  1. Thanks for the info mate. I'll get back to you on the Bentley rubber. Cheers for the offer!
  2. Where was I Matt? I was stuck behind Pawley I wasn't about to be a hero trying to overtake anyone. I don't find the 540's to be a PITA or noisy Martin. Mind you I'm probably so used to them now that I don't notice. Yeah I know there's more to be had in the 60ft and ET department, even on the current rubber - once the driver gets his shite together If 275/40/17 Nittos will fit on the rear and I can get a set 2nd hand (for a reasonable price) I'll stick 'em on ASAP. Any idea if Keir has some and how much he'd want for them Martin? If I got Nittos I run them on the back all the time. Hopefully they can handle the odd corner OK? Obviously they wouldn't be up to 540 standard with soft sidewalls, but a bit of lateral grip would be nice.
  3. I took my "drag" Skyline for a spirited cruise through that hills last night (in full drag trim ) and it was able to hang with the odd GT-R quite easily. I don't think I can ever go back to non-R compound rubber now
  4. I have nothing but praise for Shaun at Boost Worx. His tuning work and on-going support on my car has been bloody excellent! His prices are very reasonable too. I can also vouch for Tim (ex-RPM owner) as he was the one who initially installed and set-up my LT12. Tim is a Microtech guru! IMHO I wouldn't go ANYWHERE else (in Adelaide) other than these two guys for a Microtech install and tune.
  5. Yep lap 1 was a nice casual cruise. Lap 2 was more fun for me, 'cause I was driving my car Mind you Erica did a damn fine job against the guys on the first lap
  6. I personally like knowing that my best numbers (in my sig) have been run in the EXACT same trim as I drive the car on the road whenever it comes out of the garage. I don't view using slicks, purpose drag suspension, removing exhausts, pulling out the interior and so on... as cheating. However, I PERSONALLY "do" see these things as taking the shine off MY end result, hence I choose not to do them - at this stage. There are sooo many variables that people can, and do, view as "cheating" that it's ridiculous to call ANYTHING cheating! You may as well say that any change from the original standard vehicle is cheating Once again, I PERSONALLY, believe that comparing 1/4 numbers from a car using parts/mod's that are NOT legal (never have or will be) for road use (slicks and Nitrous as examples) vs. a car using only mod's that "CAN" be made legal (larger turbo and ECU upgrade as examples) is pointless. It's my opinion and I'm entitled to it. I'm certainly not taking anything away from those that do use non-road legal mod's, faaar from it! The bottom line is... Run what ya brung and hope ya brung enough If a Skyline (or any car for that matter) runs quick numbers over the 1/4 I don't care whether it's using nitrous, C16, LMS, no interior, slicks, fluffly dice, a dancing Elvis on the dash or the driver has his eyes closed the entire length of the strip. If it runs the numbers then I'm impressed! I'd like to clarify that I do not race on the street. My preference to run in street-trim at AIR has nothing to with illegal street activities.
  7. Adrian, When Ben ran his 2JZGTE powered JZA70 Supra (was a cover car for Zoom) to a 10.8 @ 120-130mph it was on M/T ET Streets and his 18" chrome rims on the front. He ran it that way for a few meetings if I recall correctly. I don't remember him reporting any major car handling issues.
  8. C'mon now, play nice everyone God damn pool cheater Martin! Real pool players use their fingers In all seriousness I personally don't see using slicks as cheating. However I do give a big thumbs up for those that run good numbers on street radial tyres I'd be happier with an 11.9 on my road rubber than a mid/low 11 on slicks.
  9. I know there's plenty left in the car on street tyres, both in ET and MPH, but it'd be nice to see just how quick it can go on slicks. And with the new SAU 'slicks' and 'non-slicks' classes it wouldn't be a pointless exercise. I've had a heap of people suggesting I give slicks a shot, even if for just one meet. Most of them are old school drag racers hence they don't see why I wouldn't want to go with slicks. I can go faster by winding the boost up more (still have at least another 3-4psi up my sleeve) and I could stop my BOV from leaking so that the boost holds up top. Currently the BOV cracks open above 20psi.
  10. I'm toying with the idea of bolting on slicks, just to see the full potential of the car. If I don't go with slicks then I'll be out there as a spectator only. I've ran at the last 4 meets! I feel like watching for a change.
  11. Not sure Tim? I don't 'think' either car ran PB's.
  12. This is the Torana that came to grief vs. me at AIR (04Apr04)
  13. Yep cool, gotcha mate I was 99.99% sure that's what you meant. I'd be interested to know how the female driver of the Torrie that crashed whilst running against me has faired? I certainly won't be forgetting the image of her car spinning through the air as I drove past! I'm staying right out of this whole 'ass' thing
  14. Naa it wasn't me Sam! I haven't gone anywhere near King William in my Skyline for months! That's the second sighting of my car when it was well and truely tucked away in the garage. Maybe it's like Herbie the love bug? It just drives around by itself when I'm not at home I've spotted that awesome looking silver/carbon bonnet R34 GT-R (COPY ME) around my way about 3 times this week. At one stage he drove past my house whilst I was out the front washing my car. We did the... 'one Skyline owner to another' nod thing Saw him getting tailed by the police going along Sudholz Rd yesterday arvo too.
  15. Good quality gears, at a very reasonable price and easy horsepower for the taking. What more could you ask for. Yeah Lach you should see mid 270's at a rough guess.
  16. Just what you need Lach. There's an extra 10 or so rwkw there for the taking mate. You only need one of them though, unless you're going for non-NVCS cams?
  17. And THEN head out to AIR for a few drag passes!
  18. 'We' means you in English. 'Wewe' is to sing the Swahili word for you. So you just sang.... "you homosexual man" Either that or you said "you you homosexual man" You've got a stutter
  19. Hahaha.... ahhhh Erica you just cracked me up big time It's a long story Steve.... but suffice to say I added together the only Swahili words I knew and ended up calling Erica a "bad donkey" Which is actually quite a compliment when you think about it, donkey ='s ass, hence "bad ass"
  20. John, Did the above occur at AIR on Sat? Or are you refering to another Torrie roll over with a female driver that happened in Perth??? If it's the latter then that is bloody freakish! If it's the former then go have a FULL read of this thread mate
  21. Hmmm.... yeah ok fair call Steve. IMHO it'd still be nice to see you run your car at AIR, especially once it's been tuned by the gun Signal tuner.
  22. I was toying with the idea of borrowing Ben's (well known 10sec Yellow Supra owner) ET Streets for the next AIR Wednesday 4, 6 and Rotary meet. I'm not so sure now you've highlighted the "sway" issue Matt! Especially after nearly being cleaned up by a car suffering from this exact issue!
  23. Yep Martin, I agree on all points. Notice how Steve went right-on-by though. See what we're up against Martin. Steve's proving a hard nut to crack! He'll give it a go eventually. We just need to give him enough incentive Hey Steve, would you give it a shot at AIR if I could organise a magazine shoot of your car? Say in Cosmo or Cleo, or some girly mag like that Maybe even New Idea or Womens Weekly.
  24. The big question is.... after Steve gets his killer Signal tune will we THEN get to see the Steve mobile hit AIR to back up the dyno queen numbers hehehe Just jokes mate Trent, can you get James to sponsor Steve with a set of sticky rear Toyo's? That way he hasn't got an excuse to not give the drag strip a go. Thanks mate Ok everyone lets all put lots of peer group pressure on Steve to give the off-street drags a go, just once!
  25. Although I haven't yet posted up my timeslips, I 100% agree with the timeslips required call.
