  4. Hi guys Haven't been on for long time - Don't own any skylines ante more. Last was a R33. Still own mazda's but I've been watchign and helping out(moslty watching him put it togeather and clean up oil spots on the paint ) on my mates R31 Aus -skyline. SOI figured I'd add the video of it achiveing it's goal of a 10second pass. It ran full street trim- Nothing is removed everythign works and fitted - A/C to P/S stereo etc. Only the slicks and front runners. I've had people tell me it could be one of the quickest R31 registered they alos told me to post it here- I don't know. I somehow doubt it as we all know of cars people throw plates on and say it's daily driven with a roll bars and parachute but this is still street driven and registered and legal. hope you enjoy it I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place - so it moderators could move it to correct place if needed thank you.
  5. Just wondering if anyone here would know What is the quickest R31 Skyline in australia - street legal- or close too. Especially powered by a RB30ET. Reason is had reports from a member on here ages ago that iwas about 10.5 don't knwo the mile. but if so A associate is planning to run at least a low 10 so looking for something to AIM at Thanks
  6. Well I can say that after owning a R33 GTS-T ( even before most of you had one - try december 1999) that in stock form they ain't great. But yes should run down a stock Mx-6 ? But one thing to take note of is that unlike msot Skylines imported are Type M's Not all Mx-6 are the same a 2WS bottom range will beat a top range 4WS version. about 1 second over the 1/4 mile in performance due to weight and a definate 1 second with manual to auto gearbox. With a R32 - You no matter what gear beat one off the mark especially stalled up auto. Mine when it ran at the illigal runs Eat VN V8's for first 150meters. Stalled up rotor different story but still in most cases up front. I had a Cefrino with RB20 RWD auto and if had 157Kw at rear wheels straight from Japan. And it only caught up especially with stalled Mx-6 at 95km/h by 120 in was just nudging ahead. But to make your day die, the Mx-6 up against a Type R 1.8L eat it by 3 car lengths to 50 - by 100 1 by 120 Type R in front. Same type R same drive would never be behind the Cefrino or R32 stock GTS-T which a friend owned with 3inch. All over M5 - M4 every highway in sydney only over 160km/h woudl the nissan beahead. mind a 200SX that was runing was gone way before us but runing 18psi? Yeah it has alot to do with driver. But also Heaps on the state of tune. Only one R32 GTS-T I have seen at eastern Creek before WSID gone better then 14seconds. not runing slicks. And I know it had full bottom end up rebuild with HKS GT turbo on it I think a 28series but it pooled it launched but it also didn't move off boost. But revs are fun. Mx-6 are not super quick cars, but not all skylines are either. Friends 13seocnd flat V8 Monaro HQ has had every skyline owner go What does it run - Them all Saying I run 13's welll, He's go the papers in the box to prove it. And photo cover on Carguide section of Daily telegraph. Mx-6s dont' go top end and neither do some others like GSR lancers etc ( unless wild modes) but they are pains in the arse in trafic for top end powered engines. Torque is the Key to excelleration it's why a Sr20 is better then a Rb20 IMO
  7. Well it sounds normal Most turbo's i have messed with /80% internal wastegate use a little "olive" inside the pipe all turbo's form IHI to Garret I know of use this even SR20DET stockers have it. I have not foudn one in a RB turbo yet but it should have it. As long as your "olive" is in fornt of your Boost controller it should allow you too adjust it. with out it makes no effect.
  8. The thing I find funny I've tried top line tyres and cheaper (use more for bunrouts ) lower range tyres and find the Falkens and slighlty cheaper ones to be crap in the wet. Mind you I have to say, rear tyres don't last but my question why 80-0km/h in the wet test and not a 100-0km/h test. ?
  9. thanks Guys it really helps At the moment the R31 is turbos and is makeing lost of power about 300Hp at the rear wheels and bit. Mate thinking of going the full Job but and Brembo calipers as he's getting another bottom Rb30 end made up to take more power then it's current light state of tune After read a fair bit through your forums I didn't know the Jap model differed so much from the Aus built one's. Still love a GTS-R but Thanks for the advice on the brakes, the last time I did rebuild calipers was on a Gemini when I was 15. Worked fine, After that I just left it to a pro. I think I will with these brakes as well. Thanks for all the help too.
  10. I have 2 questions A friend owns a R31 Aus Skyline and it needs a brake up grade, I have heard lots but have not actually been told what does or what does not fit. My understanding is GTR calieprs fit but only Jap R31 struts? Any information would help. my 2nd question in on R33 4spots, A friend has a pair he's giving me and the only thing is, I want to rebuild them, has anyone done tihs or know how much it costs for the kit, and the like. Thanks RODHOG
