Hey peeps

Just wondering if any SAUer's will be at summernats this year ?

Its will be our first summernats ever as moving to this state has made it possible to actually go :w00t:

I know it is very V8 orintated and can be a bit harsh on the girls but I am purely there to have a great time and see some "phat" cars  what ever make/model they might be ;)

We will be going down just for the weekend e.g Friday night thru to Sunday as didnt plan well enough this year to be there the whole 4 days >_< lol

So hope to see some sau peeps and maybe even some "phat" nissan there :O:laugh:

Yup im the same i'll be there Sat + Sun or.. until my body cant stand the sunburn any longer. I usually just drive down myself on friday arvo to Goulborn to stay at my parents house then drive my work van down early sat morning and sleep in the back sunday nite in some desserted area then go back sunday for the burnouts and another dose of sunburn.

Regardless of the amount of v8's it really is a fantastic car enthusiast show with more and more jap cars becoming involved (although not as many as you find on the streets of Braddon late at night hehe).

The whole chick thing is (unfortunately) dieing down. I wouldn't have taken a chick within 10km of the place 3 or 4 years ago but these days plenty of middle aged families are going with their young kids and dont have any problems. If you dress for the occassion and not for the attention and dont wander around in groups of girls you are pretty much alright.

Im unsure how spectacular the event will be this time around due to the major accident last event caused by the drifters running over some people in the crowd on the sat nite main event. Expect security ever 10m stopping any driver that even remotely looks like they are going to do something stupid. Why they dont just make the cruise route 1 way with heaps and heaps of safety barriers allowing drivers to do what they want to do is beyond me.

Can't wait...

I haven't been since the early 90's. I hear it's a lot tamer these days in terms of crowd behaviour. Any hassles you get for liking one particular car or another is most likely to be done in a friendly bantering sort of way.

If I go this time I will definitely be wearing something SAU related.

Have you guys got your accomodation organised?

Generally speaking the women walking around with guys wont get picked on, or only in a friendly way if at all. But chicks walking around in groups wearing short skirts and tight tops, good luck.

If you havent already organised accommodation, forget about it.. you are about 6mths too late.

    • Yeah you can. Cable tie the gauge to a windscreen wiper, or run it into the car and hold it with one hand, or have the neighbour's kid run alongside and tell you what it says.
    • I've never understood why this bothers people. Surely you'd be looking at a T3 flanged Garrett style thing, rather than a TD? You're unlikely to push a +T hard enough to need that much fuel. If you're not starting with most of the things you need to do that (ie, the bloody ECU!), you're better off just going Haltech/Link. You wil hate life a lot less. No. Just no. Just turbo it as is.
    • Have you noticed if the squeak changes with temperature or after driving in the rain?
    • Ok I get you. But isn’t the butterfly intake a headache with the +T?  see this is my plan so far but please advise me into the right direction.  Nistune Ecu, 1000cc Bosch injectors, TD05 or TD06 Kinugawa turbo using stock rb25det exhuast manifold, walbro fuel pump unsure of model I think it’s 450/460, spitfire coils and sparks to suit and a R35 MAF sensor and boost sensor.    I was thinking maybe do a cheap eBay plenum $400-500 or try find a stock det neo intake. I think I’d port match it so it’s getting the full capacity but open to advice please.  Thanks
    • The issue now is the 'fuel cut' while driving, and when it happend, it does not stall. This, I did not test the fuel pressure while driving as I cannot with a fuel pressure gauge. I do have Nistune logs, yes. I have also replaced the MAF Sensor.   Also related to the FPG Fuel Hanger – I just realized that I need a Deutsch Crimp Tool to crimp some cables for the FPG Fuel Hanger. Need to purchase additional cables as the kit only included 2, which are for the float. FPG has not responded to my emails so far since purchasing. I thought about taking it to someone and having it done professionally, but I am reluctant since everyone I took it to messed up in some way.
