  1. basically its a toss up between a gts4 with 4wd, 550-600bhp, suspension, and other trimmings + money in the bank or a r32 gtr that is stock and may need a bit of maintenance work(done 140k) but then it's a GTR!!......still quite hard to solve this dilemma....
  2. hawks, ive got a running fairly good condition gts4 at 45k and a 2.8Lrb26 with hks2510s around 15k, labour will be max around 3k.Planning for r33 brakes, support will cost round 10-15k. r32 gtrs here valued at 100-120k depending on mods + condition. Looking at a bargain one at 85k (mild mods). Still, it's a gtr but im not that happy to spend another 20+k to get it to around 550-600bhp where i want it
  3. hawks, actually over here #1 will be the cheaper option by about 10-15k our money=divide by around 2.5 to get NZD. yeah, definitely will change gearbox. Does the gts4 have attessa-ets? can i put a r33 vspec attessa into it? or would it cost too much? Cheers
  4. Hi guys, need a bit of help on this. I've got 2 options basically: 1. Get a cheap r32 gts4, transplant a 2.8stroked rb26 with 2530s and support systems. 2. A minimally modded (intake, exhaust) r32 gtr with about 140ks. Which one would u choose and why? What other differences are there between a r32gtr and r32gts4 apart from the engine? I know the gts4 is lighter and apparently the gearbox has a shorter ratio. Can u tell me some more? Thanks tremendously
  5. WOW, an internally stock GTR engine can take 375rwkw of punishment, cant wait to get started on the conversion! Of course, I'll upgrade fuel system, fuel management etc. I'd like to keep the twin turbo setup (although upgraded turbos) for responsiveness, is it possible to get 375rwkw with twins? Or do I have to convert to a big single -with more lag? - to get that sort of power? I also plan to install a 100hp wet NOS system when everythings in place hehehhe.... just because..........
  6. Ive got a HKS GT 600x300x100mm and I havent lost any responsiveness with my stockie turbo, boost still starts to come on at around 2500k if I go a bit heavy of the right foot. Going GTR soon though;)
  7. Thanks Jebu, yes I'm Nain. Good to know that at least 2 R33 conversions been done b4. I'll probly go to the same mechanic as I think both of the cars are making excellent power. Ive contacted Tony but both engines have gone coz he was selling them 1 year ago. Now I plan to get 375rwkw or 500rwhp (as I'm going all out) and keeping the car RWD as I've been going thru the old threads and there's basically not much point going through all the trouble for 4WD. A few more Qs: 1. For the conversion, do I need a whole halfcut or just the engine? 2. My cars an auto but some guys have said to just get an RB25det manual gearbox coz its the same as the GTR, is this true? 3. How much approx. in Malaysia can I get for my RB25det engine-its a series 1 with only 93k on the odometer and in excellent condition? 4. Would the GTR engine internals stand up to 375rwkw or do I have to get forged pistons and other internals? Thanks
  8. Right, basically I want 400hps at wheel or more for a daily driver, no drag/circuit work. Now, Ive got an early edition R33 thats done 93k, mods are big cooler, pod and exhaust. The issue is, do I mod my present ride extensively, or get an R32 GTR? I suspect the cost wont be too different for either. The R32 will be long in the tooth but Im willing to go for an overhaul (labours cheap over here) and maybe add a few upgrades to the block:). Im thinking.... the GTSt is a really nice car but then again, a GTR is something special!!! Need ur input plZ
  9. WTF?Damansara heights huh... is ur skyline in KL or back in aussie? Nice to drive a skyline in Malaysia, a nice change from so many evos or evowannabes:). Anyway, Id probably stick to my original plan and search for a decent low mileage R33 halfcut, sell off the parts I dont need, work on the engine for big power and then transplant into my R33. Another thing, is it doable to transplant the 4WD system??
  10. godfather, all skylines are rare in Malaysia but an R33 Gtst would roughly be half the price of a R33 GTR (both with minimal mods and roughly the same condition). Were talking bout a price difference in the 80k range(about AUD23k). Cars are exorbitantly priced in Malaysia due to import duties. Anyway, there was a R33 GTR halfcut for sale at 18k earlier but its gone now. So I figured with a halfcut at that price and selling off my RB25det block, the cost of the transplant wont be that great. Yet, selling off my gtst for an R32 GTR is another option as I estimate them to be around the low 100k category around here but it might be difficult to find one in good condition. But if I stumble upon one thats well taken cared off and nice mods I wont hesitate
  11. After much deliberation and toing and froing, I figured with all the cost and trouble involved in modding my R33 gtst (auto) to get 300rwkw reliably, it would be better to get an R33 GTR halfcut and transmission, convert and sell my rb25det.(then, i can go crazier and shoot for 600hp+ hehe) R33s are getting slightly older now so I hope to get a halfcut in reasonable condition at a decent price. Just wanted to get ur opinions on this. Is it a fairly easy job? Would I be able to get 4wd ie. make my car a bonafide gtr? Has anyone done this swap before? Your help would really be appreciated!!!!!!
