  1. Stock at the moment, will mostly get 230rwkw once I'm finished with it. Used for the hills mainly.

I have 18x9.5+20 245/40/18 with ~250rwkw and the power gets put down fairly easily with decent tyres and wheel allignment. Set up for cornering though, with a bit more camber, powering out has to be done with finesse as the rear end gets happy.

  2. Also bought a turbo blanket, with heat wrapping for the manifold and dump, and Turbosmart adjustable FPR. Car is coming along nicely. Should be started and running on a basic tune end of this week.

Booked in for Monday for tuning. Was originally today but had a few issues with parts not arriving on time and had to reschedule.

  3. No because people actually know it is not good and that users just try to justify their own stupidity with pathetic illogical arguments.

If it wasn't for all you dickwad users then there wouldn't be a demand, so then there wouldn't be a supplier, and therefore there wouldn't be an industry. You guys have got you head so far up your arses that if you had any regard for the good of the society you live in then you wouldn't use. The fact is that you are so self serving, self centred morons that when you have kids and they f**k themselves up you will the first to lay blame on society. Fact is you are to blame for the next generation of users.

And it doesn't matter if you use once a month or once an hour you are all morons and are all to blame.

y u heff to be so medd

  4. absolutely you can. I say, I have used it in the past, and occasionally now when I catch up with a certain group of people, and don't touch it outside of that time. Last time was about 8 months back? And this is the problem, people that are close-minded to it just can't comprehend the meaning of recreational, that it can be an occasional use and that it HAS to lead to frequent use and addiction, maybe because that's what they've become conditioned to believe through Government drug 'education'..?

I have plenty of friends who use it in moderation, and live perfectly normal lives, with steady jobs and families.

On the same token, I have seen it destroy peoples lives. It is all dependent on the person.

  5. Thought this could use an update:

Car was officially engineered and licensed on Friday the 25th of September. I also had a retune done as I had a track day on the 26th. Made 310rwhp (a lot less than the original dyno sheet) but a fat torque curve. Lucky I had a tune done, because the original tune was very aggressive, so the tuner richened it up and put some more timing in it.

Saturday 26th September - had the car licensed for a whole 1 day, and took it to the track. After around 12 laps it would't make boost. After stuffing around trying to fix it, left and gave it back to the mechanic.

Apparently my z32 afm died. So on that note: I just bought a genuine Garrett GT35R (.86 a/r), Progate 48mm gate, 1000cc Deatschworks EV14 injectors and that is all getting bolted on (with the high mount mani, freddy plenum, and link g4+ ecu) and tuned before the end of the month. I know it is a bit of overkill just because of a dead AFM, but pff, I can't be stuffed waiting any longer. Bite the bullet, and all that sort of stuff.

The tuner I have chosen is Anthony Scali, a very well known tuner in Perth, maybe even Australia. I believe he was the tuner of ND4SPD - the record setting 32R at Racewars.

I also picked up some smoked LED tail lights, radiator cooling panel and front lip/diffuser combo. Will hopefully be getting all that on, along with some side skirts and rear pods before the end of the year.

Attached is some porn for your viewing pleasure. Got it detailed before the pits.

  6. guys- who's running 18x10 +22 or near size wheels & how much camber are you running to tuck them?

currently has 235/40 and they stick out a good 15-20mm~

got defected for them sticking out so only solution is to tuck them in as i dont want to change wheels,

last alignment i had was -1.4

i'm thinking close to -1.8-2 as i will be lowering it bit 20mm more so the top of the tyre just tucks in.

I am assuming this is on a ST/T, not an R.

At that offset the entire rim will never be inside the guard. Adding more camber will just make the bottom poke out more.

  7. I am still here everyone. Car is still unregistered due to the defect notice, but I got the Engineering approval in principle paperwork back from DoT and forwarded it through to my engineer. Shouldn't be long now before she is back on the road.

I managed to pick up a neo head from a mate who had it inspected at Head Torque, so I will put that on the 3L in the shed. Also got a quote from Kelford for 272 cams. Once the engine in the car has the high mount/ffp/link g4/adjustable cam gears on, I will start stripping the 3L down and building it up with forgies.

Fun times ahead, still playing the waiting game which is doing my head in though.

  8. My Grandfather smoked his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, 'If you ever want to see your grandchildren graduate, you have to stop immediately.'. Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake. He gave it up immediately. Three years later he died of lung cancer. It was really sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- 'Don't ever smoke. Please don't put your family through what your Grandfather put us through." I agreed. At 28, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because your post gave me cancer anyway.

  9. Ok well addressing those points:

    - Is the Magna not comfortable? I thought they were a bit of a couch on wheels given they're old bangers.

    - How much power does a daily need? If you're at least as fast the nearest P-plater Falcodore then you can stay ahead of the carnage.

    - As for looking cool...I drop my son off at his private school in our beat-up, smoky old VS*. Other kids are dropped off in Euros, including some exotics like Aston Martins, Maseratis and Ferraris. This doesn't worry me one bit, because I could easily buy any of them but I'd rather keep my money in my multiple properties, and I know most of the people turning up in the exotics are up to their eyeballs in debt or they're writing them off against their businesses. There's rich people, and there's people who try to look rich. I don't consider myself rich but I'm not about to hurl myself into debt on a depreciating asset just to play "Keeping Up with the Joneses".

[edit to avoid all sorts of e-carnage] NZ is a different culture to Aus so the last point may be moot over there. [/edit]

*...although my son is now keenly aware of keeping up appearances so this may change.

-The magna isn't that uncomfortable, but 20 years takes its toll on a cars suspension. Obviously a newer euro would be a much nicer ride

-More than what mine has. It struggles to overtake when I am sitting on 100.

-It's a 30k 6 year old bimmer - not a god damn aston martin. I thought it was a fair compromise between luxury and price. But yes, my decision to work towards a house has taken priority.

  10. The fact of whether I could afford it or not was never the issue. I could afford a 50k loan over 5 years and still be comfortable, but then I will be sacrificing money that I could be putting extra off the house.

I am grateful for all the input from everyone, I appreciate all the advice.

I have decided to keep the magna for now, and put the money I would be using on the loan into the high interest savings account that I have my house savings going into, and when I get my mortgage, I will put extra onto the house, and when the magna becomes a problem, I can redraw and buy a car outright.

The deciding factor for decision wasn't actually the money, it was the fact that I have no secure parking (only have 1 secure spot) for it for at least the next 6 months until my house is bought (and then maybe another 10 months if I am building), and the fact that I am on FIFO (fly in fly out) the car will be sitting in the open, depreciating and an easy target for thieves. This situation will change when I have a house for myself with a double garage :D

The main reason I wanted the 30k car was because I wanted to be comfortable, have plenty of power, and look OG as f**k. The car in question was a e92 335i (decked out with m3 body kit :woot: ) I am well aware there are much cheaper "dailys" out there, but none of which met all the criteria.

As for the holiday: I have recently just paid for a contiki tour of Europe for a month. Should be awesome!

    Thanks again everyone.

  11. Trying to gain some perspective on the situation at hand, and some advice from others who have hopefully been in the same or similar position may help.

Basically my 96 mitsi magna daily is run down: Old (330+kms), leaks oil and coolant, noisy, mouldy, dented. BUT, has been reliable. Only hasn't started once in nearly 3 years of ownership and that was because the starter died.

I am looking at buying a house in the next 6 months. I can buy this car, and pay it off in 1-2 years, as well as buy and afford my house, without sacrificing my lifestyle. (Had an accountant look at my finances)

My head says I should keep my magna until it starts to become costly, but I would really like to buy a nicer car to drive around in.

    Opinions?
