I think the generally accepted rule is to use a spray bottle (garden variety) with a small amount of detergent. Spray the area where the sticker is going to gi with a light film and then apply sticker. the liquid and detergent allows you to move the sticker around and push out any air pockets before its sets in its final position That's the method I have been told when applying vinyl stuff anyway....give it a go...works a treat