  12. lwells:can u point me towards that thread? sweetr33, was that 345rwkw or hp? without an engine management system?????? Is that from a reliable source?
  13. For big hp mods chasing 250-300+rwkw on a rb25det, is it a must to use a fwd facing plenum a la Steves greddy one? How high can u go b4 u max out the stock plenum?
  14. Steve, I've already got the big bore decatted exhaust, pod and CAI and a HKS Gt cooler (600x300x100mm). I think I probly will get the ex cams after I put everything on. I'm not sure the turbo place will give me a comp map, but they seem to be very well-versed with turbos and have even got the Schenk tingamajig that GCG and all the good turbo places over there in Aussie has. They also stand by their turbo and are backing it up with a flexible warranty (they're happy to mix n match n stuff if it doesn't work for me) I actually don't mind lag that much, and 1 bar over 4000rpm would be fine. I actually do most of my commuting below 3000rpm, and only go into boost when I'm in a clear stretch of hiway here in KL. Jebu, I plan to go to TC Kee at Links Racing after I have all my stuff ready. (It'll probably take me close to a year to save up for all of the things but that's ok ) I've met the guy and been to his shop and IMHO, he's one of the best tuners here in KL. Real decent too, double checked the prices that he's quoted and it all adds up. No BS there. I just picked up a 910 pump today but may end up selling it to get a 040. Hey Jebu, what's your ride? Which workshop do you go to?
  15. Comp map? Not yet. It's going on my R33 gtst daily driver/no track or circuit use. I've got a Bosch 910 but may end up selling it for a 040. Also getting 550cc injectors at least, fuel reg and haltech e6x. I'm told it's internal gated, and with a t3 flange, can be bolted on to my stock manifold. Steve, what do you think? I'm chasing 350rwhp (preferably 380rwhp) and don't mind some lag. You've done heaps more than that, do you think I should get cams? Also, my car is an auto (i know!!!!!) so will the transmission survive? Cheers
  16. Greetings, Got some specs from a local turbo shop for a t3/t4. comp housing a/r .70 wheel 56mm turbine housing a/r .84 wheel 58mm The question is, will this flow well enough for 500bhp? (assume all the support systems are in place). Cheers
  17. What do you know, I'm on the road to 250rwkw (maybe even a bit more) I've got FMIC 600x300x100,Decatted exhaust + pod with CAI. This is what I'm going to do: T3/t4 hybrid turbo, int. gated rated 500hp bolt on Haltech E6X full management Bosch pump 044 if 910 doesn't do the job(i've already gotten the 910) 550 injectors Fuel pressure reg.
  18. Anyone know what turbo is comparable to this one (specs above)?
  19. Wow, those are some nice curves freebaggin. :boobies2: I contacted Tim at HPIAbox bout your turbo, I'm afraid I won't be able to afford his price.(exchange rate very poor for me at the mo) On the up side, I found a local turbo engineering place. He quoted a very good price for this T3/T4 hybrid: Compressor housing a/r .70, wheel 56mm Turbine housing a/r .84, wheel 58mm It's internal gated and I know it's not BB, but I don't mind. He said it's rated at 500hp. What do you think? :sadam:
  20. Greetings, A few performance shops mention that the 3540 is one of the popular turbos alongside the GT25. I've done a search of the threads and there doesn't seem to be many people with this turbo in their rides. At SDU, there's one guy who's had good results with it. Just would like to see people's experience with this turbo. Cheers
  21. 4door, what sort of power has boostd got? At what psi?
  22. 747, I'm asking horsepowerinabox for a bolt on hybrid garrett with internal wastegate(double ball bearing). Freebaggins got 253rwkw at 1.15bar and 265rwkw at 1.2 bar with it and bigger injectors but stock others. Seems to be a very reasonably priced bolt on turbo (I've compared). You interested?
  23. Whatsisname, What turbo have you got on your car? What's your setup? (admire your 291rwkws!)
  24. freebaggin, what turbo is the JMS R33 using? I'm sure he's got manifold etc done.
