  1. neons are perfectly legal unless they are mounting incorrectly. if the actual light can be seen from another car as opposed to just the "glow" then they are illegal.
  2. obviously theres not going to be a pits that will let everyone off with illegal stuff. any dual pillar mount is illegal. your bov is illegal if it vents to atmo. your pod needs to be secured properly. your neons must follow the guidelines (ie. mustnt be able to see the tubes at all). your exhaust cant be too loud. you should be able to get permits for everything except the pillar mount and exhaust. they dont do permits for exhausts anymore apparently. depends on the car, you and the inspector with what you can get away with.
  3. dont wanna seem like a party pooper but from what you described it wasnt actually a speed camera. its a number plate reader that (obviously) reads number plates and checks currency of rego, state of the owners licence etc automatically. they have them around my area (vic park) because there was a thing in the local about a guy being caught by one. they trialled them a while back and looked like a white light looking sort of thing on a tripod but have now changed them to sit on the front of cop cars. pretty good little things if you ask me...
  4. anyone know someone with a pig farm?
  5. does anyone have an account number? i want to transfer my entry fee before i miss out! on a serious note mine was from "Evianwater"
  6. i found a handbag behind my back fence and had a purse and stuff so went to drop it back to them. it was an old couple and they caught the aboriginal guy in their bedroom at 5.30am stealing it. same guy who knocked on their door a week earlier wanting lemons off their tree... he lived down the end of their street. the police wouldnt even take a statement from them. they lived round the corner from me. that was the house where my calais was broken into three times and the commodore over the road was left on bricks. his gf saw them (aboriginals, funny that) rolling the wheels down the path. of course there was no sign of them when the cops arrived 20 mins later. edit: this was in como
  7. in 5 years of driving and riding ive been caught once in the country doing 120 in a 110 zone. i really should grow up and change my attitude
  8. dont stress, he will get back to you eventually. prompt service is just not his strong point
  9. Supertec in bentley - scott and baz arent just good at what they do, they are also good blokes who want to help you out. if you are having trouble with something you can drop in for a quick chat about it. baz has come to my house after work to check out why my car wasnt starting... best bet is to drop in rather than call, they dont like to answer the phone
  10. its 2" larger than standard and i think 2" wider than standard up to 7" and no wider than 7" unless it came with wider standard in which case you cant have any wider. you can get engineers approval but its not really worth it coz the pits dont really care. i have engineers approval for mine coz i got it at the same time as a bunch of other stuff.
  11. and a bike cop no less...
  12. i am the guy mr psiko is talking about who has one. it makes no discernable difference with the mammoth muffler on there atm. i will take the muffler off and have a drive with it closed and see if its much quieter but at idle and revving the engine without the muffler is pretty loud even with it closed. cut a long story short, yes i have one but i dont know if it works
  13. forgot to say, you dont need to do the modification application if its within 25% but its a good idea coz you will know for sure. if you have approval from them the pits guys wont look twice at the conversion.
  14. yes, i have an rb25det in s13 that started life as a ca18det. i had to make an application to the tech section who told me i had to get engineers approval because it was over 25% increase in capacity. i did that (eventually) and got permits for it. another guy (smitler) did the same but started with rb20de, which even though it is less powerful than the ca18det is within the 25%. he didnt need an engineers approval. call up licensing and get put through to the tech section and they will mail you out a modification application. do that now coz they take at least 2 weeks to process it. you tell them what you want to do and they tell you if its cool and if not what you need to do to make it cool.
  15. nengun takes aaaaaages. both to reply and to get the stuff. not dodgy or anything but if you want the cheap prices i guess you have to be prepared to wait...
  16. its capacity only. other than that they dont care. you just have to make a modification application to the tech section and they will approve it and then the pits will give you a permit for it.
  17. spoilers have to satisfy certain parameters i think. engine changes are perfectly fine as long as they are within 25% of the original engine (rb20 -> rb25 is fine) but above that you needs engineers certification.
  18. theres three types of 3rd party - the compulsory that comes with rego which doesnt cover property, 3rd party property which is what you had for 170-200 a year which covers the other persons car in an accident and 3rd party fire and theft which is more expensive and covers the car if it is stolen but doesnt cover it if you prang it.
  19. depends on your policy
  20. the length of the wait for repairs and quality of repairs is not really the fault of the insurance. our car that was fixed with RAC took 2 months to fix and went back about 4 times. RAC were great about it but the panel beater was as dodgy as they come.
  21. are the people in this group buy still getting them? any idea when?
  22. drive 4000kms in a car you dont know from a bar of soap? no thanks...
  23. im a definite for R33, a mate will also be interested in an s13 one but let me check for sure.
  24. im so glad to see im not alone. i almost had an accident when a huntsman crawled out onto the sunvisor in front of my face. i swerved off the road into a driveway and jumped out. refused to go within 5 metres of the car until i could see the dead carcass. my mate thought it was hilarious until he realised i was serious and had to find it and kill it before we could go anywhere.
  25. did a search and couldnt find anything like this. ive got an rb25det in s13 with rb25det gbox. the gearbox is fairly buggered, crunching into second and a bit into third and fourth. i had it tuned on monday and it was running much better so i was giving it a fair bit more of a hiding than before and almost straight away i started getting a problem where if i rev it out in any gear and put the clutch in i get a nasty crunch. dont touch the gearstick at all it just crunches as the clutch goes in. can anyone give some idea of what the problem might be? other than this the clutch functions normally. it is a heavy duty 5 puck brass button. to help the gearbox ive got a harder gbox mount, engine damper and redline lwsp oil.
