Was just looking at adding a few bits and pieces to the car.

At the moment its a fairly stock R33 GTS-M under the hood, other then the that its mostly the eye candy thats been changed so far.....

Was looking at putting an intercooler kit and an Apexi Powerfc unit into the car. Im looking at spending about $1400 on the intercooler kit. Can anyone recommend a good kit...

Also once its all in its going to get tuned and what not, will i be seeing much of a performace difference after the mods?

And if anyone can recommend some good places to buy some of these things and also somewhere that can do all the installation as im always at work and dont really get much time off to do it all myself.

What type of price's will i be looking at for installation??

For the apexi Powerfc unit ive been quoted something like $1350 for the unit, handcontrol, install, dyno run + tune.

Ive been looking around for a while now but maybe someone here can recommend a great place.

Any other handy information that anyone can off would be great.

Thanks Heaps

I wouldn't do intercooler before turbo back exhaust, air filter and boost.

if you already have those, then yes go intercooler.

$1400 would get you a decent Jap brand intercooler kit.

$500 would get you a generic Just jap kit which works just as good.

that's a decent price for the pfc supply, fit and tune.

I'd go in order of mods..

turbo back exhaust

air filter (panel filter in stock air box)

boost controller

intercooler kit

fuel pump

pfc

tune

should give you somewhere around 200-210 rwkw with a safe tune.

Not really sure atm about the exhaust, ill have to go home and check, i know its not standard, its a 3" stainless exhaust but im not sure if its cat-back or turbo-back.

air filter atm is basically a big ugly yellow box :D

No boost controller yet.

And the rest of the stuff is basically what im looking at doing next. But if the best thing to do is get the first few things done then ill look into that i guess.

it's not what you "have to do"

but it is what gives the best result.

no use in having an intercooler if you have stock boost.

no use boosting it up if you don't have the intercooler to cool it and the ECU to make sure it has the right timing fuel and air etc..

exhaust, filter, bit of boost (say 10 psi) is doable on stock intercooler and stock ecu.

get me?

From personal experience, get yourself a split dump pipe and hiflow CAT! On my stock R33 GTST, the split dump and hiflow CAT gained me 21rwkw! Liverpool Exhausts on Seaton Rd Moorebank built my 3" with perfection! i recommend them 100% I have also just purchased a Turbotech boost controller from Mark at the cost of $35 inc Express post.. Just email him and he will give you payment details! Read the thread regarding this product and you will see how good it really is... and also get a decent K&N Panel filter... no need for a POD...

These are my suggestons:

- Split Dump - Hiflow 4" Steel CAT - 3" Mandrel bent Exhaust system (Liverpool Exhausts)

- K&N Panel Filter

- Turbotech boost controller (Mark - [email protected])

- Hybrid GT Spec FMIC (Liverpool Exhausts supply and Fit)

- Bosch 044 fuel pump

- Sard 700cc injectors

- Apexi Power FC + Tuning (Adam - Just Engine Management located in Moorebank)

Make sure the Apexi PFC is the last to be fitted and tunned as to get all your mods in perfect working harmony...

    • Is it alright to top up with just another green coolant?
    • thanks GTSboy. My confusion at the moment is i am trying to locate the ignition, ECU battery power and the ECU negative The closest thing i can find is the for the S15 on Page 8 of the Wiring Specialties web page https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9F33_M_GgENQnZ6STMxVmVNd1E/view?resourcekey=0-eZ4nNRwRoqa1qvKlWWHm8A I cannot find the same diagram for the R33 RB25DET Series 2 dash plug pin out.... Do you know what the Pins? or know where i can find the same pinout diagram for the RB dash plug? Thanks for the advice on the box... i like a 6 speed so might be on the lookout or the box now.. a topic of discussion for another post...
    • Will have a look at that. I cant see any leaks
    • Put another overflow bottle (ie, a 1.25 coke bottle or similar) under the overflow hose and see if it is being pushed out there or if it is disappearing into the engine.
    • Staring on a stand is no issue. You just have to wire everything up, give it fuel and cross your fingers that the stand is robust enough. Arranging the inlet plumbing is often the hardest part, without any surrounding structure to hand some of it from. No need for coolant if you only want to run it for <1 minute. As to the gearbox - I think the little Aisin box is a bit stronger than the other small Nissan boxes that went behind SRs, but I wouldn't be too keen to test its limits with the torque of a boosted 25. I don't know if you can retain the box and the tailshaft. The box won't connect to the RB without an adapter of some sort, which is either a plate that will push the engine forward (which is not good for fitting it into the bay's available space) or push the box back, which messes with the box position and tailshaft length - OR - cut and shut work on the bellhousing, which is a long way from "least modification". I'd be buying a new 370Z 6 speed or similar, doing what has to be done to that to make it fit RB (ie, cut and shut bellhousing) and the requisite tailshaft custom/mods.
