    Brake Pads/fluid

haha well i would love to if i knew people who went! lol that and i want to make sure my car isnt going to blow on my first ever lap so trying to get everything all sorted but im a paranoid overthinker when it comes to my skyline so that might be a while everything on it is original so thats why im worried "things" are going to break haha... I've seen BC coilovers a few times when ive been reading up on them, they arnt too bad priced either i believe? do you know if its easy to get them reconditioned later on in hobart? or do they have to be sent off?

yeah if i was too do track days id be considering Redstuff rather than green, just purely because the car wont see a track until it has been fully modded but for the moment im going to try and keep her stock standard apart from the usual bolt on upgrades until i know the car a bit more then ill consider larger power, next move is the suspension i reckon

thanks alot Zoid when i replace the standard pads ill definatly shoot you a inbox for the moment greenstuff seems to be what would suit me but later on i hope to see a track atleast once lol got my rotors in and some new pads but fair sure the pads arnt very good but im not sure, has anybody heard of TRW's? thats what i was given so just put them in for the time being until i source some better brakes... thanks again everyone for the help

think i might try and go with remsa pads....are they available locally in hobart anywhere? gotta try and get a set of pads before 10am tomorrow >.< not fun lol also should i upgrade my brake lines while im there to braided lines? are these easy to find in tassie for r33's?

thanks nissan, ive never heard of petroject? where abouts in hobart is that? do you know roughly how much a set of 4 greenstuff will cost ? read alot about keeping away from bendix so not a 100% keen on them...

