well i used to hate the look of 4door r33's but for some reason they've grown on me alot lately. not so much series1's though. really considering getting a manual turbo 4door series2 after i sell my current car.

reasons being:

-something different

-looks sweet once done properly

-not as common as coupes and not many people recognise it, therefore wont expect much from it (sleeper style)

-wont be hassled as much

-cheaper insurance (or so i've heard)

main thing i wanna know is how they compare to the coupes, performance wise.

i know they are longer and a bit heavier than 2doors but how much longer and heavier?

any help would be appreciated

thanks

I have a SII R33 Manual sedan. Id have to say doesnt draw as much attention, but since a couple of guys got SII R33 coupes in the same colour as mine, and drive like retards i get hassled a heap more. I think 20-40kgs heavier (not exactly sure), power wise the same, ive gotten the jump on a few of the coupes, so comes down to driver really. and about 10-20cms longer, and the roofline is bit higher as well i think. Lots of other small differences.

cheers

Yeh r33 sedans dont get much attention at all, i once pulled into a BP and the attendant goes, hey mate me and my mate here were havin a discussion on what car that is? I go yeh its a skyline, and one of them goes YES I KNEW IT WAS A NISSAN lol...

Performance wise, I havent been in a coupe so i cant say, but from what ive herd its only like 40kg heavier so i dont think it would that much slower? To tell u the truth it is a bigger car than my mums camery! Alot of leg room, so more lux than the coupes, as it can fit 4 ppl comfortably on a 600km trip (done quite often). Im looking at 1.4k for full comp insurance i think? But its i havent seen many 4 door series 2 33's on the road at all, if any.

and about 10-20cms longer,

Thats a bit of an exageration

I would guess 5 cm longer, because if you fit the coupe exhaust it sits back about 1-2 inches further than in the coupe.

I also prefer the style of the boot with the flush sides (more like the 34's) and spoiler on top.

10cms, i say as ive had a coupe exhaust put on my car and i needed a 10cm section put in after the cat. Never measured, so it was a guess, i guess without the spoiler they look longer and sleeker.

thanks for replies :P

thing is, i'm a p-plater and i've never seen a p-plater driving a r33 sedan before lol. i guess people who buy em are ones with kids maybe but still want a skyline.

i on the other hand probably wont need the space, like i said twill be just something different etc.

is it weird for a p-plater to get one of these? :)

but i was thinking if performance wise they are pretty much the same as the coupes, then why not.

jesus christ you got any tires on them rims?

looks hot dude but the series2 front have always done it for me.

SoFreshSoClean - nice, just needs to be dropped

King Springs are on the way :) well until I can afford coilovers lol

    • It's almost certainly a reluctor generating an "AC" waveform. No, ECUs don't generally read those - they're usually set up for PWM square wave 0-5v stuff.

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
