Hey guys, I'm not exactly a regular in the SA section, but you may know me from such movies as "SAU Admins, do they really have guns and shit?". :(

I'm in Adelaide city till thursday for work n stuff. I pretty much have a lot of time to kill till I go back, so wanted to know what there was to do around the city with no car. Next time I'm gonna drive down and hit the hills n wine country, but for now I'm stuck with public transport and my own two feet.

I've seen heaps of 'lines around the city, and Adelaide university (where a friend of mine goes). I was thinking I might drop into John Verban's car yard for shits n giggles... does anyone know how far from the city it is?

So yeah, please tell me if there's any skyline events with public access happening before thursday night or just places I should go check out while I'm here, keeping in mind my transport situation.

Yeh you could go check out some other shops over here, such as D1 Garage, Viva Garage, Exhausht Technology, GT Autosound, Wheelworx and thats just to name a few.

I'd head to the hills and check some sites and some killa roads........and they are only a stones throw for our not so massive city!!!

I'm on nightshift this week so if you need some help PM and we can organise something!

Darren

work.... in adelaide.... for jspec? bahaha

organising some work with a compliance shop, and also meeting up with a dealer that uses us regularly. Its mostly a PR thing... and I had some friends I wanted to catch up with in Adelaide, so it was a good excuse.

Would love to check out Viva and D1 Garage... but yeah transport n all might be an issue. I might get a hire car or something. Are they accessible by public transport from the city?

I'm looking into extending the visit to Sunday, so I can go out on Sat night with friends.

uummmmm, what is this fabled "public transport" thing you keep mentioning here? Remember, 'tis Adelaide, so no such thing as "public transport" down here; I mean its not as if we are as 'cultured' as the eastern states, hey! :O

Better off borrowing a 'Line from one of your car-yard contacts me thinks. But if you do that then just make bloody sure you dont try one of those ridiculous 'hook turns' that Vics seems to love doing :P

All the best mate, Brendan

im comin into town on wednesday mornin, so if ya want to see an ol skool line... let me know... maybe we can catch up

pete

that'll be awesome pete. can you PM me a contact number? I should be free to meet up most of the day except between 2pm and 4pm and after 9pm.

lol @ lack of public transport. I already asked about borrowing a car, and the dealer dosen't have any with current rego, and they're not too keen on me driving around on trade plates (dunno if they even exist in SA). I might look into a budget rental car or something. Toyota starlet powah!

if ya seriously want some wheels, then Budget (rent a car) is in the city, and they rent small pulsars for like $35 per day i think it was.

Might be the best bet. Seeing as you can drive form the northern most suburbs in Adelaide, to the southern most in about an hour....

schweet. I walked past a budget rental place on North Terrace today, so I might pop in tomorrow and ask about a hire car.

Tell 'em you need a Stagea; would love to see the look on their faces!

*scratches jaw, blank eyed manic look, brain ticking over going 'wtf??'* :O

yeah hi funkymonkey my lines out of action would of loved to of caught up and shown u a niceish 33 GTS-4 i might get it back thursday evening but i really dont know :D and sounds like ur leaving thrusday evenening/night

hey guys, I'm actually leaving sunday night now so I can spend some time with friends over the weekend.

Met up with Pete and his purple great grandpappy line today... and omg. I want one! Nicely restored car, with very sleeper looks and a roaring modern heart. Big fan of that sort of stuff, so I was well excited to get a ride in it today. As I told Pete, one of these days I'll pick up a Datsun 240K and drop an RB25DET and take it to a C110 GTR look.

I took some quality pics of his car too, but unfortunately I left my USB cable at home in melb, so I can only upload em when I get back.

Tomorrow I meet up with Deluxe who's gonna give me a guided tour of SA tuner shops. Loving the SA hospitality. Spewing I didn't bring my line down instead of flying.

Yoshie, I didn't get a PM from you... which is wierd. Sorry mate. Sat night I'm meeting up with friends and going out, so I dunno if I can come cruising at night. Sat morning I'll be free though.

Just saw the thread on the hills cruise on Friday... I'll see if I can get a hire car of some sort to fang around in.

    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
    • I don't get in here much anymore but I can help you with this.   The hole is a vent (air relief) for the brake proportioning valve, which is built into the master cylinder.    The bad news is that if brake fluid is leaking from that hole then it's getting past the proportioning valve seals.   The really bad news is that no spare parts are available for the proportioning valve either from Nissan or after market.     It's a bit of a PITA getting the proportioning valve out of the master cylinder body anyway but, fortunately, leaks from that area are rare in my experience. BTW, if those are copper (as such) brake lines you should get rid of them.    Bundy (steel) tube is a far better choice (and legal  in Australia - if that's where you are).
