hi guys its not a skyline but it is will be rb powered. Roughly 6 years ago i bought my self a 1973 240z I bought it with plans to do a full restoration and rebuild for a tough streeter with the occasional track day. I origonaly planed and had the gear to build it with an l28et which isnt a bad thing because they can be very power productive with the right set up. but i recently found a compleat rb20det and every thing i need except the fuel pump set up to get it running in my s30 hence the reason i am here on this forum Here are are some pics with with where i am at with the build this is how it was when i bought it i had the dash redone by rear spares i bought some willwoods cleaned up the suspension I did a lot of body work and rust repair including replacing the roof skin to get rid of an unwanted sunroof fit up some fender flares off the rotisserie and a panel fitments before doing finishing off the body work and finally my rb20 waiting to be fitted up

this is what the rat rod zed looks like now and a z31 200zr a guy i know had imported over not long ago, its rb25det inside

not sure about the colour though

my bike i just built up from a basket case I fabricated the whole seat cowl from sellys expanda foam and fiberglass well i think its cool cos its built and not bought

i sold it to a guy in England he then sold it to a guy in Ireland I found his build thred on auszcar.com and the first photo was of the car sitting out the front of my house here in murray bridge south australia. once you own an s30. you cant get them out of your system. I use to be a v8 bogen until i found a 260z, then i was converted to the datsun nissan name in general. At the time i had a xc falcon with a 302 Cleveland 4 speed manual. The 260z was stock as a rock but was still faster then the ford in every way

Its all good. I now have a 240z and a 260z 2 seater, a 280zx and a z31 300zx turbo californian so im stocked up for now

I use to own that zed when it was stock as a rock. I sold it on ebay 7 or so years ago and shiped it to Europe. The only reason i sold it was to buy an r32. that was a silly move. It didnt take long for me to get bored of the r32 and sell it to buy a 240z. Now i have the best of both worlds. A 240z with an rb20det

nah i just had no way of lifting the engine out of the car at the time

its engine in all the way for me I have a 300zx and did a top end rebuild with the engine still in the ca,r so i took every thing out except the engine block. i did it all in a week, thats with sending the heads in to get reconditioned They arnt the hardest car in the world to work on. I have seen road tests between the gtr and the 300zx.The 300zx is faster in a straight line but gets beat bad in the corners.They suffer body flex with the targer roofs. Saying all that i would swap it for a gtr any day

thanx for the interest guys. I was originally going to run an l28et but the rb20det fell in to my lap. there are a few cool early zed floting around ozz thereis a couple of guys i know, One is puting an ls1 in his and the other an xr6 turbo motor. both will be leathal combinations. I am only looking for around 220 to 250 rwkw. I realy dont think these cars need any mor than that or they just lose it through loss of traction. As it is i will be rinning 9.5 inch rims on the back to try and keep as much power to the ground as possible

yeh sorry about that. I should have payed attention to my join date and not made a guesstimation. An rb20 you ask? Well i got it as a package for $3000. I thought this was a good deal engine and gear box computer and loom engine mounts , gear box mounts to suit 240z tail shaft 3" mandrel exhaust intercooler and piping Ill i am missing it the fuel pump set up The engine is puting out 195rwkw so shold push my 1000kg 240z along rather well I may upgrade to an rb25 down the track if im not happy with the rb20 why dont you think the rb20 is good enough for a 240z ?
