This is not really spam I hope, as I'm a regular member on here for the last 4 years, so I think I can promote my own little space now and then :P

Anyhow, just a short note to let people know about my new multi-platform gaming site has been launched.

http://www.slicedgaming.com

By multiplatform we mean PC, PS2, Xbox, PSP, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, Wii and anything else that comes along that has enough support to allow it to be covered.

Basically Sliced Gaming is the continuation of the previous site that I was working on www.gamebiz.com.au. Gamebiz was getting some 80,000 unique page views and some 40,000 visitors in June, and was really starting to get pretty popular with some hard work over some 4 years on my end.

Unfortunately however, due to problems and blatant corruption from the Editor (who is a moron - lol, long story), I just had to branch out and create a new gaming site. So I grabbed all the code, all the database structure and set it up on a new server last weekend. If you develop a website concept with somebody, just remember, never f**k with the website developer , they'll know stuff you never will

Anyhow, drop by sometime. If you're into gaming you'll probably come across the site sometime in your travels. It's hard to get to the level of IGN and Gamespot, but after all they're mainly industry supported game sites with hundreds of thousands of dollars to throw around, and I would argue their opinions are not always completely unbiased. It's also good to be able to offer an Australian perspective to mostly US and UK based sites.

The site was 100% coded by myself in PHP, and supports a custom mysql backend, and it's always great to be able to just do things your own way, and work towards something you have an interest in.

We're also on the lookout for new staff to help write and help out with the site. It's not easy writing a good review, and it takes excellent grammar and spelling to be able to be a good reviewer. You can't expect free games, but yes, gamebiz was getting games from publishers to distribute to writers to review. In the end of Gamebiz's life, we were actually getting several deals together netting us a couple of thousand a month. We hope soon to be able to continue that with Sliced Gaming.

So if you want to help out, let me know. I believe in rewarding all staff who put the hard yards in over a period time to also share in the benefits, and in some ways it's not a bad little side earner if you can get a few hundred extra a month ontop of you regular "day" job. It was nice at the end getting rewarded financially for doing it, but I just had to kill gamebiz off.

You want to cheat on your wife? or hack her? you psycho!

cheats and hacks are nice, but they take a fair bit of upkeep to maintain, and then people have to get motivated enough to submit them regularly. There was a cheats / hacks section in the old gamebiz forums, people got really excited by it, and then like a month later it was dead as a dodo.

Then there is always http://www.gamefaqs.com/ which has all of that pretty well covered. Although recently I noticed they got bought out by gamespot (like everything), and now its just a glorified gamespot portal

hmm

Gordon that is one awsome effort!!

I only wish I had your php skills to revitalise my site that has been around since 1996 and was making some serious traffic a while back.

Does about 10Gb a month now but dropped off a lot as I dont have the time to put into it lately.

thanks..

had a look at your site before... looks like a lot of work went into it. That's the thing, you can get a good site up for like 6-12 months, but to keep it going 2-3+ years takes a lot of dedication and motivation.

When you start getting some money in, even if it's only $100 a month, then I reckon that's when i think you start getting motivated for the longer term - that "hey I might make some money off this"

    • I'd ask the shop what they used and use that. Mixing coolants is sometimes OK, sometimes not, and you have know the details of each coolant to know whether it's a good idea or not.
    • Is it alright to top up with just another green coolant?

    • Will have a look at that. I cant see any leaks
    • Put another overflow bottle (ie, a 1.25 coke bottle or similar) under the overflow hose and see if it is being pushed out there or if it is disappearing into the engine.
