  1. man u gotta dump it hey! even if u can afford aftermarket stuff, jsut grind the springs and put my eyes out of their misery! neat looking wheels otherwise, nice purchase
  2. There are a number of things that affect premium; 1. the agreed value u want, the higher it is, the higher the premium. 2. your no claims bonus or rating, this would probably have the single greatest affect on the premium. 3. age of the driver/s. 4. level of modifications. 5. garaging suburb. all these, among other things, can affect premium. P.S I heard just cars dont cover your vehicle if its stolen from being kept on a street over night?! is this truE?
  3. tell him not to put a RB20 in a VL..... i did it and it was very average. go atleast a RB30ET or a RB25DET. But, i guess he is coming from a NA VL so the he will most likely be hanging on to his seat rails the first few times he drives it
  4. Hey guys, If your interested in a full comprehensive quote, I work for Shannons Ins. If your looking for; Agreed Value Choice of Repairer Free Windscreen Cover Pay by the Month (at no extra charge) Modifications cover (minor and extreme) Driving Course Cover PM me with your contact details and I would be happy to help out as long as you havent had a recent loss of license
  5. DId you insure the car for an agreed value? Can you take it to your own repairer if its involved in an accident? Do you get a free windscreen each year with no excess? Can you pay by the month at no charge? Can you do more mods without the premium increasing?
  6. if they crashed YOUR car which was insured under a policy in YOUR name then yes it would affect your record/no claim bonus etc.
  7. once again id like to state that stickering a car for a genuine reason is fine, its stickering a car for something legal or not requiring a permit that isnt right. If thats just a cop doing his job then clearly he is under-qualified. its like employing someone to do a job but they arent qualified to do it properly. perhaps some basic general knowledge training before the job would be a good idea rather than NOTHING AT ALL. Cops having to 'make sure' something is legal is silly in my opinion because its an inconvenience, revenue raising, target achieving and more importantly a waste of time if its not warranted. their lack of knowledge gives them too much power. but thats the facts of life and im happy to deal with it Steve. Im sure you are well aware that no amount of lobbying will change these laws.....
  8. Nathan, exactly if u think modified cars arent targeted, then your kidding yourself...... ive had both good and bad experiences with cops, all im saying is that a bit of consistancy needs to come to the fold.
  9. what, something about a cruise to a pub or something? did u get his rego? dob him in..... im not approving reckless or careless driving, in fact someone caught doing such a thing should loose their license and have their car impounded..... im sure u could get a hold of the rego of the vehicle if it is still bothering you also, as it was a club cruise that was tarnished by it.
  10. The cop that pulled me advised he was a designated traffic cop, if this is not the case, then is saying that some form of intimidation or something? it seems stories between the police, the media, the pits etc varies from day to day and place to place.....
  11. i just feel that leave fate of your vehicle in the hands of a policeman who has very limited, if any, knowledge is unfair. Im happy to deal with it though, as it will only get worse i reckon.... yes they should be trained to do a better job protecting the public from criminals also....
  12. id love to see some numbers relating modifications of vehicles to the direct cause for fatal/serious accidents in Australia....
  13. cops have never received "attitude" from me, as for them enforcing the law, i dont believe a yellow sticker for a factory blow off valve constitutes enforcing the law. its just another $52 for the pits and a hassle for the owner. i dont believe cops have very good knowledge of imports, mods etc which is the case i am trying to put forward here. giving someone a yellow sticker based on their limited knowledge, is an abuse of power in my opinion. the officer that pulled me over also claimed that no vehicles in Aust or Japan came out with wheels wider than 7". I queried this and said that late model HSV wheels are atleast 8" wide, i looked me in the face and said, thats impossible and that no wheels are 8" wide! as i stated earlier, its designated traffic cops, who are on duty to pull over cars/issue defects that i am talking about here, not those who are involved in drug cases/rape/murder/child abuse/elderly bashings etc etc
  14. Yes, from my experience and encounters I do think traffic cops are sh*t and no i will not be joining up because i have a new police recruit in the family and he has told me how they operate on the streets and the training, or lack there of, of motor vehicles and mods. The attention imports get is fine, its the unwarranted harrassment that I do not like..... P.S I will never own a stock commodore.....
  15. No problem with a cop doing a random license check, but I do have a problem with harrassment. I have certainly grown up too champ, and I am whinging because the treatment modified car owners get is absolutely rediculous. If your in the wrong, fair enough, if your not then why the rough treatment?! Do a random license check, I dont mind but dont use that as a weak excuse to put a yellow sticker on a car. revenue raising and meeting targets accts for 90% of yellow stickers in my opinion. cops dont receive any training at all on vehicle modifications so MOST of the time they have no clue of what they are looking at. How many people have been yellowed for having a factory fitted BOV?? I know a guy who was yellowed for having a genuine STi wing on his WRX, and someone who was stickered for having a jap spec s15 Silvia with the factory pillar mounted boost gauge. Learn the rules first before you start barking orders please Mr C unstable! oink oink y'all!
  16. ive bought coilovers from him, good service. had a bit of drama with the product though.
  17. haha, that PIG SHTR RB20 VL i had couldnt even drop 1st!
  18. agreed, my car will be going over the pits in the next week to remove the yellow, I WILL NOT be paying for permits. However, last time i went, the pits guys said that I could not leave without permits?!
  19. more to this issue of cops harassing people in modified cars.... I got pulled over on Leach Hwy @ 11:30pm last night after being at a mates place in Bateman. Now my car ALREADY has a yellow sticker on it. The cops claimed it was a "random license check and vehicle inspection" they proceeded to look over my engine bay, through my boot, in my glovebox, centre console etc. He even asked me "what the hell are you doing down this way at this time of night on a Monday when you live all the way up in Claremont??" Am I supposed to admit that I deal drugs so he can pin me on that? Absolutely pathetic, and its sh*t like this thats makes me consider selling my car because I cant stand the petty harassment from bored law enforcement officers..... TARGET THE HOONS! oink oink y'all!
  20. Or you got this one, if your really keen http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=91043 Scroll half way down page 1, and you will see the 4dr pics....
  21. for your info, just recently here in WA our MP for police was recently picked up driving without a license..... He was susequently removed from his portfolio and has since quit politics
  22. the 2 VLs in the top pic with big chromes both do 9s down the 1/4. nothing wrong with a big skid on ya wedding day
  23. are u sure your not dialing up 6000rpm in 2nd gear then dropping the clutch out of the roundabout? u must be giving that right pedal a bit of carpet action to get the ass out so easily. i have heard stories of shagged shocks attributing to this though.
  24. This Monaro, it is going to CAPA isnt it?? Monaro with a big blower would be cool..... Congrats on the new purchase mate, something newer and fresh is always a good thing.
