Hi all, as I have only owned this car for 3 weeks, I am still "learning" all about it. It has a 4 speed auto (3 speed + overdrive) but I have noticed when driving, there are 5 gear changes????? I have counted them time after time but still get the same amount of changes. I have checked the Gearbox model on the compliance plate and the number refers to it being 4 speed auto. I have only just noticed this since doing a ECU reset, since then it changes (from a stop/start) throught the four gears BUT then I noticed a further reduction in the rev level of about 500rpm? At 100kph I am doing approx 2600rpm, does this sound right of have I completely lost it???

Torque converters at coupling point have about a 10% slip. To get rid of this slip the fit it was a lockup clutch inside the converter. When it swtiches on (during low load cruise conditions) it locks impellor to turbine to get rid of that slip. Can feel like another gear change because revs will drop around 10% for the same road speed.
