both engines are still under final development, it expects the four cylinder to produce 190kW at 6200rpm (up from 180kW in the Optima) and 353Nm between 1400-4000rpm while the V6 will generate 272kW at 6000rpm and 510Nm between 1300-4500rpm.

You won’t have mechanics the way we do now. Clutches? Brakes? Transmissions? Almost redundant.
Throw in autonimous driving and people won’t need to own cars when it becomes a subscription service. Maintenance will be done by major corporates down some back blocks.
