AzzurrA
Hrm, just finished it in about 8 hours of playing... wasn't really that impressed to be honest... i mean, it had some cool features and gameplay etc... the graphics were a fairly big let-down though, and it was VERY system-hungry.... (for little returns) anyone else played it? what'd u think? Edit: if you get the bonus edition, watch the little clips that are also on the CD... one of them is pretty freaky (shows the shrinks interviewing Alma) and the other one had me in stitches for about 20 minutes! MADGT4
Never really got into FEAR I've been playin Condemed Criminal Origin's which is built on the FEAR Engine. Now that is damn scarey! I found the graphics to be pretty damn good too! Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/125912-fear/#findComment-2325489 Share on other sites
predator
yeah.. i finished it a couple of months ago.. Big big gameplay hole in the middle, and then the last 30 mins was pretty good. So it wasn't terrible, but quite overrated. I think a lot of the reviews of it, didn't really sit down and play the whole game. It was one of those games where it looked really impressive for the first hour or so, and then it was just more of the same for hours and hours after that. Prey is the shit.. play that. FEAR was ok I thought, but when I've started playing Prey, it destroys FEAR in every way for a scary action game. Cooper
I have had this game for a fair while now but only just finished it the other day after a long break from it. I think it is one of the best FPS i have ever played. The AI is second to none the graphic were great especially at 1920x1200, the story was good and quiet scary in parts. There is no game that comes close to the gameplay of FEAR and i cant praise the AI enough no other FPS is close to the level of FEAR AI, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter on the 360 is the only one they may come near. I cant wait for the next one to come out. I have only just got Prey and will start playing it soon, the demo was awesome some great new features not seen before but i have heard it is quite a short game. sl33ek
Hey guys, I picked up this game last week, really loving it so far. Very impressed with it, the AI is great Havn't really played an FPS since HL2, its true about it being a system hog, i have to run FEAR with low texture details, my old geforce 4 cant handle it. How did you guys get PREY, I didnt see see it on the shelves last week? geno8r
the graphics were a fairly big let-down though, and it was VERY system-hungry.... (for little returns) Exactly the reason I uninstalled it after playing it for 30 mins twice. Sh#thouse. HL2 is the best graphic engine so far, amazing HD resolutions of 1920 * 1200, & silky smooth FPS. Doom 3 engine is the next best, nice high res's of 1600 * 1200, & awesome graphics lighting. When I get the time i'll be giving Prey a crack (based on the doom 3 engine). Look out for Portal too anything based on the HL2 engine is a must go. Cooper
FEAR is still one of the best FPS i have every played, yes the HL2 engine is better but a game is not all about looks, the AI is better than anything else released and i think will be the best for a long time coming, and the story line was great. Portal looks like it will be extremely fun i saw a trailer for it the other day. I have played Prey for an hour or so and it gets quiet boring its to repetitive and just uninteresting, i will probably finish it just to say that i have but i wont be replaying it. geno8r
I installed Prey last night. Not bad. Very similar to Doom 3. Level design / graphics is nearly the same, just with added features. Still I had fun for the first hour playing it, will defiantly be playing it more. Topaz
FEAR I thought was a pretty good game. I played in 30 minute to 1hr intervals to make it last longer. The graphics were awesome too, I had them pretty much all cranked high running through my 7800GTX OC'd. I haven't seen HL2 for myself yet. geno8r
HL2 on max everything at 1920 * 1200 px is the sh#t! UT2004 can run 1920 *1200 too, so it's also the sh#t hahahah. Infact, I've got some HL2 screeny's i took. I think the quality on these was High, i now run maximum since my comp. upgrade. predator
I actually thought FEAR was incredibly repeditive... same bad guy for pretty mcuh the *entire* game.. and the same stuff for hour after hour. I kept persisting until the end, but I didn't really want to - just because I had bought it I guess. oh yeah.. sequel? http://www.slicedgaming.com/news9382.html Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/125912-fear/#findComment-2365371 Share on other sites
Bl4cK32
FEAR I thought was a pretty good game. I played in 30 minute to 1hr intervals to make it last longer. Topaz
Isnt that recommended for any game u play? Im not a LAN party 1337h4x0r gamer like some people I know. I have other things to do Just installed SWAT4 today, awesome game as well, graphics could be better. I still think HL2 botched every aspect of graphics except the people faces. The jackets, the walls, the floor, the benches, the computers....they are all craptacular in the graphics department Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/125912-fear/#findComment-2367260 Share on other sites
kralster
Hahahah too bad Half Life 2 was such a bad game. It was such a letdown it was unbelievable. The best FPS of 2004 was without a doubt Chronicles of Riddick on either PC or XBOX.
