Hi everybody.

I've just recently purchased my R31 GTS-R

that has an RB25DET conversion.

Last night with Dr_drift and Meggala we establised it has a series 2 RB25.

ALSO... now this is the bonus part.

The ECU was just sitting on the floor behind the carpet and a few screws were missing.

So we HAD to have a look and one opened up we saw that the ECU had a nice daughter board with a chip...

A fully programmable chip that is.

Right down the the valve timing.

How cool is that.

No $1,500+ APEXI Power FC for me to tune the ECU and go fast :burnout:

No... this isn't the R32 chipped...

i was gonna let dr_drift play with that on mine for some ground work but there's more better things now.

It's a 33 ECU with a daughter board and on that board are several chips.

This car was a race/drfit car in Japan and has many mods.

As for markings on the chip or nothing... there are none. It's a generic sort of chip with the maps bunrt on it.

It looks like someone has done it in their bedroom sorta of thing... not something brought off a shelf that's for sure.

Maybe that's why it goes so hard

:D

series 2 RB25DET

Massive STOCK frount mount

I think it has a T04E.. them came with them stock so i'm assuming it's what on there. Hits boost about 4,000rpm.

turbo extractors... STOCK

stainless steel exhaust manifold... again Stock!

It's got coils overs all round. Cusco is what's on there (i've got spare 500 pound springs as opposed to the 250/200 that are in there now)

5 Stud converstion -- > R32 GTR brakes

shortend shifter

R32 Forged GTR Rims

Monster heavy clutch.

260 km/h IMPUL dash

of course the ECU is modded

There are extractors coming off the block going into the turbo.

And then off the ass end of the turbo.. the exhaust manifold is stainless steel.

so that is different is it not ?

or wan't i clear ??

And the stock front mount for a GTS-R is huge. TRUST ME. i know lot's about the R31 imports.

If you see the car i can explain it.

The GTS-R's were brought out (only 800) for the group A racing.

That's why it has lot's of good stock parts.

off the block to the turbo is called the exhaust manifold and from the back of the turbo is called the dump pipe!

:D

Yep!

I'll be there for sure.

it has no extra boost so i guess it's running around the 9psi mark with the big cooler and exhaust...

i'm being a bit conservative but i think i should get at least 180.

Dr_drift is more towards the 200+ though.

we shall see on the day though :P

Might even do some tuning now the ECU has been found to be chipped

R31Nizmoid - Cool, if Dr-Drift can work out how to re-map the R33 ones it'd be great. But I think the write once 84 pin chips are about $70, and the re-writables are about $250 or so !!!

Unless your ECU daughterboard got rid of the 84 pin chip all together and uses a cheaper chip - now that would be cool..

    • Oh, also, forgot to add these photos I believe.
    • Thought i'd update on this. I was able to get in contact with Craig Lieberman and later on Darryl Alison (owner of Kaizo Industries). Darryl was able to help me verify that my car was in fact one of theirs and is helping me find more info on mine !
    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
