What Non-genuine Windscreen & Windows Rubbers Fit My R32? Preparing To Paint My Car.

Recommended Posts

Gday,

Im preparing to strip my R32 gtst back to a shell so that i can have it resprayed. Im going to do all the prep work, and then tow it over to a spray painters to finnish it off.

My question is; Does anyone know what non genuine rubbers are able to be substituted for the factory R32 front and rear windscreen rubbers? Ive heard that some commodore rubbers will fit and im not prepared to pay $520 each for genuine Nissan ones! Also, ill pull the rear quarter windows out as well, so ill either have to remove the rubbers undamaged, or source some new ones. Does anyone know where i can get some of these as well (non genuine or cheap Nissan?).

Thanks,

Shaun.

the windscreen people will know... just take the rubber to them.?

what colour are you goin with the car?

When I repainted my R33 I had to get a new windscreen as well

The windscreen company used a mould similar to a my VX commadore and replaced the rear aswell

Cost about $30 for each.

Do they look the same though or does it look a bit weird...like they are not the right ones.

I am in the same position and will definately do this if they come up allright.

Cheers

Best thing is to drop into a windscreen shop and see what they have

Most the strips just come on a roll and cost about $5/m

Much better than $600-700 for new ones, by the time you buy the inner and outer

Attached is a pic of my old R33

You can zoom in on the front screen to what they look like

They do look different, but not out of place.

Only thing wrong with them, after about 18-24 months of being in the sun, they were showing some signs of sun damage. But at roughly$30-40 you could replace them.

Rear quarter window outer is bonded to the glass, buy new seal - comes with free glass attached.

Can't help with front or rear though.

Thanks mate. I sent you a PM if thats ok.

Shaun.

    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
    • I also used NP   That’s were it’s seems to be the best place to fit it? All schematic shows also that it’s should be referenced from the turbo housing. But idk, I do see high hp cars without any connection or anything to their turbos, so I really don’t know how they connect their things
    • I do have loctite 243 and 246 and a few more models. I could drill it now in place and make new threads for m12 and order an4 - m12 coupling and fit that to the turbo. Run a braided hose to the EBC which I could get a an4 to 1/8npt
    • So M12 and sealant should be fine?    NPT ” because that’s what I had and what I could get atm.