now im reading bendix ultimates are shit....gotta stop over reading me thinks lol
  11. hey guys just a quick question and its probably been asked a thousand times but im in a hurry as i have to take it to the mechanics tomorrow... im replacing my 33 gtst's rotors to slotted ones and the front brake pads need changing..., im going to change all 4 brake pads at the same time? read somewhere on forums that it might be a bad idea to change both the pads and rotors at the same time? is there any truth to this... What is the best brake fluid to buy before i go and get my brakes done so i can get that replaced too? I read on the braking forum that Bendex Ultimates might be the best to go for brakes can anyone recommend a good place locally to go to get these at a decent price for all 4 brake pads?..... Edit : i got quoted 350$ for a pair of EBC redstuff....does this sound about right for just a pair? am i better off going bendex?
  12. same as above, could i get a pic of the sparco wheels?
  13. thanks again mate, ive only recently bought the car in the last few months so im going to assume the clutch is old and worn, its all pretty much stock....what clutch would you guys recommend for a every day driver/take a decent amount of power ? something that is good for stop/go traffic....
  14. im pretty sure it only does it just while the clutch is pressed in....would be annoying at a set of lights i could imagine would feel like im doing damage to something the whole time im sitting there lol...but while driving its barely noticeable. Can it cause damage if i leave it ? if it can cause damage, would i be better off just replacing my whole clutch straight away?
  15. thanks oem....yeah i thought leaving it for that long might have been a bit bad so took it for the drive just so it had a bit of air flowing throwout bearing....what would have caused it to just break when the car hasnt been driven? do you guys have a rough idea of where i can buy a bearing and how much itd cost roughly in labour at a mechanics??
  16. hey guys im a bit of a skyline/car noob so bare with me this afternoon i went to take my 33 out for a drive as i havent had the time in the last week and first off my battery was drained, which i guess was caused from the alarm system in it, maybe a light or door left open but thats not the problem, when i was trying to get it going i tried to jump start it down the drive way i didnt do it a whole lot or very far but just tried twice to get it going then afterwards just decided to start it using a different battery and then replaced mine back in to recharge, anyways when i went to put it in gear i noticed when i engaged the clutch it had a loud strange whine/whirr?? another person with me thinks its more of a grinding but i dont think so i let it sit for a while to charge the battery probably 30mins? (side note...heard rumors leaving skylines sitting in one spot for long periods is bad? is this the case as it did get pretty hot in there to the point it was making the ticks you get on a hot engine when turning it off) after it charged i took it for a drive to see if the noise would go away, if i was riding my clutch the noise wasnt there but if i had it fully engaged it was there, sometimes it would be loud sometimes barely noticeable.... does anybody know what this could be? the last time i drove it, it didnt have this noise but now all of a sudden it did after the battery went flat....
  17. thanks guys yeah ive got a spanner and that to remove it but i had the problem as above, couldnt get to it from the engine bay....ill try and get to it from underneath...? its not that its hard to remove its just that the spanners i have are too large for the engine bay =/
  18. hey does anybody know where i can get one of these bad boys from in tasmania...? ive had 0 luck, even tried going to the local mechanic and ask if i could pay to use his but they didnt even have one..... or if anyone is willing could they help me out using there socket or something?? willing to pay......
  19. hey guys sorry been flat out moving house so havent had the net, ive ordered a o2 sensor which should be coming soon so ill try and get that in asap then after that will book her in for a suspension job...can anyone recommend what to get done? obviously going to get bushes done when im doing it but what is a list of everything thats definitely worth doing other than whats previously been said wheel bearings,bushes.... and what it would roughly cost.... also i noticed the last couple times ive refilled at the petrol station that when i turn my car off and keep going my car makes a strange loud noise...its comes from the engine bay under high revs i guess it kinda sounds like air in the engine? someone said its my clutch fan? Edit: Also rims!! does anyone know of a good place to buy rims that suit a skyline? (or anyone thats selling some) they are going on a white skyline so still deciding whether to go black rims on it or find some other ones
  20. hey guys sorry for a late reply been busy at work, i certainly see where both sides are coming from on the FMIC, i dont think im going to hold off from getting one completely, i think for the moment im probably best off fixing up the suspension/steering/brakes going to go get a quote this week for them and ill post back here with what i come up with and see what you guys reckon with what they quote me.. ill get onto finding a new o2 sensor this week aswell, then hopefully find a way to rewire up the other broken plug....should i try and plug the existing o2 sensor back in to see if it works? or could i risk car damage doing that? surely a reason on why it was unplugged the only thing i notice on the existing o2 sensor is both plugs are cracked/bit burnt (rubbing on the turbo im guessing) so no idea on why they was unplugged in the first place..
  21. yeah im not sure if its broken just noticed that it was rewired so wasnt sure on why that would be so a fault code makes sense, yeah ill get onto the suspension next week and try and get her booked in and see what they can do for me, still undecided on if i should buy parts myself or just let the suspension place do it?
  22. yeah they rewired it underneath the sensor cant really see from the pictures....thanks for that was wondering on why they had done it...should i try and fix it or just leave it?
  23. i think upgrading my suspension/wheel bearings is a smart first move then yeah still debating FMIC....does anybody know what that plug is in the pictures i showed you guys? not the radiator one the other one....its rewired so not sure if its broken but what if it ever does...what does it do?
  24. yeah might just leave the FMIC and stuff for now just stick with what you guys suggested, upgrade my suspension/steering then go from there...ahh yeah i get which part you mean on the back of the lights, shouldnt be to much of a problem then... thanks for that! good to know that i can keep my front bar if i choose too lol... does anybody have any idea on those loom plugs in my second posts picture? i could take a better one today if needed...its plug part is broken and they seemed to have rewired it under the sensor? is this normal? edit: ive just been searching around looking at suspension parts, i found this kit http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Nissan-Skyline-R33-SUPER-PRO-Front-Rear-Suspension-Bush-Kit-/330744209980?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4d01e4223c would buying something like that then taking it to a suspension place make it cheaper for me in the long run? or am i better off just going to a suspension place for things like bushes etc? never changed suspension on a car before so not sure how i would go changing the coilovers
  25. im located down in tassie...dont really know many people in the scene down here so kinda makes it hard and thanks mate ill try and look for a coilover install guide, i currently have about 3grand to spend on her which im guessing will mostly goto suspension now, will 3grand get me far suspension/steering wise? ive read up about the Hicas system, is there any particular lock out bar i should look out for? i see alot of no branded ones on ebay etc and im a bit weary about putting them on my car not knowing whos made it...
