hey guys driving a 95 skyline on 8psi running supra front mount and turbo smart boost controler. some might know that standard ECU wont permit me to wind boost past 9 to 10 psi!

need help going to need new ECU and looking at new turbo preferably t4 t5 (dont know much about em so need help) do some ECU's work better with one turbo or all the same.

any names of product and price preferably in Victoria would be great thanks guys. ohh and who youd recommend to do the job!

As for ECUs, there are alot of good ones around. Best find a tuner that you trust and see what he recommends. The best ECU in the world is only as good as the guy tuning it. Alot of people (as I have) go for the power fc as it is tried tested and works well - but it really does depend on who is programming it.

As for turbo - it is impossible to make any sort of recommendations unless you can be a bit more specific about what you want the car to do, eg hp, application (drag, street, strip), etc. Also really need to know what sort of mods you have or are wanting to get, as this can have a huge bearing as well.

If you want a T4, have a look at whatsisnames setup, 13psi boost and pushing out over 250rwkw. If you do a search, he has posted up who built it for him, I think it was tony rigoli performance.

Another option would be to pick up a HKS2835 or similar - Munro is selling one off his 9sec R33 for 3K.

You will of course have to up grade your fuel pump and get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator or larger injectors. You will also have to upgrade your clutch and AFM. If you havent done your exhaust, that will need attention also.

Another thing, what isthe supra front mount rated at? Hp and psi drop? Also an aftermarket panel filter or pod wouldnt go astray.

Not sure who you should speak to locally for your power fc or tuning, try the state forum.

I bought my power fc second hand, and saved a fair bit on new, so that might be worth looking into. If you cant pick one up locally, Hikari in adelaide have them pretty regularly from about 1100 and 400 for a hand controller.

    • When you crank your car, and hit it with a timing light, can you see a steady crank timing?
    • Oh, forgot to add, A few months ago I was getting mixture codes and the car was using crap loads of fuel. You could smell the unburned fuel in the exhaust, it was crazy strong. Economy was over 17.5 l/100 and usually around 19. I smoked the engine and found a leaky CCV hose which I replaced and then I replaced my two pre cat O2 sensors, I also replaced the MAF. This fixed my mixture codes and improved my exonomy but I'm still 14 - 15 l/100 when pottering about town so something is still amiss. Throttle response is much better and it has more pep but I'd like to know why it's still so thirsty (and I'm hoping that whatever it is gives me a bit more poke).

    • Hello all, currently finishing up a rb25 swap into my s14. Having issues with starting, car has spark (confirmed by pulling a plug and watching it spark), has fuel(confirmed by checking pulse/voltage at injectors all spark plugs are soaked in fuel). Car cranks over and pops into the exhaust with a heavy fuel smell but no attempt to start or run, I have torn the timing cover off and triple confirmed timing, turned the CAS in multiple spots both directions, attempted to start with coolant temp and maf unplugged, checked my fuel lines and made sure they weren’t backwards, checked voltage at cas/injectors/coilpacks, made sure all the grounds in the harness are connected and added a few grounding straps (1 from chassis to block, 1 from chassis to head, and 1 from chassis to igniter chip) I am getting stumped here. As a last ditch effort I made a full grounding harness tonight that’s going to run from the battery and add an extra ground from the battery onto the coil pack harness/igniter chip/ intake manifold/ Wiring specialties harness ground/ and alternator. I’m hoping maybe the grounding harness will fix it here but posting here to see if anyone has any other ideas on what else I can check. My fuel pressure is unknown right gauge will be here tomorrow.  IMG_3206.mov
