i just got a chipped worked ecu for my r32

the ecu came from an rb20det c33 laurel

now for some reason when plugged in the car just keeps turning over and doesnt do much else....

then we tried it in my mates r32....did the same thing....but thats when we noticed!!

the fuel pump wasnt turning on!!

whats the deal....is the c33 laurel pinout different to the r32????????

if so....does anyone know where i need to re route the fuel pump to??

any ideas???

You can run your fuel pump directly off an ignition source in a pinch until you can find the right pinout diagram and then rewire it correctly.

This assumes that the rest of the pins are the same, as cranking the engine has nothing to do with the ecu.

HArd wiring the fuel pump is a bad idea. If you have a accident and the fuel line gets damaged/broken the fuel pump will continue to pump fuel out of the broken fuel line while the ignition is on.

With the original ECU and aftermarket ECU's the computer will shut down the fuel pump when the engine stops sending the an ignition signals i.e. when the engine stops.

you can hard wire the pump but you will need a special relay... the use it on gas conversions . it allows the system to prime when the key is turned on, runs for two secs then shut off, then when ya crack or car is runnin the relay is locked on( uses a tacho signal). when the motor stops the relay unlocks... and stops pumpin fuel. relay cost about 30-40 bucks...... i had to use it on a conversion on one of my other cars.... i hope this helps

i only hardwired the pump for a second to see if it was the only plug wrong on the ecu....but it still wouldnt run...so id say there is many many plugs out of whack...

so if anyone has a genuine laurel pinout diagram...or even a cefy pinout diagram...

that would help!!

I have a Cefiro (presume the same RB20DET as the Laurel) and I can tell you that the R32 uses a more recent version of the RB20DET than the A31 (and possibly the C33). I know the wiring looms arent compatible because my car runs all the older type of plugs (square) where as the R32 runs the rounder plugs etc. I think my ignition system is the same as the R31 RB20DET. So it runs a much older ECU etc. perhaps this is why yours isnt working because it may be expecting different voltages etc
