  1. The only GTR I have driven is mine. Which previously was stock with computer and cat back. So with out first hand experience it's a little hard to judge what I would like
  2. Everyone had previously recommended not to go with -5s on a 2.6.. Why do you recommend otherwise?
  3. Running a 3' with -9s, cams etc would be more responsive/higher torque then running with 3.5'? But the 3.5' would be a higher power figure.. Is this correct?
  4. I have ended up with the -9's and after fitting them and running a compression test I found out that I am now needing a rebuild.. Changing the pistons, rods, cams, injectors, oil pump, cam gears etc.. would it be 'restricting' this build with -9s?
  5. Are all the listed parts made of CF/FRP? I would be interested in a skirts/pods and CF Wing blade images for R34 GTR if it is possible to get some.

  7. Hi all, Recently I blew the stock turbo on my BNR34, it dumped all the oil out of the exhaust and intercooler. I drove the car home (around a 10min drive). Turbos were changed to -9s and when checking the engine it had barely any oil. Took it for a Dyno tune and had a compression test done, 1 and 3 didn't have the same compression as the others and was farting out of the exhaust. My tuner reckons the turbo blew some of the wheel into the engine. Just wanted a second opinion/has this happened to anyone? Cheers Harry
  8. Is there only one -9 from garrett that is an RB direct bolt on?
  9. Sorry guys, no edit button again for the above post. But after reading about the different sizes listed by garrett I went into the technical drawings and they look identical apart from the turbo outlet. Is the design of this the advantage of the -9s?   10. Thanks for the reply guys. I will be going for the -9s. I'm sure if I quote the model number and ask for the HKS GTSS equivalent I will be getting the right ones. -7s seem a bit out of a waste of time unless you're chasing a replacement
  11. Sorry guys, it wont let me edit the above post. After a few more hours of reading through threads on this forum I have come to the realisation that the -7s are GT2860-7 (707160-7) and the -9s are GT2859R-9 (707160-9). Going off the stats on the Garrett website, the -7 is a bigger turbo? In that case why is the -9 the one with the better performance and able to push more power easier? GT2860-7 (707160-7) COMPRESSOR Ind Whl Dia(mm) - 44.60 Exd Whl Dia(mm) - 60.10 Trim - 55 A/R - 0.42 TURBO Whl Dia(mm) - 53.90 Trim - 62 A/R - 0.64 GT2859R-9 (707160-9) COMPRESSOR Ind Whl Dia(mm) - 44.50 Exd Whl Dia(mm) - 59.40 Trim - 56 A/R - 0.42 TURBO Whl Dia(mm) -53.90 Trim - 62 A/R - 0.64 If anyone can clear this up for me that would be great, based on the read I have done -9 is the ones I want, but turns out they are actually smaller.. In which case -7 would have more potential?
  12. Wow, this got confusing. So I searched garrett official website to get the measurements of a GT2860-9 and it turns out the GT2860-7 that GCG apparently have are the same measurements as listed GT2860-9 on the garrett website.. I don't know how that works but numbers shouldn't lie.. Right? Edit: The gcg -7 are the following: Inductor- 47.2 Exductor- 60.1 That sounds like a -9 ?
  13. Sorry to be bumping this back up but it has been a very good read. I'm still confused.. Is there a GT2860-9? Or are they listed as a GT2859R-9?? I have been in contact with GCG and they were telling me that the -7 turbos are bigger and have a bigger inlet and will make me more power then the -9.. But this thread has told me other wise.. Please help lol

  15. I had mine tuned a while ago, but not being a gtr/tuned turbo car before having that I wasn't sure how it should've run I think the injectors run at 5-6ish % on the dash computer. Would -5 result in more lag then a -9? (I'm a little confused on the whole dash range). I got an excedy clutch, doesn't feal the best but its still quiet new

  18. Hi all, I was looking for a thread with this kind of info but didn't have any luck finding one, please point me in the direction I need to go if there is one. Basically I have a BNR34 GTR with a couple of blown turbos, so now I am searching the market to find me a new pair (upgraded) and know there are a whole bunch of brand and types out there, so I was hoping to get some advice or kind of pointed in the right direction of manufactures and models. Currently I have minor mods such as a Haltech ECU, Fujistbo catback, Fuel pump and boost controller and have been dynoed at around 260awkw. I know that the Garrett -5 turbos are a popular upgrade to the 34's and have the potential to be reaching figures around 350+awkw which is what I would be after. With upgrading turbos I was looking to upgrade the cams as well, along with the front/dump pipes and other parts since I don't want to be in and out of the mechanics a hundred times. So if possible could people please recommend to me some turbos and why they would choose them. Appreciate any help. Cheers.

  22. Hey all, just a little update.. Ended up with the DBA 4000 series rotors and Ferodo ds2500 pads on the front, will eventually get the same for the back, but really happy with the way its stopping
