Suspension Workshop Recommendation - Alignment, And Bending My Struts Back

Recommended Posts

gday fellas

got a r31 gts1

struts are different to a normal aussie r31 as the gts1 came with import type strut so as to fit bigger brakes (100mm caliper bolt spacing)

anyway, lower left strut has a VERY slight bend. so slight you cant see the bend in it, but it is rubbing the tyre. control arm is not bent, everything else is fine. no one in sydney has a spare pair, and the ones available interstate are $550. not an option

can anyone recommend a place to bend my strut back into place. i know of east coast, any one else?

** already spoken to heasemans/sydney shocks. will be getting my shokcs in this car rebuilt there, but they said dont bother coming until the strut is straight.

appreciate your assistance

cheers, mark

forgot to mention

will be getting all 4 bilstein shocks in my gts1 rebuilt at heasemans

however, they said do not bother coming until i have a straight strut

so yeah, sorry, forgot to mention that part

    • Yes they're fairly common, especially where there's kids around like in an apartment complex. The kids will see the characters and then (hopefully) read the sign that says not to enter because it's dangerous.  I've seen them on busy roads where kids wouldn't be hanging around as well, but not every time. It could be down to the city/town where it is and how cutesey (lol) they want to present their construction sites
    • Nice cars and coffee at MX5 Mania today, saw a V6 engine swap from a Jag, and a super tidy K swap, heaps of MX5 of all variants, alot alot of other cool things as well LOL That truck was farking huge
    • I'd be surprised if it's a problem. A highflow cat doesn't present a massive restriction. You'd have to be tuned on the ragged edge for there to be any likelihood of something going wrong.
    • Problem with putting them back on my ignition timing with the tune might get screwed up. What u think?
    • Not sure I will have much paint left if I do that … I am going to do my mirrors shortly with some n45 primer from dr beasley then ceramic coat them. The rear has been ceramic coated already after the paint.    going to put the high flow back on but just need a tuner to help me and mine is out of town for the next two months or more.  Just worried about the ignition timing.
